Ronald Weinland recants - Jesus Christ not returning May 27, 2012
Ronald Weinland has backtracked on his prophecy that Jesus Christ will return on May 27, 2012, preceded by a brief nuclear war. In a new post at ronaldweinland.com, dated May 26th, he writes:
We have believed that Jesus Christ would begin his return in the atmosphere of this earth today, the Sabbath day of May 26th. We have believed this to be a matter of timing for sundown in Jerusalem toward the end of May 26th. As I write this, that time is just about here and nothing has begun in the world that would signal the need or purpose for that reality—Christ’s return.
Although Weinland didn't exclude the possibility of Christ returning on the 27th, he continued on in his message on the assumption that He would not be returning, vowing to "move forward" if He didn't return..
One would assume that as "one of God's two witnesses" God would have given him accurate information as to His return, but it wasn't to be.
Those familiar with the Book of Revelation know that it predicted that the two witnesses would be killed and lie dead in the streets of Jerusalem for three and a half days. Weinland states that he wasn't disappointed when God told him they would not literally be killed after all!
Weinland then states that he is beginning work on his Pentecost sermon for next week. Undoubtedly he will also be working on his defense on charges of tax evasion on June 4th as well.
Unfortunately, self-styled "prophets" like Weinland and Harold Camping give non-Christians one more reason to dismiss the validity of Christianity. This is what happens whenever people focus on Christ's "followers" rather than on Christ Himself and the evidence for the truth of Christianity.
NOTE: Hubpages unpublished this hub on May 29th due to "duplicate content," from another site. That duplicate content was possibly a short quote from Weinland's website - a very short quote. More than likely Weinland has since been quoted on other websites now and the Hub machine sees this as a "duplicate." One quote has been removed, with one short quote left. Unfortunately, I also get flagged if I try to put a link to Weinland's website to back up the quotes.
