The Law of Attraction

50 packets of biryani, 2 vegetarian and 48 non-veg. My husband is worried that he might pick up a vegetarian packet, but figures that the odds are with him. He picks up two packets that I unpack at home. Both are vegetarian.

My cousin never wants to go abroad and be a second class citizen. So after his MBA he picks up a job in a metro where within three years the company sends him abroad. He has been abroad for over six years.

My sister said she would never marry a doctor if he was the last man on earth. She knows that she will have no social life with a doctor. She now has two sons and a wonderful husband, who just happens to be an anesthetist.

These are just a few instances that people have vocalized their concerns and then ended up with the worries coming true. The theory that I put forward is that the people think of these incidents so much that they give energy to their thoughts. With that much energy the thoughts come to become actual incidents that occur in their lives.

Of late there is a lot of buzz surrounding the “Law of Attraction”. It has become very popular and is a new catch world among the so called spiritually inclined hordes on the internet. What it essentially states is that you can attract what ever you desire to yourself if you want it badly enough.

Think back to any incident in your life where you wanted to do something very badly and had no doubts that it was the right thing to do. Can you remember where you were and what you wanted? Then can you remember what happened? If it was something that you really truly desired and felt you deserved, chances are you got it.

I wanted to visit my parents for ten days during the diwali festival time a few years ago. I had my husband and son with me. The train tickets we got done were not confirmed. In fact we were wait-listed at 31 and 32. Given that there were only around 45 berths in the second AC in that particular train my husband was not at all convinced that we would get clear tickets or even be allowed to board the train. With my six month old son in my arms all I knew was that I had to go home.

We reached the station and the train came in. We found the conductor and told him the state of our tickets. He looked at us and said, go and sit down on an empty berth, I’ll come and talk to you later. We both happily sat down and the train left the station. After about 3 hours he came and told us that there were no seats in the second AC, but if we wanted we could shift to the third AC and get two seats there. We reached home the next day just in time for lunch.

That was the day I truly started believing in this law of attraction. Since then I have tested it a few times and every time I am serious about wanting something. It does come true. Test it out for your self and see.

As they say Never say never again.. famous James Bond Movie. Happens with all of us that we have to do something which we never want to. I know a doctor who was doing his internship in a village ( they have to do three months of village posting) and he said he would never go to that village again in his life. Soon he got PG in SPM and had to go to that village 4 days a week for next three years and then got job in that village hospital. Enjoyed reading this hub

I enjoyed your law of attraction theory. With one minor modification. It can happen only if you don't just think about it or just wish it to happen but you have to also work on it. Like you went to station and got in the train.

May all your strong wishes come true

I just love your examples of how you get what you are thinking about. Such as your sister not wanting a doctor and ends up marrying an anesthetist..

You have again highlighted to me the importance of understanding what I am putting the WHOLE of my energy towards, even the things I say I don't want to attract...

That's a wonderful way to put it. "Energy flows where attention goes!"

Energy flows where attention goes. Havoc is created because it first presents in the mind and most people always focus onto the bad instead of the good. The financial turmoil that we are facing now is none other than the wrond direction our minds are headin to.

In a way the angels must have guided them to have the blood ready for you. Maybe there was a karmic debt they owed you from a previous life, Jama

I love the way you've explained this!  But I don't think of it as the "Law of Attraction".  To me it's more "never hurts to try", and 99% of the time, it works.  Still working on having a winning lottery ticket in my hand tho.

There's one "law of attraction" that I detest - fulfilling a need before there is a need.  Many years ago, two cousins donated blood in my name.  Since I was (and still am) a "healthy" person not prone to accidents, I thought it strange that my cousins did this.  But less than a month later, I fell off a second-story porch and suffered injuries that required exactly the amount of blood the cousins had donated.  I've often wondered if this was precognition on their part, or their "generosity" somehow set in motion events that resulted in the accident.
