The Thirteen Benefits of Salvation
How do we begin to Understand God?
I was born into a physical world. I am very familiar with the physical environment. How can I start to grasp life from God’s perspective?
The word of God says below;
“But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2:14)”
God has given a pointer in a real life experience below on the direction and action we ought to take if we sincerely want to know Him, see His Kingdom, enter His Kingdom and be children inside His Kingdom. This enables a common being to have a walk with God in their inner parts. God desires to dwell in that human body he has given to you if you will let him. God does not live in a temple, church building, synagogue or mosque. He is a very special awesome God.
A Real life example
There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that you do, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus said unto him, how can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again. The wind blows where it wants, and you hear the sound thereof, but cannot tell where it comes from, and where it goes. So is every one that is born of the Spirit. John 3:1-8 (KJV)
To be born again, is to be inwardly changed from all sinfulness to all holiness. It is fitly so called, because as great a change then passes on the soul as passes on the body when it is born into the world. (John Wesley).
Physical evidence on Earth that points towards God
Most things on earth are statements from God’s heart of what he wants of us. Nobody ever looks at the sun. Similarly, no man looks at God lest he dies. The sun produces warmth and light to sustain life on earth. Our spiritual warmth and light feeds from God who lights our path.
Washing filth from our bodies each day is meant to remind of water’s cleansing function. The Spirit of God is characterized like water, rain, wind, air which function differently in nourishing, quenching, cleansing, purifying and transporting elements.
When we consume physical food, we ought to also remember our spirit needs spiritual food too lest we starve spiritually. Physical growth is gradual. So is spiritual growth. There is a marriage that is going to take place in heaven in future. We normally prepare for it practically on earth.
Death happens to everybody who dwells in a human body. Many people live through their lives without realizing their dead spiritual status.
The example on Nicodemus above testifies to this fact and tells us what to do about this condition. We can be raised from this dead status and be alive in Christ. See “The Making of a Saint”
“Ye must be born again”
“Humas de gennao anothen”
“Il faut que vous naissiez de nouveau”
“Ihr müsset von neuem geboren warden”
"Os es necesario nacer de nuevo."
What benefit is there in salvation?
Many are the benefits one gets after being born again. The word of God contains a bounty of blessings for whoever dares to come to him. All are welcome if they will only dare. Rise up from your worldly quagmire of uncertainty and claim your stake in the kingdom. I will try to list down only ten major gains every new child of God expects in God’s kingdom. Many will sneer at this, but you will prove it before long. The blessings you inherit on becoming a born again Christian are as follows:
You suddenly become pleasant to God
Scripture says “It is impossible to please God without faith”. If we are to be relevant to God, God needs to recognize faith in us for effective fellowship and relationship.
What is Faith? Faith is simply defined as complete trust in something or someone.
Faith is spiritually defined as a substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is a Currency or Credit that is applicable in a Relevant Location
Abraham's belief in God was credited to him as faithfulness. Faith is therefore credit. We either have it or we do not have it.
Faith is like a currency that you need to survive in a particular country (e.g. God's Kingdom)
One country's currency is not acceptable in all countries. Imagine trying to use the Ugandan or Tanzanian shilling in Britain, or the Rupee in Greece. Survival in such a country becomes an uphill task. This situation similarly applies between God's kingdom and man's natural existence on earth. Salvation gives man the right currency for use in the kingdom of God. This currency is called “Faith”.
You get to See the Kingdom of God
Many people want to see the kingdom of God. God has given a precondition for seeing his kingdom. In John 3:3 the Word says “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”. God simply urges us to comply with this requirement in order to see how his kingdom looks like. We can only perceive the Kingdom of God via our spiritual eyes.
You Enter the Kingdom of God
Everybody I have met wants to enter into the kingdom of God. Prerequisites to entering God’s kingdom are clearly spelled out in John 3:5 which says “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God”.
The scripture above suggests that the carnal man or woman cannot enter the Kingdom of God. One has to put on Christ and be clothed in him as spelled out in Galatians 3:27 which says “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ”. This has nothing to do with a mere baptism of water.
You Become a Holy Temple of God
God is a Spirit. Every spirit seeks to dwell inside an intelligent living creature. A human being is most preferred due to his intellect. Even evil spirits seek to dwell in the human body through by consent. Therefore, by your consent, the Holy Spirit enters and dwells in you. God does not live in temples created by human hands. He prefers living in a temple of clay that he built himself. That temple is the human body. God doesn’t want your money assets or property. He has more than enough. The Almighty God has everything. The only thing he wants desperately is you. 1Corinthians 3:16 says “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. He wants you to bend your free will and simply turn to him and give him what he wants most. You are his habitation on earth. This is because when he welcomes you in heaven, the Almighty God and the Lamb will be the temple in which you will enter and dwell. Revelations 21:22 reveals the absence of a temple in heaven and says “And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it” (KJV).
The cradle of Christianity
God Eats and Communes with You
God’s ultimate goal is to be with you and inside you so that he can share his intimate thoughts, work and plans with you. That is how close he wants you. If you agree to this, God starts working and talking through you. Revelation 3:20 says “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come into him and will sup with him, and he with me”.
