Talking with Spirit

Updated on October 6, 2010

What is clairaudience? It is hearing spirit either through the mind which is called subjective clairaudience or hearing spirit externally, objective clairaudience. I hear both ways but predominantly subjectively.

The way spirit have described it to me is as 'thought projections', which is an excellent way to term it. Think of a screen projector, your mind being the screen which is receiving the information, in this case the sound rather than images. Another term they have used to explain the process of receiving sound through your mind is 'the mind being dislocated'. Which again accurately describes the process. A bone that is dislocated is still connected but just a little out of place. As they have told me there is a special place in your mind that their thoughts are projected to.

I hear the tone, pitch and cadence of a spirits projected thoughts to me. I can hear whether it's a male or female and how they are feeling from the emotion in their voices.

I use the term hearing for convenience; it isn't actually hearing, as if you blocked your ears you wouldn't be able to continue hearing, you do still hear just as loud with your ears blocked. I hear my spirit guides, who I call my helpers. People have different titles, angels, guides, it doesn't matter what name is used. The link I have is strong and I hear on a daily basis. My helpers guide me, help me to develop and teach me. I have a very specific role in the spirit world. Which is to help people in spirit who have yet to cross over. That can be from just listening to them, counselling or helping them to cross over.

For people in spirit to be comfortable with speaking to you there has to be trust. Sensitivity, compassion and a calm attitude is needed. For them to be comfortable with you, you need to be comfortable with them understandably. Just like any human communication, it works in the same way. People in spirit want to be treated just like that:as people. I have had many conversations with people in spirit telling me how they have been misunderstood by a human. Often the misunderstanding is fear. A person in spirit will do what they can to attract attention to the fact that they are present and sometimes that has resulted in the human fearing the worst. Interpreting the interaction as negative or something to fear.

I have been asked by a few spirits over time to let people know "that we do not intend to scare people". As well as "can you let people know that we are just like ordinary people?"

I can understand why a human would react to communication from spirit in a fearful way. Especially if they have no prior experience or have not ever looked into this side of life before. It is natural; part of human nature to feel fear, it's a fear of the unknown. What we don't understand we are fearful of. Spirit understand this too. Which is why I'm repeatedly asked by spirits why I am not scared or uncomfortable about them being around me. I meet new people in spirit all the time so it is a new question to them but it's not to me!

The people in spirit I work with are very specific, they are people who have either a lot of emotional ties holding them here or are in a state of confusion, don't know how they came to be where they are and so on. To give you an example this following conversation was from a spirit man just a couple of nights ago:

"I didn't know what had happened!"

"I didn't feel tired or ill"

"I saw people gathering around trying to help"

"I didn't know it was me"

"So I got a little closer"

"I tried to tell the people I'm here, but they ignored me"

He just wanted to express how it was for him, his experience of it. Sometimes that is all that is wanted, to be able to tell someone human. You would think that having other people in spirit to tell would give them that sense of relief of sharing it but it doesn't seem to be the case. I believe each person in spirit that I have around me feels their own needs and desires and are blinkered to their own emotions. As well as the fact that the desire is to tell a human that this is what it was like, to inform us of what we have yet to experience possibly. They can feel so shocked by the experience that they have a yearning to share their reality.

The overall feelings of who I speak to are that they can't believe how you feel once you are in spirit. How they feel just the same as when human. It's a huge shock to someone who thought and believed that when your body dies you die with it. It's a lot to accept when faced with a reality that you never believed in.

I feel privileged to be in the position I'm in and I never take it for granted. I'm on a journey and continue to learn with every interaction that takes place. Where this pathway is taking me I don't know, I happily go with the flow!

I hear people in spirit only, clairaudience, but do 'pick up' things about others through clairsentience. So yes I would say it is clairsentience you are experiencing, strongly. It also sounds like telepathy you are having.

I would definitely do some research about other areas like telepathy to see if it resonates with you, if I was you.

If you are hearing living people then it's not clairaudience. When you research and find something that makes you think yes! That's what I get! It's a huge relief so hope you find something that resonates with you and let me know if you do, love to hear.

Actually, that confuses me more. I know I hear living people. My children often accuse me of reading their minds when I get after them about something they are planning -- they claim they were only thinking about it, but to me, it sounded like they were talking out loud.

Sometimes, I realize that the other person is not talking, but not always.

My first occurrences of this happened in high school, during study hall, when I heard another student asking for help with homework. I was able to tutor him, without ever speaking, and I was able to double check that it wasn't my imagination by looking up the lesson he was working on in other books.

      Is that all Clairsentience?

You are probably confused because Clairsentience can apply to picking up things from people in spirit and living people. Clairaudience is only when people in spirit are heard, clairaudience is purely hearing. Hope that clears it up for you :) Thanks for reading

After reading this, and your latest article, I am a bit confused. Are the spirits you are talking to of the dead or the living?

Thanks Eileen, glad you enjoyed it!Your granddaughter is a sensitive, we all are just some are more open to it. I have had a few interactions with my relatives but they have crossed over so it's not been the same kind of communication as I have with lost people in spirit. It's up to them if they decide there is a reason to contact you. I understand your wanting hon.

Very interesting article. My grandaughter sees her other grandmother I cannot completely understand it, but wish I could do it though with some of my passed relatives.

Thanks Vicki! You are very lucky to have a husband who can understand your experiences. It certainly does change the way you view the world I totally agree!

Very glad you are not afraid :)

Hi Dawn71 I really enjoyed reading your hub about clairaudience, I was always scared of "ghosts" until my husband began mediumship, it opened my eyes up to a new world and a new way of thinking and although I am not a medium, since I have become open to it and believe it i have had different experiences and they were not scary and feel like a new person.
