The Refiner's Fire (Poem)

Updated on September 15, 2014

The refiner’s fire

burns away the dross,

All of the excess and

what isn’t pure,

What are your expectations

when the flames are at their hottest?

Can you see the quality of person

you will become?

Or does your soul cry out for

instant gratification and relief?

As you go through fiery trials

Look into the Father’s eyes

when you study the Word,

Behold His love for you and know that

the fire will not consume you,

You may experience discomfort

But, understand that purity is the fire’s goal,

Even the flames have been commissioned

to bring forth pure motives and desires,

When you are tried and tested

in the furnace of affliction,

I encourage you to lift up your eyes and

Look to Him who has all control,

He knows the outcome and is working

all things together for your ultimate good,

The flames won’t get any hotter than He will allow!

At this very hour your faith is

going through the refiner’s fire,

Look to Jesus!

He authored your faith and will finish it

He will perfect those things which pertains to you,

The refiner’s fire will put the finishing touch

on your faith and translate it into holiness and love.

I like this. I describes life perfectly. I also learned what Dross means.

I praise the Lord for that fire that has refined me and that He is not finished with me yet.