Sons of God are heard by God
Any person who gives his life to God becomes a son of God. We do this by being adopted into the kingdom. Scripture does not mince words about this. John 1:12 says “But as many as received him, to them gave he the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe in his name” When you give your life to the lord, the Holy Spirit starts dwelling in you giving guidance to your steps. The bible testifies this in Romans 8:14 which says “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” This only happens when you are born again of the spirit of God.
Every child has a parent who communes, talks and hears them. Every human being lives by this state of affairs. Psalms 82:6 says “I have said, you are gods and all of you are children of the most high”
Micah 7:7 says “Therefore I will look unto the Lord. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me”
The process of being born again can be likened to the acquisition of The Passport to Heaven. There is a parallel in the spiritual realm as is evidenced in the physical. Your physical birth on earth symbolizes the most significant birth in the Spirit whose option lies with you.
Similarly, when you get married here on earth, be prepared for the ultimate marriage of the Lamb up on high. Sons of God marry only one wife. There can only be one wedding with the lamb, which does not include another one with the devil. Christ talks of marrying a bride and not a groom.
The Apple of God’s eyes
When you get born again, you become precious like the apple of God’s eyes, a very delicate part indeed. Nothing touches it without stirring wrath. Scripture says that he who touches you has poked their fingers into Gods eyes and should be ready for repercussions. If not now, then later. Zechariah 2:8 says “For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that touches you touches the apple of his eye”
A King's Crown
A Royal Priesthood
Every born again Christian is a member of the royal priesthood. You actually become royalty. You qualify to issue decrees as kings do as stated in 1 Peter 2: 9-10 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light, Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy”
You are a Holy Nation
You suddenly become a holy nation as stated above in 1 Peter 2: 9-10 “But ye are a chosen generation,a royal priesthood, a holy nation…..” A chosen generation called to be a testimony of God’s work on earth. God’s kingdom has citizens too. Are you one of them? If you are not, then ensure to get your passport to heaven.
Enthroned with Christ
A born again individual is said to be in Christ because Jesus dwells in him. Since the Lord Jesus is seated on the throne on God’s right hand side, you too are enthroned with Jesus as stated in Ephesians 3:5-6 “Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus”
A Peculiar Treasure
Anybody who is called into the kingdom of God becomes a peculiar treasure that is not common, ordinary or cheap in God’s eyes. You are unique and hence special. Exodus 19:5 says “Now, therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine”
When I was writing this article, my TV was showing visually challenged secondary school kids who were born again and dancing vigorously with abandon in praise of their Lord as they read SMS messages in braille. It was such a humbling experience to realize that I was no better than they were. A very peculiar treasure indeed.
We are Ambassadors for Christ
Are you born again? Then you are an ambassador of Christ as stated in 2 Corinthians 5:20 which says “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God”
You represent heaven on earth. You have diplomatic immunity from evil men and women, Satan and demons. A born again Christian is a messenger. Do not kill them. Listen to the message and follow to do it. If you could destroy the written word, then be prepared to prove yourself greater than God who brought it on earth through men and women of old. A fight against the word is a futile attempt. It might just reflect your measure of intelligence during your short stint on this borrowed space on earth.
You have Dominion on earth
All sons of God have dominion on earth as spelled out in Psalms 8 which says “Thou made him have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet”
Everything is under your control if you are a son of God. A Christian might appear to be vague, shallow or inept, but wait a minute. Do not underestimate their scope of influence. God's children have a profound influence that only shows to the more privileged. Are you privileged? Our inability to decipher the message is a definite mark that testifies of the absence of such privileges.
Salvation: How to receive Christ
You Become a Living Saint on Earth
Do believe me, when I say that you have been called to be a saint as stated in Romans 1:7 “To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ”
There are 95 scripture verses in the bible that testify to the fact that saints are alive in flesh and blood. You don’t have to die to be a saint. All sons of God are saints. The world might sneer at this. But God said it. I choose to believe it because the Word became flesh.
A few denominations water this down by holding claim to sainthood from a religious perspective that is not backed by scriptural evidence. One such religion elevates dead people to this status based on your earthly achievements after lengthy debates. Where does man attain authority to lift you to sainthood?
Various scriptures according to King James below display a contrast of opinion to this practice where Paul seems to refer to living men and women.
Many churches and denominations erroneously believe that one has to be dead in order to be a saint. The word of God repeats through many scriptures that a saint is simply a living believer who follows Christ’s teachings. Dead men and women do not speak and have no link with the living on earth. You cannot reach out to the dead and turn them into saints. That is vain and futile. It is not within a man’s power to make a saint of another man. God wants us to give glory to Him and not the dead. Sainthood comes with Christ’s entry into us. It is God’s perfect will that we become saints. We become saints when we personally invite the Spirit of God to dwell in us according to Revelations 3:20. Proof is found in the scriptures quoted from the King James Bible below which refer to living people, which you can verify using your own bible;
Philippians 1:1 says “Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons”
Colossians 1:2 says “To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse. Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ”
Acts 26:10 says “Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them”
The book of Romans 1:7, 8:27, 12:13, 15:25 say “To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ”. “And he that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God” “Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality”. “But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints”.
Psalms 50:5, 16:3, 116:15 say “Gather my saints together unto me, those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice”. “But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight”. “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints”.
Romans 15:25 “But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints”
Acts 9:32 “And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda” Glory be to The Ancient of Times.
These benefits would be enough to make me envious of the lot that calls themselves Christians. They sound like a privileged lot.
