Should the church have free hug days?

Updated on October 29, 2016

1 Corinthians 13 v 13 “And now these three remain, faith, hope and love but the greatest of these is love”.

If you asked 100 people if they had heard of Ken Nwadkie I wonder what they would most associate him with, he is in fact founder of the www.freehugsproject.com, you can search for him online especially the Boston Marathan wearing his infamous black TShirt and placard with the words “Free hugs and a smile” encrypted, through some of the worlds high’s and low’s recently he believes a hug can be a helping hand through life’s events, Do you agree?

He has a slogan “Fear and hatred will cease to exist when love is in abundance”.

Should the church have FREE community hug days? Yes, is the simple answer but where I hear you ask? ‪#DoSomethingforNothing

Local markets hosting a stand, annual carnivals, overhearing a conversation in the supermarket, Valentines Day, Job Centre Plus, Street Pastors on nights out, its looking for opportunities along life’s journey the church can either do individually or corporately offering acts of kindness.

The thing is you just don’t know what people are going through, some people are very good at hiding their emotions, if this is appropriate and at the right God given anointed & appointed time with absolutely no strings attached could be a life changing moment or just make their day, He knows the bigger picture and you may that person’s day by following the Lords will for your life.

Could your church be known as a hugging church?

Ken on his various youtube clips has been known for meeting people where they are especially in tragic circumstances like if there has been a murder in the locality he can be seen hugging the police, families and by passers, maybe it’s easier to comfort offering a hug.

Lord I pray that you would speak to people today especially the church of ways you may direct them to offering hugs to local communities, the work of Ken may go further than it has gone before, there maybe more love in our community breaking down barriers and seeing your healing hand, you would hug and put your loving arms around people that this may occur more to each other across this land. Amen.
