Rich Spiritual Blessings In Christ
Spiritual Blessings in Christ
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord JesusChrist , who has blessed us in heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his son through JesusChrist, in accordance with the pleasure and will – to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he love. In him, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.”
The theme of the Book of Ephesians is about God’s glory revealed through what we believers have in Christ. This letter speaks about God’s glory revealed through the believer’s “having” and “being”. The introduction of the letter speaks about of the rich spiritual blessings we have in Christ. These spiritual blessings are the blessings that really matter. Believers are blessed in the heavenly realms or heavenly places. These blessings are not temporal but they are eternal. Some blessings are useful for this earthly life only in earthly places. Beyond that they are of no use anymore.
The riches the world gives has only temporal values and has no value anymore beyond the earthly life. The spiritual blessings the Christians have in Christ have lasting values that last for all eternity. What are these spiritual blessings : to be chosen by God; to be known by HIm; to be predestined before the foundation of the world; to be adopted as God’s children; to be redeedmed, saved and forgiven. These are rich blessings whose value go beyond the earthly life but for all eternity. These are great privileges in this life and we should always rejoice because of these blessings. To be chosen by God as His precious child is a great privilege in life which we cannot exchange for anything the world could offer. This is in fact the greatest blessing of all.
This letter to the Ephesians encourages us to look at our Christianity and salvation not as a product of our own decision, but as a great and wonderful blessing we have received from God through JesusChrist. God’s great gift of salvation to those who believe goes farther and greater and deeper than what we could comprehend. It goes back to before the creation of the world. It was accomplished by God with great wisdom and understanding. It is a mystery.
But many times thoughout the triviality of the daily affairs of life, Christians fail to realize this rich spiritual blessings in Christ. It was Paul’s fervent and persisitent prayer that the eyes of our hearts may be enlightened , enabled to truly appreciate what we have in Christ. Many times we fail to appreciate these great spiritual blessings because we are sidetracked by the attractive things the world could offer. We tend to focus on the great things in this world and look at them as seemingly the greatest blessings in life. But we must be constantly reminded that these worldly things have no more value beyond our life here on earth. After our death, the only thing that matters is whether you are a child of God or not. For the answer to this question determine your eternal destiny.
You can be a child of God and possess this rich spiritual blessings in Christ. Accept JesusChrist as your personal Savior and Lord. You must accept Christ as your Savior to be a child of God. You must accept that Christ sacrifice on the cross is the only sufficient sacrifice for the atonement and forgiveness of your sins. For it is written without the shedding of the blood there is no remission of sin. You must accept that you have been a sinner and need the sacrifice of Christ as it is written in Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We sin in many ways. We sin in our thoughts, words and deeds. Just merely thinking of evil against other people is a sin. Just a mere lie is a sin. We are born with a sinful nature and we are born to satisfy the cravings of our sinful nature.
After accepting Christ as Savior, you must accept Him as your Lord. You must surrender your life and your self to the Lordship of Christ. You must dethrone the SELF from your heart and must enthrone Christ there as Lord, Master and King. You must now live to serve Christ and give glory to His Name. By doing this you will be a child of God as it is written in John 1:12 “Yet to all who receive him, to those who believe in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
Once you become a child of God, all the rich spiritual blessings a believer have in Christ will now be yours also.
