Reflections on Psalm 37 - Do Not Envy the Wicked!
Who Are the Wicked?
The next time you get in a TIZZY over the wicked prospering, it is important to take a step back. Catch your breath and pause. Place ALL your anger in a bottle. Spin that bottle around until it's pointing directly at you. Yes, you! Can you honestly say in your heart that you are FREE of all wicked thoughts or deeds? Are you perfect? Are you sinless? The answer is no, no, no. Release the anger. Forgive yourself. Forgive them. Pray for them and pray that God will fill your soul with insight and wisdom on the matter at hand. Humble yourself before the Lord. Be content with what the Lord has given you. Remember, God's will be done, not yours. It's not about you. It's all about God. Rejoice in the Lord always, Again, I say rejoice! Be at peace with your neighbor.
Psalm 37
1 Do not fret because of those who are evil
or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.
3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Isaiah 48:22 - No Peace for the Wicked
And never forget that the wicked have their own problems, for it says in Isaiah 48:22, there is no peace for the wicked. The wicked lack the very self-control that you have mastered so it is important to show compassion, but never let your compassion get to a point where you condone sin. Do not embrace their sin and say it's okay. Sin is never okay. Flee from sin. People who delight in being wicked are not interested in changing, so you be the agent of change. Remove yourself from that person and pray for them. Pray that God will convict them and change their heart for the better. Amen.
"There is no peace," says the LORD, "for the wicked." - Isaiah 48:22
Meditate on Scripture
If you're hurting, in pain and suffering, please meditate on God's Word. It's powerful and it will help you. Go to somewhere where you can be alone with God's Word and meditate on his Word. It is the very thing your soul craves and for every emotion, remember God has an answer. Praise the Lord for he is good!!
