Religion versus Faith and Belief and the Bible versus Love
I am just a cowboy preacher man
There is not harmony because of Religion. That is just truth.
Religion is not faith. Religion is not Belief. The Bible does not supersede Love. Religion causes rifts. Religion makes people without faith and belief hate those that have it. The Bible is a book. The words in it are what are important not the fact it is a book. If you tore every page out and read separately you would still get the meaning and stories and the lessons. Christ and all the Apostles did not have a book. Paul did not have a book.
They had the Living Word. They did not even have a religion they were just followers, students and then teachers. I never saw it written that Christ said to Peter "you are the rock of my religion"
Here is a phrase that just hits the problem hard
The Bible say so! What? A book spoke? The is what forms religion and religion is neither faith nor belief. Faith comes from an inner space. It cannot be understood by someone who does not have it. Don't get me wrong they can intellectualize and scientifically break down and even debate it. But if you do not have it you cannot not "know". If someone got their faith from reading something it is suspect. Faith is not a thing. It is spiritual. It is not empirical nor scientifically provable. So if someone says they got their faith from a book think about that. Can a teacher teach faith? No. But can we get it from another - yes. It can be a "heart to heart" exchange. And it can be somewhat contagious. It can work like synergism. But it cannot be learned from a book..
Rap type music is strange to me, but this song is worth it
The song above brings us to belief
Some how this young man believes so strong in belief and he gets it across. Belief cannot be taught but it can be inspired. There is no place here for religion it is all about a personal relationship. Belief fully unloaded from his heart. Belief in something unseen. Belief in something so real to him that it changes his very behavior. He speaks of tragedy and wrong actions and depravity in his heart but his belief in God turns him around every time. One can always ask is it just his belief or is it actually God working in his life and the answer is always the same, God gave him the belief, belief did not give him God.
I look at such beauty and I say that it is nature, but God made it so.
Are Christians like me allowed not to bow to the book
Here is the the deal with me. I love the Holy Bible. I read it daily and preach from it weekly. I have to many. And I really like http://www.biblegateway.com/ it is so easy to compare version and expand on either side of key verses. And it is fun to use. I can even directly compare languages.
For my it is truth if read in love. Some of that old testament stuff is very strange so you have to look hard for the message. But always worth it for me.
But I cannot call the Bible the Word - I just cannot turn it into an idle. I also cannot idolize churches. To me Jesus is the Living Word. And that word is not messing around with the greatest and last commandments that I believe he directed not by any particular verse but by the totality of what we know of his life here. I can only worship God and not the bible.
God is omnipresent and alpha and omega and the only thing that is in every living human is love. That is the omnipresence for all time.
I just really like this version of this great song
Do you have love in you?
Simple question do you have love?
So let me conclude
Perhaps saying there is a war or a battle is harsh. But I truly believe that we are getting distracted by liturgies and rituals that we get from religion and not the Living Word. And I think it clear that some folks are taking the bible and using it like a rule book and holding it above the the sanctity of Love.
And there you have it. Me criticizing as though I know better than others. Well Sorry about that but it is just what I think and feel. Perhaps you feel differently perhaps you think my treatment of the bible is blasphemy. So I suppose you should kick me out of your religion. Ban be from churches and speak poorly of me and send an intervention team.
As is my tradition let me close with some thoughts:
We have choices please do not make yours in fear
Please do not believe in something because someone told you to
I have sure you are strong enough to do right, are you?
As soon as practical, hug someone
Think hard all day about smiling
