Religion In Contrast With Relationship

Updated on February 16, 2012

Religion VS Relationship

Are you religious? or do you feel like you have a personal relationship with God? Religion has rules and rituals. Relationships have value. Religion is like a job-you feel like you have to do or it makes you feel like you should. Relationships you have them because you want to. Everyone has a different relationship with God. We are all at different places in our spiritual walk. It is sort of like a Father with several children, every relationship is different. Some children will think that some are being favored. Some will think they are being ignored. Although, we are not ignored. God loves everyone regardless of how you live or what you do.

The bible is a love letter waiting for you to find a relationship with him. It wasn't written by God himself, but through the Holy Spirit God used some men to write it. The Holy Spirit is a part of God, like a Father can be a man and a Father. Like any relationship we have with humans, we sometimes don't understand everything about that person, maybe we are just getting to know them and their ways. We might even say to ourselves later.."Oh, that's why they did that". Don't let people interpret the bible for you, especially when you could read it and find out how the Spirit wants to speak to your heart. I suggest to start in the book of John. It is full of life. If you like history then you could start in Genesis. God is omnipotent and limitless. I like to share my thoughts in the form of writing and of how the spirit speaks to my heart. Jesus was always rebuked the pharisees who were guess what?....religious.

This is a nice hub Sky. I have never compared religious to relationship. I guess some people would look and me and talk to me and say I am religious, but people misuse the word. I do have a wonderful relationship with God. I have faith. Whether or not I am considered religious I guess really doesn't matter.

"It's gotta be more like fallin in love

      than something to believe in

      More like losin myself

      than pledging my allegience"

Jason Gray from the song Falling in love.

      You absolutely "get it"!

I just wen to youtube so I could watch the "Everything" skit. I watched 2 different performances and wept with joy at both of them. Thank you so much for including the song. If you haven't seen the skit, I urge you to.

You are correct, now that you mention it. He rebuked the pharisees a number of times. Don't know what drug I was on. Just kidding. The pharasies were responsible for putting Jesus to death because they feared him, and yes, they were the religious leaders of the day. (:v

Hi Valerie, thanks for stopping by again. No, I meant Jesus rebuked the religious people or pharisees. One example would be Matt 23:14. But, I agree with you the pharisees didn't like what Jesus was coming to do.

Good hub, Sky. On the last line, I think you meant to write that Jesus was always rebuked BY the pharasies. You left out the word "by." Check it out and see if I'm not write. Good work. (: v
