Praise: admiration; expression of approval; honor or glorify
We all have our moments when uncertainty sneaks up on us. I woke up this morning and cried. They weren’t tears of joy. I was frustrated. I was almost ready to accept defeat. But then my God spoke to me and He reminded me that I am His. He reminded me that as long as His words abide in me and I in Him, all things are possible. John 15:7 “If you abide in Me, and My words in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
This is not the end of the road, even if it feels like it could be. There are so many more tomorrow’s and so many promises to be fulfilled. There’s a journey ahead of me that I accepted when God created me. I know that I have been called - chosen - and as long as I know that God is always with me, then I cannot fail and neither will you. We need to always be thankful for His hands being upon our lives; thankful for all His goodness; thankful that He sees when we cannot, and that our best interest is always His concern.
“All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God” 2 Corinthians 4:15
I’m not yet where I imagined I’d be but that’s ok. I praise my King! I praise Him for all He has done, all that He is doing, and all that He will do. I praise Him for my past, present and future. No matter who I was yesterday, I’m a better person today. And no matter who I am today, I will continue to strive to better for tomorrow. Nothing and no one can stop me from going where God wants to take me. I don’t know exactly where that is but if God has ordained it, then it’s my duty to keep moving, seek revelation, and fulfill my purpose no matter what.
This one thing must be the greatest piece of knowledge and desire in our personal relationship with God: understanding the importance of praise and worship, and wanting to. At the time that I write this, I’m in a whirlwind of seeming chaos. I have no idea what today will bring or what tomorrow holds but I do know that God is always here, listening with love, opening doors that I don’t yet know exist.
I know that He loves me and I know that no matter what things may look like right now, God will never leave me nor forsake me. Hebrew 13:5(b)-6 “For He said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ For we may boldly say, ‘The Lord is my helper’ and I will not fear…” And through the storm, I praise the One thing that will always remain constant: my Savior and my Lord Jesus. He has brought me through all past trials and this too shall pass.
If you find yourself in a place where you’d rather not be, take a moment and look up. Let the beauty of His canvas fill your heart with a reminder of all that He is and all that He is capable of doing in your life. Faith. Praise. Just as we may not understand how God was able to create all that we see around us, we know that it’s there - it’s undeniable. As much as we may not understand what God is doing, how He works or what He’ll do to get us through, we also cannot deny that He will indeed answer; He will provide a way to get you through. His works are with intent for good, not for bad. Genesis 50:20(a) “But as for you, you meant evil against me; [but] God meant it for good…”
Know that God is always here, waiting to hear from you; waiting for you to tell Him how much you love Him and how grateful you are for everything – even the trials, for giving you strength and growing your spirit. Stay strong in your faith and trust in Him with all that is in you; do not give in to the enemy’s taunting and discouragement. “No weapon formed against me shall prosper” Isaiah 54:17. There’s always victory when we know that we have Jesus; when we chose to learn from His instruction, love Him and praise Him no matter what. “Give me understanding; I will obey Your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart” Psalms 119:34
Not only is our Lord pleased when we praise and worship Him, but it increases your faith and encourages hope - it’ll remind you of all that He has done for you and you’ll know that this is not the end of everything, but the beginning of a great future. Psalms 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Praise and worship opens the realm to where God Himself sits in His very throne and Jesus at His right hand. It places your spirit right at His feet – just where we need to always be. In that realm, He’ll comfort you, He’ll speak to you. You’ll feel His very real presence. “Rejoice in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer” Romans 12:12.
Update July 2014 “Praise Report”
Yes, the Lord got me through it all and brought me more than I had asked for! Amen* And He will do the same for you. God is good – no God is amazing! His love is all we need and our love and faith is all He asks for. It’s ok to pray for our needs – God wants to take care of us and make sure we’re secure while we’re here. But more importantly, we need to always be in prayer for the growth of our spirits and to remember that there are many others in the world who need our prayers as well. Don’t forget the people. 1 Timothy 2:1 “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.”
Matthew 6:33 “Seek first the kingdom of the Lord and all things will be added unto you.”
