Strength in Prayer

Updated on January 7, 2013

Prayer is so strong. I don’t think a lot of people realize it’s power and importance. I also don’t understand why some fight to take prayer out of school and other places. I thought we as Americans have freedom of religion… Doesn't that mean we can not only chose what religion we want to commit to, but that we can worship, praise, pray, sing, dance, speak, or preach freely about it? It breaks my heart to see that so many are against religion these days. If it weren't for some type of religion, where would we be? It is being stripped away little by little and we are being forced to keep it only in our homes or at churches on certain days. Is it just me or does anyone else see a problem with that?

I received an email to sign a petition so that religious programs will still be able to air on television. Personally I don’t see how a few programs that come on are making it that hard for someone to enjoy their own TV. If you don’t like what’s on one station; turn to another one. Isn't that the way it goes? Better yet, rent a movie of your choice. Leave what’s on TV for those that want to watch it. If this really does happen, do you realize it will take away the TV fun during Christmas? I don’t know about you, but I look forward to the “oldie but goodies” that come on between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Please pray that this doesn't happen.

I also believe this is the problem with a lot of our school systems today. Values are starting to fade away and it’s sad because these children are going to grow up to be leaders and make decisions soon. If they don’t know the right choices to make and the right way to go then we will be lost. I'm thankful for the teachers that still have values and try to instil them in the children they see each day. Even our president can sit down and pray, so why is it such a big issue for us to “lose religion”? I’m so glad that there really are people that still believe in prayer. It works and if you haven’t tried it, maybe you should. I can't make anyone believe that it will work for them but you do have to get yourself involved and find out how to pray. Some times we don't always get exactly what we pray for but whatever comes from your prayers is what God sees fit and more than likely you will understand it more as time goes on. Start praying today and see how it changes things for you.

Oh wow! Thanks for the info. Yes there is a lot of confusion about this and I think if more people knew what you just wrote it would change a lot.

I did a little research on this subject once. There is a separation of church and state. The state government can not promote of prohibit the practice of religion. If there was a student that wanted to head up a prayer visual at a school it would be allowed (only if the school is not in charge of it and no staffing members are as well). They can not prohibit this. The same is true with singular students praying in school. If this same student was in trouble for praying by themself at school, they could take it all the way to the supreme court. The Supreme Court has only one choice to declare in favor of the student because that school can not prohibit that student from doing it. The school can not promote it though. So, there is so much confusion around this, but I think it can all lead back to this law.

I absolutely agree. It frustrates me so much. People bicker back and forth about Obama and Romney but they aren't really paying attention to a bigger issue. If more people let God into their lives they wouldn't have so much hate for something someone else does. The enemy has soldiers in high places and is fighting hard. We have to stand up and fight even harder though. Thanks for the comment!

You are right... Prayer is powerful and the more people turn from God the more our country will fall into ruin. The world is full of hypocrites who scream about equal rights, freedom and such and they are the same ones who cry foul if a bunch of Christian teens wanna hold a prayer group session at lunch time. So sad... The problem isn't God letting bad things happen in the world, it's that the world is refusing to let God in it at all... Good hub!
