Spiritual Leadership: Motives vs Ambitions
Spiritual Leadeship: Motives vs Ambitions
As spiritual leaders, we time and again are placed in circumstances that may force us to make unpopular decisions. Decisions that may not sit well with some people, decisions that may lead to others criticizing or saying something behind your back. There's nothing that we can really do about this, it comes with the responsibility.
In Luke 12:48b, we see where it says,
"From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more."
Though this is the case, it is important that we know who has entrusted to us, and who will actually account for the things that we are doing. Here are some thoughts that hopefully will encourage and motivate you towards Spiritual Leadership.
MOTIVES vs AMBITIONS. Spiritual Leadership is not about position, nor is it about pleasing people. It's all about pleasing God. HOW? by doing our mandated God given responsibilities the best way that we can and inline with God established authorities and structures He has placed over and under us, wherever it is that He has placed us, in the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
People will not always see it the same way we do. But the Lord sees and tests the motives and cares nothing about ambitions, nor what others say or think about you.
Jesus did not come to earth to please people, to be a hero to people, to be accepted by all. He came only for one reason, that His Father's purposes may be fulfilled in His life. Those who saw, realized and understood this truth appreciated it, appreciated Him, accepted Him, believed in Him and loved Him. But those who didn't, rejected Him, everything He said, everything He did, and everything about Him.
We can take solace that as we pursue our God given responsibilties, wherever He has placed us, we need not fear what other people may say or think. Our concern should be more whether we are being the leaders God wants us to be, and fulfilling the purposes He has entrusted to us by doing the things He wants us to do.
We need not always make the popular decisions, but we are accountable to God to make the right and godly ones'.
