Spiritual Control Specimen (1)
Introduction
Control samples (or specimen) are any type of well-known forensic samples used to assure analyses are properly performed so that results are reliable. It is also called controls, known samples and knowns. These control samples are fully known to the forensic community with respect to composition, identification, source and type.
Controls eliminate alternate explanations of experimental results, especially experimental errors and bias. Many controls are specific to the type of experiment being performed, as in the molecular markers used.
Controls are most often necessary where a confounding factor cannot easily be separated from the primary treatment.
Types: Controls could be divided into positive and negative types. What does this mean? It means that the control produces positive result when it is expected to produce positive result and negative result when it is expected to produce negative result.
Another type is the one that produces confounding result. When it is expected to produce negative or positive, but it did not produce the expected result it is said to be confounding.
Take the instance of the illustration of Jesus to his disciples of a tree planted in the garden the tree was expected to have been producing fruits, but it wasn’t producing fruits. This is a confounding result. It defies the expectation of the sower and the gardener.
“He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
“Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?” (Luk 13:6-7)
Based on the above simple definitions and explanations about the word control, shall we look at the topic under the spiritual purview briefly. I want us to see few examples from the bible of how God makes some as control specimen for the people of their days so that they would not say God is a bias God and that because he is God he makes demand of man of what man cannot supply neither provide. He ensures that those people are as books that could be read by people apart from sharing the message with them of the need to change their dispositions and become new people before God.
“Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:” (2 Co 3:2)
It is the same today, because some people do say that the demand of God is too high and that no one can live like that, no one can fulfill his requirements of holy living, therefore, he ensures that people live among us who are practicing and doing what he requires of us to do so that they would become books to us in the world here and in the world to come seeing them would silence us, we would not have grounds to defend our case before him.
1. First World
The first world started after the creation of man into the garden of Eden, although the timing did not start until men erred and they were cast out of the garden.
It was during this period that the people started giving birth to children and that was when the timing starts.
We shall recall that during this period, the inhabitants of the world though enjoying the magnanimity of God because he never denied them the time of winter and summer, and their trees were producing fruits as and when due, in other words he was feeding them.
But despite this people continued to wax hot in their sinful ways making the hearts of God sad. When God could not endure the inhabitants of the world’s wickedness again, he decided to wipe men off the surface of the earth. albeit before doing this, he ensures that he carved out his control so that there won’t be excuses from anyone, so that no one would have a stand to defend himself at his judgment throne.
After carving a control (specimen) for himself he ensures that his message was passed across to all and sundry of his decision to wipe humanity away because he cannot stand their sins again.
We all know that many people did not yield to the teachings of the control specimen among them, neither do they follow his lifestyle which makes their blood to be upon their heads for refusing, rejecting and disdaining the message of the hour.
“By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.” (Heb 11:7)
“Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.” (1 Pe 3:20)
“And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;” (2 Pe 2:5)
Before this first world was destroyed, so that there won’t be excuse from anyone, the man preached, but they chose to follow their normal ways of living
“And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
“They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.” (Luk 17:26-27 cf Mat 24:37-39)
God by this becomes clean of their blood, because they have the right to choose the right path, but they ignore it.
2. Sodom and Gomorrah
After the destruction of the first world and the decision of the Lord not to wipe away humanity again because he discovered that the thought of our hearts is always polluted. But despite this he was still disturbed by humans sins, and the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah tired him because it was every time that the noise of their sins get to the Lord.
“But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.” (Gen 13:13)
So that the people would not call God an unfair person, I presumed that was why he sent discord among Lot’s servants and Abram’s servants so that they would part ways and he would be able to set an example for the people of the land of Sodom and Gomorrah that they do not have excuse for not to live right in the world.
“And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.” (Gen 13:7)
We discovered that after the discord between the servants of these leaders: Abram and Lot; Abram suggested that they part ways and Lot chose the land of Sodom to go and be living there.
“Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.
“And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.” (Gen 13:9-10)
God wanted to set a control for them, so that there won’t be excuses, so that they would not say what he asked of them was too demanding and they cannot fulfill it.
“And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)” (2 Pet 2:7-8)
As the man, Lot, continued to live among them, setting a standard for them, he equally backed it up by preaching unto them, but they rejected the Good news and continued in their ways until they were all consumed by fire.
“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
“But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.” (Luk 17:28-29)
Worryingly we see that Lot’s wife and his children also fell into the errors of the people of the land of Sodom because their minds did not wholly follow the Lord of Lot like Lot did. And they all could testify that God was not partial in his judgment they were the ones who have erred.
In the next article I will also show us some examples to show us that God since the ancient days have been removing bias in his judgment, he has always been fair unto all and sundry and has given everyone level playing ground.
