Rastafari: Rat Race

Updated on September 11, 2012

It is very sad and disheartening to know that the sole motivation in life for some people is money and hype. They make sure their future friends and/or spouses are already wealthy. It is ridiculous that someone will play tricks in order to acquire another person’s wealth. Bob Marley’s sentiments are those of the Rastafarian culture when He wrote the song rat race. It is not the objective of the Rastafarian culture to pursue materialistic possessions at the expense of other human beings. The Rat Race is obvious in the music videos, supermarkets, restaurants and in traffic.

Bob Marley did this song when there was a violent political war in Jamaica during the 1970's between communism and capitalism

This type of behavior is the very destruction of our souls. It starts when the ego takes over the thought pattern of the person. The ego then wants to fit in with the materialistic standards of society. There is no need to own an Iphone because everyone else has one. There is no need to tell a lie at the chapel because your spouse is a millionaire.

In order to play the rat race, you must sacrifice some scruples. The game has no space for loungers, even though lounging in luxury is the main reward. There has to be a confidence trick being played on the ego of the victim. Also, it is important to note that both the victim and the oppressor are the same persona. Even if a scammer has tricked someone out of their money, they have also tricked themselves into thinking that is what life is really worth.

Shooting Yourself in the Foot

In our modern and civilized society, people are partaking in heavily marketed products that does more harm than good. For example, people would consume a pharmaceutical product that has a side effect of “SUDDEN DEATH”. From a logical point of view, people should not sell or consume such a product. Would you eat cornflakes that had a labeling “may cause death”. No one would buy it. However, they would buy a cigarette with that same label.

It is possible for a strong marketing campaign to influence people to eat cornflakes that can cause death. If they did it with other products, they can do it with cornflakes. It is done using basic mind control techniques and technologies utilized by large corporations.

How do They do it?

It is natural for human beings to achieve their highest potential. Self-actualization is an important component of the human psyche. The ego helps us to realize our dreams. However, the ego can be bombarded and re-programmed. The re-directed ego then strives for the goals that society deems as being ideal.

Human Beings are also social beings and strive for acceptance in society. The ego wants to fit in. It wants to be admired. Well, what if eating lots of cornflakes that causes death can help to attain social normality. (Then, the ego will subscribe)

The rat race is the mere methodology of implementing mass indoctrinations. If someone was seeing a cigarette for the first time and I told them it can cause death, they would refuse it. However, when corporations get in the minds of the people, their ideologies change. By using false scientific evidence, philosophical theories, celebrity endorsements and peer pressure (social acceptance) they can get away with it.

Corporations love the rat race. It drives consumers to get the latest gadgets and food in order to fit the social roles associated with such items.

Examples:

  1. I would personally like to own a BMW because the women would assume I am an ideal mate and have the ability to provide for them. I would also get respect from my peers who wished they had a BMW. Banks and People would quickly give me financial assistance because I am now higher up in the social strata of life.
  2. Corporations need more money to feed their agenda. They need to sell more products. Therefore, they put artificial ingredients in the food for it to last longer. This way they can distribute through global channels and get more money.
  3. Which wording do you prefer; artificial ingredients or poisonous chemicals. It is the same thing. Consuming artificial ingredients in an isolated form would lead to death. Then why would they put it in people’s food.
  4. Promotional opportunities are scarce in the work place; therefore, the workers will put down each other in order to make themselves look like the ideal candidate.
  5. That guy that blows his car horn for the old lady to hurry up and cross the road.

The rat race starts with jealousy. If I did not see that person in the BMW getting a lot of opportunities, I would not want one.

Avoiding the Rat Race

The best method of avoiding the rat race is self-love and mutual respect for peers. We live in a society where people are divided based on their accomplishments or status. Here is a list of divides.

Source

Social-divide

Racial-divide

Economic-divide

Sexual-divide

Global-divide

Rastafarians despises division, especially when it denotes some people as first class citizens while other people are a nuisance to the system. Any kingdom divided among its self will fall.

When Bob Marley sings about the rat race, He is really denoting similar characteristics of sewer rats. Those in the rat race trample each other in order to get that one piece of cheese. People do not even take their health into consideration because they are so busy stepping on each other. Rats will feed on anything. It should not be the same for humans. Our lord has blessed us with a consciousness so that we can carefully select healthy foods amongst all things.

The rats come through the TV and spoil our brains and food with their mind control infection.
