Staying the Course

Updated on September 25, 2011

One of the hardest things in life to do is to stay the course. Many of us start out well in some area of our lives, but then something derails us along the way.

Consider the number of people who begin to go to college, but then drop out. Or how many times we may have started an exercise weight loss program. Many have read a good article how if you put some money back every month that through the miracle of compound interest they can grow a large account. They start, but then a few months later when they don't see any significant results they quit.

I was recently talking to an individual who shared with me how they were battling a disgruntled feeling. Let me say here that in the natural this person had every right to feel the way they felt. They were of mid life age and had lost everything they had accumulated. But the problem was that the problem they had faced was getting them derailed from the focus of their life. It was at this critical time that a decision was about to be made that would determine what the rest of their life would look like.

There are many opportunities to give up in life. However, staying the course is the key to victory. The Bible tells us in Galatians 6:9 that we are not to grow weary in well do because if we continue we will gain victory if we don't give up.

As we study the Bible we find that the Word of God is an incorruptible seed. In other word the Word of God will produce 100% of the time. There is no failure in what God has said. Any failure that we have experienced in our Christian walk is not a failure in the Word of God it is a failure in our ability to stay the course.

Resolving within ourselves to not give up, not get distracted, and to not allow discouragement to over take us is a part of what the Bible calls an "Established heart."

During these "last days" that we live in "staying the course" is going to be essential to our successfully be prepared for the return of the Lord. It is more critical then ever to stay the course then any other time in the history of mankind!
