THE POWER OF HIS LOGOS

Updated on November 19, 2013

HE CREATED WORDS

THE WORD - LOGOS

Thank you blueletterbible.org , biblegateway.com and Wikipedia

John 1:

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

In the Greek, Logos is used for our English translation of Word, found three times in just the first verse of John’s gospel. If John was inspired to give the reference of “the Word” as being another name for Y’shua, or Jesus, then I believe it is the Word, and “words” that is more than worth considering.

Our English translation of Logos… Word, or word, is not peculiar. By this I mean in the sense that it has no strange departure from logos, both expressions have the same meaning, linguistic communications. And, while this all seems very simple on the surface… in our taking things for granted, we rarely go beyond the quick acceptance of something.

We rarely explore the greater significance of a thing, especially when we are certain we already have grasped it. So if you will indulge me, let us dwell on what - “word” means, not specifically in definition, as much as the broader, fuller deepness of it. And yes I will try to keep it short.

Obviously, words is what distinguishes us from “other” animals. Language is a bit of a misnaming for communication in that, it is somewhat one sided, it suggests at least on the surface, that it is about what is spoken or written. And while this is true, in recent years Body Language has become vogue to study.

There are studies being conducted, and have been for many years, about how animals communicate primarily through body language. And as a result, word or words now carry a greater distinction and that is as it should be.

Below is borrowed from Wikipedia about “language”…
The English word "language" derives ultimately from Indo-European *dn̥ǵʰwéh₂s "tongue, speech, language" through Latin lingua, "language; tongue", and Old French language.

While there have been certain birds that have been able to “communicate” with mimics of human words, their “communications” are considered by nearly everyone, to NOT really be any form of valid communication. It really is simply “parroting” what they hear.

The strength and values of being able to express ideas, philosophies and techniques are what separates us from almost everything physical, it is an EXTREMELY Spiritual ability, and it is embedded in who we are.

The Word “Logos” was God’s first begotten expression of Himself. His first Word, His first Logos was Jesus… and it is no coincidence that the Word being expressed created another name of God’s Son… Genesis 1:3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

The (s)piritual and (S)piritual nature of man is manifested in the very truth that he/she may communicate through words, written or spoken. It is the Spirit, the Holy Spirit that manifests the reality of God, through our speaking(s) oral or written.

We have God given power to express His truth, or the corruptions of our flesh, and in most of our cases, a mixture of both.

James 3:

2

For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

3

Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body.

4

Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires.

5

Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!

6

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.

7

For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.

Everything is Spiritual or spiritual. Even in the denial of all things “supernatural”, within the denial a person is asserting a spiritual position. Anti-spirit, if you will.

It is interesting that the U.S. Supreme Court decided many years back that atheism, or non-belief is a religion. So in whatever expression… intended or non-intentional, the “spirit” of something is being expressed.

Any meaning… or, the conveyance of understanding, becomes “the spirit” of what was intended. In the description of emotion as a special example, there is a spiritual quality that cannot be ignored, something that goes well beyond the material. The word “love” is the expression of appreciation for someone or something, which has no other equal in definition. It becomes corrupted by most adjectives, and becomes Godly, and nearly unbelievable when the “unconditional” adjective is attached. Emotions are irrevocably spiritual in nature, and in their expressions that go beyond the primal, this is especially so.

And, this is true for believers and non-believers alike. There is no escape, for even the most clinical of non-believers from their emotions. They may even break it down into mere chemistry, but there is no running from the magic that emotions have over them. It remains spiritual, maybe not Spiritual… but spiritual nevertheless.

All of this is founded, understood, and expressed through words and especially through His Word, for He is the only real truth and through Him all truth is able to be understood… understood by word, The Word, by Logos.

It is He that provides all understanding of communications. He is not the author of confusion, and it is man that is responsible for his own corruptions and abuses of words.

Matthew 12:37 “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

The strength and values of being able to express ideas, philosophies and techniques are what separates us from almost everything physical, it is an EXTREMELY Spiritual ability, and it is embedded in who we are.

