Scorpio, the Passionate Zodiac Sign

Updated on November 24, 2017

Careful, we sting.

Yes we do. We rarely want to, but when we do it's fast and hard.

I'm a proud Scorpio, and if you're a true Scorpio, there's no other way to be. You LOVE your sign. You roll around in the mystery and passion of it, like a dog folicking in mud.

You're deep, passionate, sensual, and oh yes, you sting.

I don't believe in daily horoscopes; who does really? But I believe my sign is utterly,100% me.

"Oh, one more thing..."
"Oh, one more thing..." | Source

Detective Columbo is my hero

For instance, I hate e-mail rumors and I'll debunk them every chance I get. I guess that ticks off my friends a bit, because I don't even get a "thank you" for stopping their spread of rumors and urban legends. Oh well.

But, I'm sorry, I need truth. I'm a detective, and when I smell a rat, I believe that people need to know!

I also love a good "whodunit" and of course, I'm a ghost hunter. According to www.exploringpsychics.com Scorpios: "They like to delve and probe into the unknown and often find themselves in exciting careers such as detective work, research and writing tales of suspense."

Trust Issues

You know what they say about "still waters run deep" ? Scorpios don't typically wear their hearts on their sleeves. You'll never know what we are really thinking, or how deep the water is.

That's me. I don't like giving away too much of myself. There are many layers to this onion, and few if anyone will see all the layers.

One time I let someone see all my layers, I got really burned.

If you look at my profile, you won't see much personal info. I'm enigmatic about where I live, who I am, etc.

My privacy is precious to me. If I confide in you, I either trust you completely or I've indulged in too many glasses of wine.

Passionate, borderline coo-coo

I never travel anywhere without my soapbox. If I don't keep myself in check, I'll get so immersed in something that it will become an obsession. I rant, I rave, and I stand up for my causes despite my shy and introverted nature.

We all remember Joaquin Phoenix's little trip down coo-coo lane, all to pull off a movie hoax. Joaquin is the perfect specimen of a Scorpio; he's passionate, dark, intense, and mysterious, a virtual poster boy for our astrological sign.

Other famous Scorpios (who sometimes let their passions get the better of them) are: Winona Ryder, Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Katherine Hepburn and Demi Moore.

Temper, Temper

With an off-the-hook passion comes a bad habit: a fiery temper. We Scorpios are known for their sudden and intense temper, our "sting".

I don't think it's a good quality; I try very hard to reign in my stinger and be calm, however I don't always suceed and someone gets torched. Be careful with the Scorpio! You won't like me when I'm angry.

Death Card In Tarot
Death Card In Tarot

Death becomes her

The Scorpios planetary sign is Pluto, which is associated with darkness and death. The "Death" card in Tarot is also associated with Scorpio. Yes, I have a dark side; I tend to be fasinated by things that are considered morose and creepy. For instance, I love zombie movies, vultures, snakes, gothic looking buildings, ghost hunting...need I continue?

Opposite Day

Speaking for myself, I like things that are dark and deep but, like a moth, I'm also strangely attracted to the light. I like to hang around bubbly people who talk a lot (maybe because it means I can talk less!), and then there is my weakness for bull-headed Tauruses (my astrological opposite).

Seriously, I seem to have a thing for Taurus men and the month of May in general. I love emeralds, the May birthstone and I'm a big fan of spring.

(Please don't think I sought out men according to their astrological signs. That's just silly. It just seemed to play out that way).

They say Scorpios are most compatible with Cancer, Pisces, Virgo and Capricorn, which is I believe is true for me, but only in friendships. Two of my best friends are Pisces and Capricorn. But in love, personally, I have to say opposites attract with me.

I wonder if that's true for all Scorpios? (Help me out, fellow Scorpios!!)I don't really know, but, I think Scorpios, being the passionate creatures they are, like the excitement of an opposite mate?

Then again, they say water and earth make mud, and with Scorpios being a Water sign and Taurus being Earth, things can get messy.

Anyway, to sum up, my greatest friends are usually Cancer, Pisces, Virgo and Capricorn. However, I fall in the mud for men?

That sounds about right.

How To Win A Scorpio's Heart

  • Don't be controlling or clingy; we are very independent types, sometimes loners. You need to give a Scorpio their place.
  • Be sexy. A alluring stare, smile, or touch can make the Scorpio's heart melt like butter.
  • Don't give up too much of yourself. Remember, we love a little mystery! We want to be able to figure you out, but once we do, we may get bored. Keep us guessing!
  • Books and unique jewelry make great gifts for the Scorpio.

Great to learn about Scorpios from a Scorpio who writes powerfully, revealing all! Well, at least almost all, for I don't thnk a scorpy wiill ever reveal all. :)

I must also admit that I take Astrology with a pinch of salt like you. Not a blind believer, but just an experimenter.

Thank you, Hecate-Horus, for a great hub.

Dave: I think it's because we like things deep and complex. Not necessarily drama-filled, but just interesting. :)

Thanks for your comment, KrisNick09. I dated a Scorpio in college. I have to admit, I never felt more at ease with someone as I did with him. Unfortunately, he was very keen getting married, and was really clingy. I wanted my freedom. I had to say goodbye. Sometimes, even after all these years, I really miss him. :(

(Scorpio woman) Have got to admit, I like someone with whom I can argue without fear of my "stinger". His is just as sharp! I have been dating a scorpio for seven years now, and love it! I, for one, prefer my own kind :D I can see the appeal of playing in the mud though :)

HH, after watching Firefly and Serenity 20 times each, if I didn't get the reference I'd have to burn my Brown Coat and retire to Miranda! ;)

Good Point, CWB. This website http://www.astrogeographia.org/about_us/conception... actually addresses this. It says we actually have 4 horoscopes, one being the time of conception.

You can really get in deep with all the factors of astrology; the exact time of day they are born, where the planets were, what day of the week, if their mom was wearing an orange earflap hat, stuff like that. All these can be factored in to a personalized reading of yourself and future. Someone did a reading for me with all those factors and it seemed, on the whole, pretty accurate.

Yeah, kidding about the hat. ;)

Seriously, I take astrology with a grain of salt. It is usually too generalized for me and a lot of it is phooey. I think there is Absolute Fate and Destiny, but I also think we make our own choices to get there.

I'm not much for deep thought, so, sorry if I'm contradicting myself.

Interesting hub, HH. Voted up, interesting, useful. As a Nov. 15 Scorpio, I've wondered why the birth sign gets precedence. Should we have a Pisces description add-on, since that's when we were conceived and the DNAs came together?...Let's here it for Valentines "celebrations!!" And for us Born Agains, should we factor in, as in my case, the Leo factor of August 17? Oh, I'm not mocking, if it might sound that way; just trying out some options logically, given the affecting stars would be operating all the time. Actually, I've been thinking of writing a hub based on these questions...might just do that!

I too am a true Scorpio in most senses - and born on Halloween to boot so I was destined to love creepy and mysterious things and to have a strange fascination with death and the afterlife etc. ;) interesting hub.

Being a Scorpio myself, I know what you are talking about. I often find that I tend to be a bit obsessive and overly passionate about whatever it is that I am into at the time. I don't think there is a single person who really knows how I think, but that's how I like it. Voted up and interesting. Have a great day!
