Helping Those in Need

Jude the Apostle is known in the Catholic Church as The Patron Saint of Lost Causes. He is attributed as the author of The Epistle of Jude and he was at The First Pentacost and he received The Holy Spirit along with the other Apostles. Just to be clear this is not, Judas Escariot who betrayed Jesus more than one occasion. There are shrines, churches and other religious things done with the name St. Jude on it. I would say that St. Jude is one of the most well known priests. These sites are located in Brazil. Puerto Rico, Australia, India, The Philippines and in America. According to the religious tradition, Jude taught the word in: Libya, Syria, Beirut, Judea, Samaria and Mesopotamia. He was a devout Christian, who literally gave his life for Jesus. Many other Christians have paid the ultimate price for professing their religious convictions. Jude and other Christians of that time period used to hold sermons wherever, and whenever, they could. They would preach the word in the streets, and often times in hiding areas such as attics. Those who were found teaching about Jesus in certain areas, faced ridicule, imprisonment and even death.

According to religious teachings, The Apostle Jude was martyred. He was an amazing follower of Christ. He is a great example.

There have been many organizations that have started as a result of St. Jude including: St. Jude Hospital and St. Jude Cancer Programs.

St. Jude is said to have been killed with an axe in a Roman Province of Syria. He is said to have been born in the 1st century AD and died in the 1st century AD. His bones were transferred to St. Peter's Basilica in Rome in a crypt. Many Christian people visit his crypt by the thousands each and every year. Many movies, pictures, books and other articles about Saint Jude are out their on the market. When you think of St. Jude the first thing that should come to mind is helping the poor or those in desperate need of help. A true Saint in every since of the word and his letters that are found in the New Testament in the Holy Bible are truly encouraging pieces of work to say the least. Always treat your neighbor with love and respect.

Judas was known as Judas Thaddaeus, he is also called Jude of James. He was one of the twelve Apostles.

Saint Jude Prayer

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be adored, glorified, loved and preserved now and forever. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on us, St. Jude worker of Miracles, pray for us, St. Jude helper and keeper of the hopeless, pray for us St. Jude.

The name Jude actually means "giver of joy". Many scholars credit him with helping to create the Armenian Christian church. Paintings of the Apostle Jude frequently have him with a flame around his head. This is because, he was one of the Apostles that received the Holy Spirit during the Pentecost.

St. Jude Children's Hospital was founded in 1962, and it primarily focuses on major children's diseases. It is named in the name of the saint who is ascribed to helping lost causes and those who are in serious need of help. Saint Jude along with all the other Apostles (excluding Judas Escariot) helped spread the Word of The Lord. Most of the time, they would be preaching and teaching, even while suffering from under persecution. This would then lead to imprisonments and eventually death. He and many other Christians, have suffered for their beliefs. Always helping those who are suffering or are in despair, is a very important part of Christian life and Christian beliefs. Now a days, there is a fine line between someone being concerned or in someone being noisy. Saint Jude has spread the word through the streets by walking door to door and everywhere in between and telling the gospel of the word of the Lord to anyone who would listen to him.

There are many other prayers to do with St. Jude and of you know of any I would love to hear from you. Just leave your comments in the box located at the bottom of this article.

As a side note, Denzel Washington, plays a body guard, named Creasy for a young girl, who gave Creasy a pendant that was St. Jude, The Patron Saint. She told Creasy that St. Jude, The Patron Saint, would keep him safe from harm.

Although I have not heard a lot about St. Jude through the news, retail stores at various times, will raise money for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. There is usually some kind of fund raisers throughout the year and all the proceeds will go to benefit cancer research. St. Jude research hospital has never turned anyone away because of their inability to pay. That is the slogan for St. Jude Hospital.

As much as I respect St. Jude .Don't you think naming a cancer hospital for scared, sick, vulnerable kids with cancer after the St. Of Lost Causes a bit inappropriate or at the very least "self defeating".There are numerous Saints who actually are patrons of different cancers. If you want to have a St. In charge of hopeless causes, assign him to Congress or the war department.I had no idea you could getting canonized for "hopeless causes" ..

I guess I had never given any thought to Jude, so I found this hub very interesting and informative. I'm not Catholic, but I think all of the apostles were saints, and that includes Mother Mary and Mary Magdalene. I think there were others who were saints, too. Although they were not recognized as such by any church, I think God recognizes them for their special service.
