~ Psalm 3 ~ Spiritual Journey From the Beginning to the End of the Psalm ~

~ Psalm 3 ~Spiritual Journey From The Beginning To The End Of The Psalm ~

The Psalms are the inspired Word of God. It is a marvelous compendium of spiritual songs composed by several authors. It is Israel’s God breathed hymnbook from ancient times yet just as relevant today in this 21st century.

God spiritually engaged as many as seven or more dedicated authors (7) to write the Psalm under the inspiration of His Holy Spirit and one of them was David. It has been noted that he wrote at least (75) seventy-five or more Psalms. David was a man of war and knew what it was like to be betrayed by those of his very own household. In the midst of spiritual warfare one must become aware, alert, spiritually centered, discerning and assiduously diligently seek the Lord’s face for direction. The Word of God has much to teach us on how to respond as well as how not to respond.

Many think that being a Christian is a bed of roses but it is quite the contrary. The spiritual warfare can become quite vehement and can come from unexpected places. Few really understand what loyalty means. It is important to keep abreast of the Word of God and study and apply its principles to our daily life. Whatever comes our way we can become “conquerors” through Christ Jesus. Here in this 3rd Psalm we learn that David had to stand in the midst of the spiritual warfare that was attempting to divide his very own household.

The Psalm’s was studiously complied during Israel’s extended time in the wilderness while they were being taught how to properly worship. Our worship should also be about honoring God. Here we again learn that being a Christian is a daily lifestyle. We can learn to be confident in the Lord in any and every situation.

There is universally only One True Church that belongs to God and Jesus Christ is the Head of His Church. God desires that we worship, pray, lift our hands in praise and fellowship in your assigned or chosen place of worship where HIS Church gathers. Those of us who are believers upon the profession of our Faith have accepted Jesus Christ into our hearts as Savior and Lord. We are charged to worship Him in “SPIRIT and in TRUTH! Wherever the body of Christ assembles in both large, small, mega and home assemblies throughout the world it is in the Name of Jesus we are to properly worship God! We should always want to honor the Lord with our worship. Christ Jesus died for us on the cross and arose with all power. He atoned for the sins of the of the world and healed the enmity which was between God and mankind...The purpose of His Church is to worship preach, teach, proclaim, and edify the Lord and win others by pointing them to Christ Jesus who extends His plan of Salvation to whosoever desires!

We today are living in a world where many seek to compromise the WORD of GOD. They elect to make others comfortable in sin and portray this as being “unconditional love” This is also another reason WHY there is so much chaos about us throughout this world...

Loyalty is an undeniable virtue! Faithfulness to God’s Word and embracing His principles is a continual, growing, lifelong process. It is important to know that one can be loyal to the wrong thing. As believers It is never right to uphold someone when they are wrong or support them in doing anything that goes contrary to the WORD of GOD! This is true regardless of their position or status in life! “God is not a respecter of persons.” We all, both believers as well as non believers will have to give an account to Him for our life choices.

"GOD IS LOVE!" He is so loving gracious and kind that HE allows us the right to choose. It is interesting that you can also choose to elect to go contrary to His Word; but that does not make it right! It is important to KNOW that there are consequences for our choices. This is why it is so impertinent to KNOW His Word for yourself. God will never lead anyone to do anything that goes against His Word!

"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.” II Timothy 2.

The devil has not changed his tactics and he still continues to try to undermine God’s principles for life and living. One of the conniving schemes he uses is to undermine good relationships. The Word of God is our “Life Manual!” It is completely accurate and was never meant to be used in order to justify a “personal agenda” nor “private agenda.” There are many who use the Word in order to gain control over others and subject them to ungodly worldly teachings that teach others to serve “created beings" and things rather than The Creator Himself! Do not be carried away by every wind of doctrine. Always seek the Will & the Way of the Lord above everything...

CHRIST JESUS IS THE HEAD OF THE CHURCH

“HE is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him ALL things were created that are in Heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or principalities or powers. All things are created through Him and for Him. And HE is BEFORE ALL THINGS, and in HIM ALL THINGS consist. And HE is the Head of the body THE CHURCH. Who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in ALL things HE MAY HAVE THE PREEMINENCE!” Colossians 1. PRAISE THE LORD!

The above is a noteworthy Scripture to ponder upon as one studies the Word of God. There is much going on in this world to undermine the credibility of HIS WORD! We do one another such a disservice when we misinterpret the scriptures in any way. When found in err QUICKLY REPENT! We must be willing to submit to His Word! God can keep us from falling. Our goal as believers should be to seek TRUTH in any and all situations and apply the principles of His Divine and Holy Word to our daily lives. Not in a legalistic or religious manner but to adopt His Word as “A lamp unto our feet and a Light unto our path.” God is a God of order and His Way is always superior to that of the world. Yet it is often the road less traveled. God really does KNOW what is best for each and everyone of us!

