Strength Training is Challenging Work (Heb.12:7-11) - A Short Devotional
But it's hard...
Having a hard time of it this week; this month; this season?
Well, here's a radical verse - Hebrews 12 verse 7 - 'Endure hardship as training! (aaaah!!!)
The verse goes on to explain- '... because - God is treating you as his precious sons and daughters. For what child is not disciplined (that is, trained) by their Father. If you are not trained (and everyone undergoes training) then you are not true sons and daughters.'
Verse 10 says - '...but God trains us for our good, so that we can share in His holiness.
Verse 11 '...later on...it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained. It's the well-trained sons and daughters who find themselves mature in their relationship with God.'
So, whatever you do - hang in there! Don't drop out of the training programme. It is actually 'preparation for promotion'. It will take you to a new level of maturity in life and in your relationship with God.
You can be sure that you won't get more pressure put on you than you can handle. God NEVER sets us up to fail. He is a loving Heavenly Father whose desire is for you to win, to overcome, to triumph, to succeed and to do well in every aspect of your life. You are well able to face whatever comes your way. 'Greater (than any challenge) is He (Jesus) that is in you!' (1 John 4:4)
God is training you, getting you ready - He has something good in mind for your life. Jeremiah 29:11 says - 'For I know the plans I have for you,' says the Lord. 'They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope...'
You won't become a champion without going through some training.
You don't get to become 'more than a conqueror' without facing adversity and challenges, and winning out over them.
Hardship is training - preparation for the fresh new opportunities God will open up for you - to serve Him and live out your destiny.
Romans 8 verse 31 says - 'If God is for us (and He is), who can ever be against us?' (Answer - No one. Absolutely no challenge, no obstacle, no hardship can ever separate us from God and His great love for us.) We can't lose ... for winning.
I pray you live life - peaceful, secure and confident in God's love and His wonderful working in you and for you.
