TAROT - ASTROLOGY In Relation to the TAROT

Updated on May 17, 2011

ASTROLOGY and the TAROT - The Zodiac and the Tarot

The Four Quadrants of the Astrologer:

Aries / Taurus / Gemini

Cancer / Leo / Virgo

Libra / Scorpio / Sagittarius

Capricorn / Aquarius / Pisces

Astrology is defined as ‘the art of divining the fate or destiny of persons from the juxtaposition of the Sun, Moon and planets’.

What we do is influenced by the planets, and how we do it is influenced by our Zodiac sign.

The first six Sun Signs of the Zodiac, Aries through to Virgo, relate to the formation of the individual, from the primitive self-drive of Aries, to industrious Virgo, recognizing and adapting to the social sphere.

The final six Sun signs begin with Libra, which desires harmonious relationships on a one-to-one basis.

The gradual integration of ‘self’ into society is revealed until, with Aquarius, the need to be an integral part of society is established.

Pisces looks to harmony and ‘oneness’ with the Universe.

The progression of the Zodiac advances from the ‘drive of self’ through the ‘socialization of self’, to the discovery of ‘inner-self’.

The ongoing cycle of life, represented by the Zodiac Wheel, has no beginning and no end - simply eternal continuity - much like the Wheel of Fortune in the Tarot deck.

ASTROLOGY AND THE COURT CARDS

Astrology uses the four Elements and qualities of Water, Fire, Air and Earth to reflect various ways of expressing energy.

Water reflects feelings and emotions

Fire symbolizes imagination and creativity

Air connected with the intellect and the capacity to think

Earth associated with the body and its material needs.

The four suits in the Minor Arcana encompass the many aspects of life’s experiences using a similar model.

Cups are connected to Water and Feelings.

Wands relate to Fire and the imagination.

Swords are associated with Air and thinking.

Pentacles are connected with Earth and the material world.

The Pages, which are not related to any astrological sign, indicate the potential contained in each of the four elements. They are not included in the Zodiac diagram, but they introduce the element into each suit.

Astrologically, there are twelve signs of the Zodiac - three of which are assigned to each element.

Water encompasses Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

Air encompasses Gemini, Libra and Aquarius.

Earth encompasses Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn.

Another important classification of the astrological signs is represented by three qualities known as Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable, which reflect three basic principles of life:

Creation = Cardinal Preservation = Fixed Destruction = Mutable

The Cardinal signs in astrology are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

The Fixed signs are more consistent, persistent, loyal and reliable, with great reserves of patience.

The four Queens are connected with Fixed signs and are images of stability, receptability and containment. They share the qualities of loyalty, reliability and the capacity to nurture also relevant to the Fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.

The mutable signs are easily adaptable, flexible and volatile, always ready and willing to change to suit the current mood or surrounding environment.

The four Knights are connected with the Mutable signs, as they are always seeking new goals and challenges. They share the characteristics of adaptability and volatility common to the Mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.

I think I understand what information you were trying to get out with this hub, and I am all for it. Though with the way you have formatted your text, it's rather confusing and hard to follow.

I would also add an "intro" capsule at the top of all this information, so that your readers have a chance to understand what information is going to be coming up. You might also want to consider tweaking your title a bit, it's confusing....
