~ Psalm 5 ~ Spiritual Journey From The Beginning To The End Of The Psalm ~

Updated on October 5, 2015

~ Psalm 5 ~ Spiritual Journey From The Beginning To The End Of The Psalm ~

The Psalms are a marvelous place to retreat and then eagerly launch into your day with enthusiasm! They are filled with a spectacular compendium of enlightening and invigorating godly wisdom! In them you will find Psalms of, Lamentations, Thanksgiving, Wisdom, Imprecatory, Pilgrimage, Hope, Royal, God’s Sovereignty and so much more! Here in these Psalms we are also able to learn the importance of Praise, Prayer and Worship! The morning is usually a good time because your mind is less congested. Starting the day out with your mind in the right place is helpful! This will make a great impact on your overall day!

Anxiety, doubt, fear, anger, depression, insecurity, hate, excitement, wonder, amazement, joy and love are emotions experienced by all at one time or another… The spiritually inspired Psalmists have a marvelous manner in which they openly share and honestly express and confess themselves to the Lord! It is here you are able to experience the gamut of emotions. It is important that we not deny our feelings rather learn to responsibly express them in a healthy manner. The Psalms are a treasure of wisdom to help us become disciplined!

God knows however it is we are feeling! This is why it is so very important to spend time with Him alone. He is our Creator and Maker. He is able to direct us in the path in which we should go. He can keep us on the straight and narrow road that leads to Him!

Life is a precious gift from God! He wants you and I to maximum each day He has made. The Psalms are a plethora of expressed inspired Praise to the Lord! If your day is not going good turn to The Psalms, pray, read and spiritually digest them until your soul is lifted! I assure you there is power in Praise!

David was a powerful man. He is attributed to writing over (70) seventy of the Psalms. There is a wealth of spiritual wisdom one can glean from this wise man who loved God! No doubt David diligently kept his face before the Lord. As we look closely we can see he had an ongoing growing spiritual relationship with the Lord. Keeping the lines of communication open with the Lord keeps us connected. As long as we are connected to the Vine we can access the greatest magnificent source of life! Jesus tells us: “Abide in ME. And I in you, as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless, it abides in the Vine, neither can you unless you abide in Me.” John 15.

As we study the Psalm we can see that David was a man of strength and noble character. We are also able to see the results of what happened when he succumbed to his weaknesses. He is a godly man with many attributes! We can learn from him as a king, businessman, father, husband and friend. Here in this Psalm he is crying out to the Lord because he has been viciously slandered.

Book of Praise Lesson Highlights

Morning Prayer For Guidance

Theme: The lies of enemies. God is able to defend us from lies spoken against us.

Author: King David

~ PSALM 5 ~

If you truly desire to have a good relationship with the Lord you must begin to spend time in prayer, meditation and also in His Word! In any growing healthy, vigorous relationship you must establish TRUST! We must learn to trust God in every area of our lives. We must entrust our wellbeing and happiness to Him! Our relationship with Him must be totally transparent! Confession is good for the soul! It is really about humbling yourself to Him. He already knows all about us! Therefore you MUST be open and honest with Him!

It may be hard for our little finite minds to conceive that God knows everything about everyone, everywhere! But He does; He is Omniscient! The carnal mind does not readily receive the things of God! However, God does not want us to be ignorant. We have been created in His image! As we grow spiritually in His grace and knowledge we can begin to better learn to comprehend some of the spiritual things of our Heavenly Father God. As we grow closer to Him our Trust in Him begins to deepen. The more we grow spiritually the more dependent we become upon Him as our Father! We can freely express to Him our thoughts aloud or without even uttering a word!

As we spiritually grow we know the importance of crying out to Him with our hearts! We can readily invite Him into the “messiness” that attempts to shroud our lives at times… We rest knowing that at some point in His time He will direct us and eventually work whatever is going on out for good… There is a wonderful unexplainable Peace that comes from the Lord as you wait upon Him! This is also a great opportunity to acquire patience which is part of the Fruit of His Spirit. “Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my sighing Listen to my cry for help, my King and my GOD, for to You I pray. In the morning O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.”

