How To Find The Right Faith That Is Rare

Updated on April 11, 2013

The vast majority of Tao cultivators I have encountered (including myself) are unable to put the Tao into practice. The reasons are often quoted, but I believe, it is because right faith is extremely rare. Therefore the question must be asked; why is right faith so rare? Consider this; a sage has right faith because he has absolute belief in the truth. He has come to this belief through keeping the company of holy men and good companions, constant inquiry into the truth and through the study of the scriptures. However, this alone is not enough for the vast majority of ignorant beings to become enlightened. No, the sage has absolute faith because he has direct experience with the supreme consciousness, he has entered into Samadhi. No ignorant being has had this experience and hence doubt still pervades his consciousness.

Once Samadhi has been experienced all doubts are destroyed and the ego sense is annihilated. The truth of our self-nature is revealed and the darkness of ignorance no longer binds us in delusion. There are many teachings to help us along the Way. I would like to offer up one small exert that may be of some use to you. Like all teachings, take what is useful, make it specifically your own and throw away the rest.(Bruce Lee wrote this quote)

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. For the person who has had direct experience of samadhi, there is no difficulty at all. For those who must rely solely on faith the challenge is ever present.
