Put To Death The Deeds Of The Body

Updated on September 18, 2009

For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.

Romans 8:13 RSV

Before I new Christ I would of never understood things from the bible, like put to death the deeds of the body and you will live.

Or do not be conformed to this world.

Romans 12:2

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

When I started this walk with my Lord Jesus I knew he had alot of work to do on me and it was left up to me to let him. Living this life with fleshly desire's makes it hard to focus. YES, we are human but we must try to stray away from fleshly desire's because they cause us to sin, they cause us to not be who Christ made us to be. This is why we are not to conform any longer to the pattern of this world. We are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. How do we do this? We read the bible daily, we pray, and we focus on Jesus.

1 Peter 1:14

As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.

Before we we're saved we lived in ignorance and now we are to not comform to the evil desire's of this word, we are not of this world. We live in to glorify God but we are not to be of it. God is so good to help and guide us through this time in our life, where the world is just falling apart and we really need his strength to carry on.

We died with Jesus on the cross, once. Born again in Spirit, once. The old man is dead. If we really believe it, then live it. Great hub.

Love the hub. When you are born again the Holy Spirit indwells and He is the One that helps us to not want to live for the things of this world, that rot and decay and dust collects. I wait with anticipation for Jesus' promise to come true. For the Father's Kingdom to be finally on this Earth that takes place of this world's physical lusts. The Father's Kingdom can begin in anyone, inside their heart. His laws written there first.

I just learned that the word, transformed, is from the Greek word metamorphosis or metamorphoo - which can be likened to God wanting to take us from caterpillar to a beautfiful butterfly and that just as a caterpillar has to go through the struggle with the cocoon, we also face struggles to become what God wants us to be.

Your continued guidance is appreciated. We do have to change our ways; to live the way God intended us to live. He loves us, just as our own parents do - yet he is more loving & I for one still feel blessed everyday.