As I said earlier at the time of this Psalm David was being slandered. He was slandered by his own flesh and blood. He was betrayed by those he loved and had helped as well. Here we can learn great life lessons. What really is actually taking place is spiritual warfare. It always wants to divide, separate and usually present lies… No matter how hard you try there will ALWAYS be those who will undermine your good intentions. No matter what you do they will draw their conclusions from often felonious and erroneous sources… Some will believe what is not true not realizing that they are being deceived! It is important to KNOW that GOD is The Spirit of TRUTH. And satan is a slanderer the father of lies and a deceiver… It can be disheartening; it is during times like this we must learn to draw even closer to the LORD. As the Word says; “The TRUTH sets you FREE.”

God never sanctions sin. God will never tell us to do anything that goes against His Word or principles! Do not let anyone make you compromise what you know to be right! We are living in a time when many live iniquitously; they are being deceived and are embracing the way of the world over what God has said. They condone sin and often boldly oppose the Word of God. God wants to be in every area of our lives... Sin is whatever separates us from God! It allows satan to gain a stronghold… This is why we all need a Savior! Prayer, meditation, confession and Praise will help you live victoriously for the Lord!

Do you realize that when Jesus came He was not readily accepted by many…? He was considered a treat because He exposed error in the established religious system and governing authorities… He came to teach them a better way! He instead encouraged developing a personal relationship with the Lord. We know that Jesus was eventually crucified! They were intimidated because it undermined their authority and ability to gain control over Him… Therefore they banned together and sought ways to destroy Him… How ironic since He only wanted what was RIGHT! He was slandered for telling the TRUTH!

As children of God we need His Holy Spirit to help us navigate through this world that is gradually more and more setting aside the things of God. History is repeating itself! There are so many things to distract us from the “Narrow Path” that leads to Him! Many will sit down when you “stand up” for what is right! This is why it is so important to know His Word for yourself! We as His children can always find comfort and direction in the Lord! “You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with YOU the wicked cannot dwell. The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.”

Life at times can present many challenges! You simply at times may not know what to do or where to turn? Who to trust? KNOW, we can ALWAYS TRUST GOD! Here again David shares how complex the situation is, his heart is tremendously burdened. Therefore he turns to the Lord! Certainly if he as King knows that the Lord will lead Him we too can trust the Lord! Never allow pride to stop you from humbling yourself before the LORD. Cry out to Him as you seek Him for direction and your path forward! The Lord will never lead us astray! “Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies make straight Your way before me.”

There is an unexplainable Peace that comes in trusting the Lord! Know that God does not want your heart to be troubled! When or if it is turn to Him! He is a wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace, King of Kings, everlasting Father and a mighty God, Savior & LORD! “Do not let your hearts be troubled. TRUST in GOD! TRUST also in Me…” John 14. Whenever you are feeling down and insecure know that our true “Security and Significance” can only be found in the LORD! It is in Him you can consistently feel secure! Here we can learn the value of PRAISE! “Praise God from whom all Blessings flow, Praise Him all creatures here below…” This is great doxology used by many! When you are feeling down, forsaken or happy, praise Him. It is always a good time to praise the LORD! He can lift up a heavy heart and a broken spirit! “But all who take refuge in You will be glad; let them ever sing for Joy.”

Over the years David had developed an ongoing intimate personal relationship

with the Lord. Although he did not always listen he was confident in the Lord! He

knew that God was Faithful and that he could always trust God to be God!

David the man and king faced many trials during his lifetime. Yet, he knew that

whenever he stood firmly upon what he knew to be right in the eyes of the Lord

the Lord would protect him. We want to have this same kind of relationship with

the Lord! The only way to the Lord is through Jesus Christ! When we unite our

lives with Him we are united with God! Regardless of what is happening in your

life or going on about you take some time daily and ask the Lord to fill you with

His Holy Spirit throughout the day!