It is not an arbitrary thing that occasioned Jesus to answer the Pharisees about His disciples “…Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest”…

**
Luke 19:
39
And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”
40
But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”

**

This informs us that the Spiritual is embedded deeply in the material and non-material. That everything created and even created as not having mass… as in anti-matter, has an embedded Spiritual nature. There is no escaping the emotion of all creation…

**

Romans 8:
21
because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22
For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.

**

Think in terms of “…stones crying out” and, “…creation itself will be delivered from bondage” and, “…the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs”. Think in terms of the Word…

John 1:3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

AND…

Genesis 1:3 Then God said,
Genesis 1:6 Then God said,
Genesis 1:9 Then God said,
Genesis 1:11 Then God said,
Genesis 1:14 Then God said,
Genesis 1:20 Then God said,
Genesis 1:24 Then God said,
Genesis 1:26 Then God said,
Genesis 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them…

**

All He said, He said by His Word. He has left us with His Word, His written Word. He was begotten by our Father to be grand, and glorious in our souls. We are Comforted by the Holy Spirit with and by His Word. We are instructed by the Holy Spirit in all things, and all things are brought to our remembrance. The Word is written on our hearts, in the very center of our beings. You have been chosen from before the foundations of the world to become proficient in the use of His Word… even were you mute, your silence would cause the stones to cry out for you are His.

You speak, and even it is only in Body Language, you declare His power and majesty over all creation. You give everyone your life, and your life shouts out the testimony of Jesus.

The last sentence of Revelation 19 verse 10 states… “For the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy.”

In Genesis… I counted 9, “God said”(s). Please exercise mercy if I missed any. The Bible indicates not that He wrote in Genesis, but that He expressed Himself through what was “said”, this is extremely significant on more than a few counts.

First our Father has a mouth and that mouth is Y’shua, Jesus…

Colossians 1:
12
Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14
In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

Every time our Father has “expressed” Himself (Heb 1:3) through His Word it was done through Jesus. So in each of the 9 “God said(s)” of Genesis, the Father was speaking via His Word.

We are made in the image of God, and when we speak we typically do so with our breath. In like manner the Father expressing Himself via His Word, Breathed through His Son, to express His intentions. In both the Hebrew and Greek, the words used for breath have multiple meanings. Specifically spirit, breath, wind, air etc.

In the Greek Holy Spirit is hagios pneuma. And in the Hebrew it is ruwach h’qodesh. Pneuma and Ruach are spirit, hagios and h’qodesh are used for holy. Both pneuma and ruach are interchangeable for spirit, breath, wind and air. Of course our focus is in spirit and breath.

God is Holy, therefore His Breath is Holy. His Word is Holy, and it follows that when He says anything it is through His Breath that He forms His Word. So we have the Father abiding in His intentions, being expressed through His Breath or Holy Spirit and Word or Jesus. Now we certainly know that the fullness of His Holy Breath is much more than we may comprehend, but these are His true similitudes or analogies and as such, we can expect to recognize His purposes in making them so.

**

Hebrews 1:
1
¶ God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
2
has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
3
who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

**

Elohiym, speaks of God in a plural sense, El, Eloah or Elohay, as I understand them speak of God in a singular usage. But… Elohiym is the predominate use for God, throughout the Old Testament. With Elohiym we know that Jehovah is distinctly our Father, His only begotten Son of course is Jesus or Y’shua, and the Holy Spirit is His Breath. And all three are one.

Mankind’s use of words as mentioned previously, is what sets us apart from all other “animals”. It, the Word/Jesus is foremost among God’s gifts to us, and that which, by His giving nature, provides us entry into the realm of spirit. With or without God, the use of words is spiritually powerful.

In Genesis 11:6-7, we have the account of… “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” ~ This displays for us what it is we inherited through our ability to communicate through (w)ords… and sometimes (W)ords.

