Reason #2 to Read the Bible
To Learn About Jesus!
Who is Jesus? Everyone in the world seems to have at least an idea of who He is, whether it be a powerful evangelist, teacher, or simply a good man, in any case, it is evident that His impact on the world has been profound. The world can tell us many things, but the Word gives clear insight into Jesus’ character, and by extension, God’s.
Hebrews 1:1-3 (NASB)
“God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high”
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is from Heaven, He’s part of the trinity: God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. Jesus is the Son of God, He came into this world as a child and grew up speaking only what He heard His Father say and doing only what He saw His Father doing, he went on to impact this world in a way no one had ever seen. The act of dying on the cross as a sacrifice for all sins past, present, and future, and then being resurrected! He made a way for us to partake in eternity with Him and Father God as a member of their family. The Bible is teeming with all kinds of awesome things that Jesus has done, such as: walking on water (Matthew 14), turning water into wine (John 2), and feeding the 4000 (Mark 8).
This dive into Jesus also teaches us about God, about His character and His heart toward us, about how motivated and serious He is about is love for us, after all, He gave us His son.
John 3:16 (NASB)
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
