...and He healed them..

Matthew 4:23-25

"A helping hand, a smiling face. Someone needs you today. Today is all we have. Make a difference! Take a stand! Someone needs you today. Prayer changes things. Keep hope alive. Never give up. Someone, somewhere needs you today". (By Jonita Johnson)

All of us are not equipped to go about healing all sickness and dIseases that we come in contact with. But, we are all equipped to lift the burden of a person who may be struggling with a sickness or some situation. It is in the little things we do each day that make a difference in the lives of everyday people. So often we are asked to pray for someone, and in the busyness of our lives, though we mean well, sometimes we forget; or at least I have. And when I do, I feel really guilty about putting something off that could be life changing. Writing a letter or sending a card to one who is sick, then forgetting to mail it and finding it months later.

Jesus in all His busyness made time for people. Not just His crew, but everyday folks who had problems, smelled bad, were infectious, and rejected. There are always people in and out of the body of Christ we don't normally take to. Compassion for people is one of the most powerful traits that we see in Jesus. As followers of Christ, as disciples (learners) of His ways are we following his example that He has left us through scripture?

We are not born with the desire to go about doing good. In fact, left to ourselves we can become quite selfish and self-centered. Our desire to do good must be nurtured by being active in it. Look around your neighborhood, apartment building, work place, your city; what are the needs? President Kennedy stated, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for your country?" This is the very question we need to ask daily about where we are. When we ask and search, we will find what we are searching for. Someone needs you today. Our greatest satisfactions will come as we are helping others who cannot repay.

Jesus preached, taught and healed. As we live we are witnesses to Christ within us. Our lives have been changed by Christ, and by others loving into us. We are growing in the Word of God, and are willing to share the gospel message, just as Jesus did. We show our concern not by words alone, but by being there when we are needed. And you never know how your touch, your smile, your hug, or the twinkle in your eyes can play a healing role in the life of a hurting soul. Someone Needs You Today!