You do not have to be afraid when others rise up against you or attempt to slander you... God is a God of Faith and also of Justice we can absolutely TRUST Him completely! Praise the Lord throughout whatever is going on, we can be assured that His divine protection is with us! Your reputation is always safe with the Lord! “Spread your protection over them, that those who LOVE Your Name may REJOICE in YOU!”

This Psalm concludes saying: “For surely, O LORD, You Bless the righteous; You surround them with Your FAVOR as with a shield.” PRAISE GOD!!!

A M Werner, Yes we must ABIDE in HIM! There is an unexplainable Peace abiding in the Lord. It is a time of stillness and awareness. As His child we can humbly submit to dependence upon Him! David is a wonderful example... As you so beautifully stated:” The Psalms often serve to remind us of just how dependant we are supposed to be on Him for everything. Our roots tear down through all the craziness of life and tap into him for nurtrients and life-giving spirit.” Amen! & AMEN!!

The Lord’s Word is alive! It is our spiritual food our “manna from heaven!” We need His Word and HIS Holy Spirit to guide us daily! The Psalms are marvelous… Yes in them we can experience the peace & presence of the Lord. .. The Lord is truly worthy of our PRAISE!

I too love the Psalms because they are amazingly relevant even today hundreds of centuries after they were written, which is also another testament to the power of God.

Thanks for the spiritual insight into Psalm 3. I love reading the psalms. Sometimes, when one can't find words to pray, it's nice to read a Psalm, as some of them are like prayers.

      Have a Blessed week. :)

DeBorrah, ABIDE IN ME. Such beautiful words that often go overlooked. The Psalms often serve to remind us of just how dependant we are supposed to be on Him for everything. Our roots tear down through all the craziness of life and tap into him for nurtrients and life-giving spirit. You are so right - He never sanctions sin, but He does forgive it. Our security and strength comes from having those roots that let us stand when tribulations and trials blow upon us. We may bend but we are not uprooted. We may lose some leaves and branches at times but the source of our power comes from deep within and it cannot be touched or prevented. David was such a man of like passions. He was a leader humble to the reality of his sinful nature, repentive and always seeking the advice and counsel of the almighty rock. Great hub for a Sunday morning. Peace

      DeBorrah K. Ogans,

What an awesome Hub! Trusting God in the midst of slander and other attacks is hard. I have had several traumas in my life when people have attacked. I remember they are attacking because they are fragile and that all of us can only have strength from God. The challenges permitted by God are for our benefit to grow and trust in him. Knowing God's love, seeking God's love, making time for God's love is what life is really all about.

You and your Hubs are a true inspiration - thank you!

The enemy continues to say we are alone and in truth the Lord never leaves us or forsakes us and neither does the enemy. God is there to cling to and Satan is there to look and probe for weakness. The Lord is there so we may bear fruit and the enemy is there to make us not care if we do or try to steal it as it happens. The Lord is there to give us joy and the enemy will try to steal that too. Knowing that the enemy is there will not bother if we always keep in mind that the Lord is never going away. Thank you DeB.

"know that our true “Security and Significance” can only be found in the LORD! It is in Him you can consistently feel secure!"

The Psalm seems to sum that up as many of them do.

Pieter The Prophet, Thank you for being my first bold and courageous visitor! Thank you for adding that very important element that David was a warrior as well... Yes his enemies believed in their own form of righteousness... You are quite right about David being true to his FAITH in GOD! There is much spiritual warfare about us... We must learn to TRUST GOD in every area of our lives!

Thank you for stopping by to share, your thoughts and comments are always welcomed! In HIS Love, Grace, Joy, Peace & Blessings! God Bless You!

A good read (as always). Let us not forget that David was quite the warrior also! We of the "carnal" mind truly do have trouble understanding the ways of the universe. Ours is the only point of view that we see. I know that David was true to his faith in God. It is important to note however that his enemies believed in their own righteousness just as passionately.