On the one hand we have, “Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord.” And, on the other hand we have, “If these were to be silent, the very stones would cry out!” It is words and especially His Word, which empowers us. It is His indwelling us that empowers us for good, and it is the fallen nature of our flesh that empowers (w)ords for commonplace or even, evil use.

What will we then speak or write..? Shall we speak of prosperity and of increase? Would our (w)ords be the things the gentiles seek after (Matt 6:32), when He, whom we worship, is King of the Jews?

Shall our words spoken, be the condemnation of a sinful world? Shall we declare words that list the letter of the law, rather than the Spirit of His Word? Not at all, let us enjoin ourselves to His testimony and His declaration of His Good News. The power of His Word is in the expression of His Light, His mercy and grace. Let the world’s reproof for sin, be the Good News of His liberty and deliverance from the wages of sin.

**

Romans 5:

6

For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

7

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.

8

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

9

Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

10

For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

11

And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

12

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—

**

We have Godly power in the Word when we express it. We have His Word on the tips of the tongues of our hearts..! Instant in season and out… knowing, that it is the Holy Spirit that gives us what we need to say and when to keep silent. Yes our flesh interferes often enough in the ebb and flow of conversation but, our confidence is in Him.

**

Luke 12:

11

“Now when they bring you to the synagogues and magistrates and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say.

12

“For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”

**

The Word of God, Jesus, lives in you and the Holy Spirit, our teacher, our comforter is ever present. God does not dole out His favor in miserly fashion to His bride, He is Truth and liberty.

**

James 1:

5

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

AND...

James 1:

17

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

**

He knows us, and He is not put off. He is fully aware of our short fall, and He is our strength and our righteousness. He is Himself within us, expressing His Word through us to fulfill His purpose. And His purpose is still His Good News.

**

Matthew 11:

7

As they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

**

A reed when it is shaken by the wind vibrates, many times producing a hum. This sound indicates three things, the presence of the wind, the presence of the reed and the words/sound that they, together produce. Again the wind is a representation of the Holy Spirit and of course John the Baptist is His last Old Testament prophet.

**

Matthew 11:

8

“But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.

9

“But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet.

10

“For this is he of whom it is written: ‘Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You.’

11

“Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

**

I love this passage as it comes from the Amplified Bible (biblegateway.com)…

**

Matthew 11:

9

But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one [[b]out of the common, more eminent, more remarkable, and] [c]superior to a prophet.

10

This is the one of whom it is written, Behold, I send My messenger ahead of You, who shall make ready Your way before You.

11

Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

12

And from the days of John the Baptist until the present time, the kingdom of heaven has endured violent assault, and violent men seize it by force [as a precious prize—a [d]share in the heavenly kingdom is sought with most ardent zeal and intense exertion].

**

You were chosen from before the foundations of the world to be a vessel for His use. The Word is seated on the throne of your heart, the mercy seat of your being, in your Holy of Holies. The Breath of God shakes you and He brings forth His Words out of your mouth in the seasons of His choice… in season and out of season.

You are not perfect, nor righteous, rather, you are perfected by His righteousness.

He gives to every person His measure of faith, and that faith/trust is in Him, our faith/confidence is in Him, our faith/reliance is upon Him. And faith is our love-expressive response, to His expressions of love… His grace and mercy.

Together, we are God’s Breathing of His Word through us, expressing His Love to those others which were also chosen from before the foundations of the world. Those “others” that were chosen, that have not yet surrendered the Life He gave them, to their King and Lover of their souls.

We do not know who these undeclared, fellow children of the Most High God are, but, He does.

Speak, Write, Declare the Good News, for He is our only prosperity. SHOUT, and yet be silent, for there are those times when (A)ctions are louder than (w)ords. He is our Balm our Healer. He is our Father’s only begotten Son and our Betrothed. He is the Breather into our earthen vessels, that Breath of Life.

He is our Word, our Logos, our Rhema. He is our Breath, our Pneuma, our Ruach. He is our Father, our Betrothed, and our Comforter. He is, I AM.

MARANATHA..!
