Sirius, the Dog Star
Sirius, the Dog Star
Sirius is the brightest star in our sky. While not being the nearest star to the Sun, Sirius is still the brightest, and maybe the most important star. It was the most important star to the Egyptians, its heliacal rising signaling the rising of the Nile every year. They based their calendar off of this. To the Greeks, the rising of Sirius brought the "Dog Days" of summer, and thus the name, the Dog Star. Sirius is also considered to be the Dog Star as it is in the constellation Canis Major, and is the loyal companion to the constellation Orion. Surprisingly, many unrelated cultures around the world have associated Sirius with a wolf or a dog.
Orion, Sirius, the Hero's Journey, the Tarot, and the Seven Seals
Sirius is the loyal companion of Orion, the Hunter. I believe Orion is the Hero in the Hero's Journey. I also associate Orion and Sirius with the Fool card in the Tarot. The man is Orion, and the dog is his guide, Sirius. The Hero's Journey is the spiritual journey everyone must eventually take. It starts with a call to action, where the Hero must eventually follow and is guided along his way by supernatural forces. Then he must fight his inner battle, come out in the end and return home.
In reality, this is the opening of the chakras, which only God can do. This is the opening of the Seven Seals. Your journey begins with a Call to Action. For many people, this is when they start seeing the number 11:11. This is what I experienced. If you answer the call, you are thrust into a surreal spiritual landscape. Then you go through the seven stages of Spiritual Alchemy.
Does the Sun Revolve Around Sirius?
Some people think the sun revolves around Sirius, and that this causes the Precession of the Equinoxes. I don't necessarily believe so, but I think there is some evidence for it. It is close to the celestial equator of the sun. It doesn't move with Precession.
My objection is that Sirius is simply too far away to be in a 26,000-year orbit with the sun. But of course, I am not a cosmologist and could be wrong.
Convergence and the Canine
There is a term in evolution called convergence. It is when two or more organisms evolve the same structure independently. This is true for canines and their counterparts, the marsupial dog. They couldn't have possibly evolved one from the other or had a recent common ancestor.
It is my belief that there exist Platonic archetypes in the Formative realm, and the Dog is one of these archetypes.
Our Guide Star
Is Sirius our guide star, in some spiritual sense? I believe it may be the case. And that it is somehow linked to the Dog archetype. Orion and the star Sirius represent this in the sky. Orion is one of the most prominent constellations in the sky, along with the most prominent star. I don't think this is an accident of stellar physics. I think it was meant to be this way.
I think dos were meant to be our companions, as well as our spiritual guides. Dogs have evolved along with humans for perhaps 50 thousand years. I don't think it's a coincidence we started our relationship with canines when we began our most explosive progression in toolmaking and art. We became fully human 50,000 years ago. We started our relationship with dogs 50,000 years ago. Coincidence? I think not.
Sirius has played a prominent role in my spiritual life. Synchronicities, visions, and revealed information regarding Sirius have punctuated my spiritual life for the last eight years. I am not entirely sure what its role is, but I am making progress on figuring it out. Sometimes I think it is the spiritual Sirius that is giving me these clues.
I am still doing research on Sirius. I know it ties in with the Precession of the Equinoxes, the geometry of the Earth and Moon, spirituality, and archetypes. I hope to figure it out someday. I am always searching for spiritual truth. Where that will lead me, I don't yet know.
