Short and Sweet Evangelism: Like A Thief

Updated on July 25, 2014

by Michele Adams

Imagine you are sound asleep in your bed, when you hear a noise. After pulling your covers up to your neck in fear, you realize there is a robber/thief in your house.

You have two choices: 1) stay in bed, ignore the situation, and hope the thief leaves; or 2) call 911 for help.

Once you call for help, the dispatcher promises to stay with you on that phone until help arrives. You never know if that help will arrive BEFORE or AFTER the thief breaks into your bedroom, but the promise is that HELP IS ON THE WAY, and it will eventually get there. There is no promise that nothing is stolen or that no one gets hurt, only that help is on the way.

This is the salvation plan. You have two choices: 1) choose not to accept Christ as your Lord and hope everything will work out for the best someday; or 2) Accept Christ as your Lord, grab a hold of that 911 lifeline and know that you are no longer alone. Help is on the way. It may not make it in time to prevent a robbery. It may not make it in time to prevent an injury. But help WILL ARRIVE!

God has a plan for you! He has designed it from the very beginning.

He created everything around us, including the angels to be in communion with Him. He takes great joy in "hanging out" with His creation, of loving them, of enjoying them with Him.

Satan/Lucifer/Devil decided to throw away God's help/love so that he himself could be worshiped. Because of this, God created a special place, called Hell, for the devil and his demon followers (angels who chose to follow Satan, instead of God). One day, God will lock Satan and the demons up in this Hell. Sadly, for those who chose not to follow Christ and make Him the Lord of their lives, Hell is the only eternal home option for them as well. Because of his greed/selfishness, Satan wants to take you away from God to suffer with him in Hell.

God has made an escape plan for all of us. He came down off of His throne, (were there was no cold, no suffering, no pain, only LOVE) to suffer and die, as a repentance for sin that WE COMMIT, so that we can escape Hell, and live in communion with God forever!!

If you take time to read the Bible, it spells out this divine plan from beginning to now. It answers all of your questions, and shows you how a God that you may not even know, loves and cares for you more than you could possibly grasp.

All that you have to do is say "YES I need help". Accept that Jesus Christ is the Lord of your imperfect life. It won't be made perfect here, but there is an eternal promise that help is on the way, and He promises to stay with you until it is accomplished.

Matthew 24:43 "But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into."