This Psalm is about when David fled from his own son Absalom. The Word tells us that Absalom had a fair lovely sister named Tamar. She was a virgin. His brother Ammon was vexed with infatuation and overcome with lust. He tricked her by pretending he was ill and had his father let her come to feed him... He became so obsessed with her that he raped her. Afterwards he hated her so vehemently that he harshly had her removed, thrown out and the door bolted behind her... This no doubt caused her much grief, turmoil and shame. For this injustice against his sister Absalom became quite angry at his father David... However, David forbids him to recompense Ammon for this terrible deed against his sister Tamar. Absalom;“hated Ammon, because he had forced himself on his sister, Tamar.” II Samuel 13.

Absalom against his father David’s wishes then devised a plan to entrap his own brother. He had Ammon killed once his servants had gotten him to drink too much wine and become “merry with wine.” Absalom then flees… His father eventually forgives him… Absalom is one of David’s most handsomest sons. Absalom manipulated others and used his talents to undermine King David’s authority and win the people’s favor with his seemingly kindness. He was so very self serving.

There are many life lessons one can learn from within this intense disturbing value enriched saga. The resentment continues. King David is later pursued by his very own son. Absalom rises up against his father David and subsequently betrays him. Absalom is eventually killed as his long hair is entangled in a great terebinth tree! “Absalom rode on a mule. The mule went under the thick boughs of a great terebinth tree, and his head caught in the terebinth; so he was left hanging between heaven and earth. And the mule which was under him went on.” II Samuel 18. He was actually killed while hanging there in the terebinth…

David was terribly grieved by the loss of his son even though he had warred fervently against him. “Then the king was deeply moved, and went he said thus: “Oh my son Absalom—my son Absalom—if only I had died in your place! Oh Absalom my son my son! David lamented the death of his son in spite of ALL the harm he had caused him.

There is much more in this saga to glean. Read and ponder this Psalm. This particular Psalm is written while King David is being maligned and his authority is being questioned! It is during this time that David confidently trusted God for Protection and Peace!

Book of Praise Lesson Highlights

BOOK 1

Victory In The Face Of Defeat

Theme: Confidently trusting God for protection and peace.

By King David

~ PSALM 3 ~

The foes of King David are many and he cries out earnestly and solemnly to the Lord. He is not restfully sitting on his throne but fleeing from his own flesh and blood. His rebellious son has rose up against him along with a host of traitors. This serves to remind us that when it appears that everything is against us; God is still for us! He did not say that it would be easy but when our sincere desire is to please Him above all else; In Him there is always Victory!

Whenever we are in a situation that seems as though all is against us it is the perfect time to turn to the Lord. During this time your Faith, Trust and Belief in Him can become fortified when you seek Him with your whole heart! Don’t blame God instead turn to HIM! God truly is able! “O LORD how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” KNOW THIS; GOD IS ABLE!

There are times when you may not be able to sleep when going through for whatever reason? This too is a great time PRAY! To turn to the Lord and His Word for comfort and direction. This is the time to fervently meditate on HIS WORD! In the midst of a crisis when you are focused upon the Lord you can still rest in Him! He will put your mind at ease as you give your burden over to HIM! Instead, THANK GOD in the midst of your trial, situation or crisis! THANK HIM FOR BEING GOD ALMIGHTY! You can sleep if you His Word and will remember "HIS burdens are light..." He wants to help you with your burden... Know that God has ultimate control over every and any situation. There is NO power stronger or greater than GOD! “ I lie down and sleep; I wake up again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up on every side. TRUST GOD'S WORD!

We do not have to become vengeful or complacent. Nor do we have to embrace or welcome the opposition or spiritual warfare by whomever it comes from or through! We do however must learn to be patient. It is a marvelous blessing when you have a loyal fervent prayer partner. If we are together or apart we can pray, that the Lord will intercede on our behalf… We are also committed to pray for one another and others as well as pray without ceasing all throughout your day. This keeps us connected to the Lord. In the meantime while going through we must continue to meditate on His Word! There are times we must fast as well...

It is impossible to please God without Faith! God is FAITHFUL! In His time He WILL keep, defend, protect and direct us! He knows your intentions… Know your position through Jesus Christ! When He is your Lord and Savior and you are committed to His Will and His Way you can stand firm upon His Word! What shall we say in response to this? If GOD be for us who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all – How will He also along with Him graciously give us all things. Who will bring a charge against those whom GOD has chosen? It is GOD who justifies…” Romans 8.

We must TRUST and have complete confidence in the WORD of GOD! This is why it is so every important to not let anyone make you doubt the TRUTH of God’s infallible WORD! Absolutely nothing comes our way that God is not aware of! Praise God in any and every situation! Remain obedient to His Will and His Way! Your integrity and character are forever safe with HIM! Thank God for Jesus Christ! From the Lord comes deliverance. May YOUR blessing be upon your people."

This Psalm concludes saying: “Salvation belongs to the Lord; Your blessing is upon Your people.”
