You can tell a lot about a person’s characteristics based on their sun sign. Many people are not into Astrology, or maybe feel a little more skeptical about it than others. Is that because no one really tries to take the time to read about it? That’s what I thought before I went through the worst break-up of my life. I knew about my sign, but not so much of his. What I found in what I’ve read, we really are compatible! I am a Cancer and he was a Pisces. I became fascinated by the other signs and their matches and what each person’s sign has to say about them as well as relating it to the people around me. Some things may make you think that certain descriptions aren’t exactly true, but that’s because things go much more in depth requiring a lot more factors to take into consideration needing more detailed information about yourself for what is referred to as your Birth Chart. The research on Astrology seems almost endless and the findings may be a bit overwhelming to some. Enjoy!

THE BASICS: What is a sun sign?

The Sun makes its way around the Earth once each year. During certain times of the year it travels through each sign of the Zodiac. For example, in April, the Sun may be in Aries or Taurus considering when the cut-off date is in that month. In May, the Sun may be either in Taurus or Gemini. Each 12 signs of the Zodiac are paired in 3’s. Each sign is then categorized into elements which are Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn,) Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Air (Aquarius, Gemini, and Libra) and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces).

The 12 Signs

ARIES (March 21st-April 19th) Element: Fire

People under the sign of Aries like to dominate. They need to be in control and feel the need to pay more attention to their own needs rather than the needs of others sometimes. They are also the leader of the group. This sign represents the image of the Ram. They are very strong and enjoy giving advice. However, the negative side to that is sometimes they are quick to give judgment and criticism. Sometimes being too harsh, the may offend. Aries gets bored easily hence them having a passion for adventure. Aries will not let anything stand in their way if it means getting what they desire.

TAURUS (April 20th-May 20th) Element: Earth

Taurus is a sign of privacy and they are very stubborn. Their symbol is represented by a bull and they do have horns too. They are very stable and determined individuals though. Working hard and enjoying expensive items of luxury make them feel content. This sign is very self-indulgent. They can be rather stingy when it comes to certain things they value or possess. They are easy to talk to and pretty even-tempered. Changes are not made unless they are forced.

GEMINI (May 21st-June 20th) Element: Air

Gemini’s are full of intelligence. Their symbol represents a pair of twins. This means that they have two faces and you never know which one they may be wearing. They are witty, enjoy socializing and perhaps enjoy gossip. You crave change and like to keep your options open. Being around their crowd keeps them balanced. They are very clever and love talk and good conversation. It can be hard to keep up with their pace though because they are ever-changing.

CANCER (June 21-July 21) Element: Water

Cancer is the most emotional sign in the zodiac. They tend to save everything they have some sort of emotional connection to especially if it is something relating to their past. They’re not one for change because of fear of the unknown. When they love, they love deeply. One of the many very important things to a Cancerian is that they need security in all aspects of their lives. Being at home is not a problem to a Cancer. This is also the motherly sign of the zodiac. The Cancer women prefer a cozy night a home rather than going out sometimes. They are content with the small things that matter. After all the Crab is the symbol for this sign.

LEO (July 21-August 20th) Element: Fire

Leo is the sign of the zodiac that is represented by a lion. Leos have a good-hearted nature and loves being in the spotlight. They love attention. Don’t catch them up on a bad day though, for the Lion will roar, and rattle everyone else around them. Leos stand up for what they believe in and are not afraid to make it known. Much like Aries, Leo also likes to be in control and dominate. They can give advice, but sometimes if you don’t put their advice, they try to take matters into their own hands and try to make the changes for you. Optimism and protectiveness are some other traits too.

VIRGO (August 21st-September 20th) Element: Earth

Virgo is the analytical sign of the zodiac. They like serene, peaceful environments. Creating harmony and helping solve problems are things they work well with. Virgos tend to be pretty picky at times which then makes it more difficult to find the right mate for them. They may try to make someone into the right mate for them which in their eyes, they are only trying to help you as they see fit. Virgos like to be neat about things. They organize and reorganize and make sure their surroundings suit them in the proper fit. Virgos are easy to get along with, as long as you give them time to have their own space. They cannot stand to be smothered.

LIBRA (September 21st-October 22nd) Element: Air

Libras are the most stubborn signs of the zodiac. They may appear very selfish and insensitive. Libras enjoy being social and engaging themselves in intellectual conversations. They are ready to give their opinion and let themselves be heard. Libras need balance. Their signs symbol is the scale. Harmony is what they want most out of life. This may not always be good though because Libras like to avoid confrontation and will say anything to someone if it will prevent an argument from happening. If they can avoid chaos, be certain they will.

SCORPIO (October 23rd- November 21st) Element: Water

Scorpios are all about passion, yet they are unpredictable. They are extremely protective and nothing can stand in its way to harm anyone they care for. The symbol for Scorpio is the scorpion. Its stinger can wound deep if it feels under attack and forgiveness is not something they can sit well with. Jealousy is another trait in their possession, but it is just their way of stepping in and trying to do what they do best, protect. Scorpios are easily adaptive with deep feelings for what they desire.

SAGGITARIUS (November 22-December 21st) Element: Fire

This sign is not like Scorpio. It is hard for Sagittarians to express their emotions; however that does not mean that they don’t have them. This sign is open to ideas and ready to take on any kind of challenges. They love feeling accomplished at what they do and they admire the boost to their ego when others take notice too. They are prone to “biting off more than they can chew,” so to speak because they are highly energetic and work on impulse. They are always ready to just jump right in and see how they do with it.

CAPRICORN (December 22-Janurary 19th) Element: Earth

Capricorns are far from lazy. Their sign is represented by a goat symbolizing their way of slowly making their way to the top of any life journey. They believe in hard work, determination as well as dedication. They love to be praised and often have a cold demeanor because they keep their emotions to themselves with their “loner” demeanor. Capricorns like to dominate and be on top of things. With a deep desire to reach their goals, they can be insecure at times too. In order for them to remain in tune with others, they need to feel the deep connection.

AQUARIUS (January 20th-February 18th) Element: Air

Aquarians are very opinionated but possess many friendly characteristics. Their sun sign represents water which symbolizes refreshing perspectives giving drink to the world. When they have made up their mind, they’re rarely persuaded and stick to what they think or believe. They need time for personal freedom and work quite well independently while very closely paying good attention to their surroundings. Often they wonder if people feel the same way about them that they feel about them. Just like the air signs of Taurus and Libra, this sign can be very stubborn as well.

PISCES (February 19th-March 20th) Element: Water

Pisces is the dreamer of the zodiac. Their symbol is represented by the fish faced in opposite directions. They are rather sensitive, emotional and very intuitive (much like the Cancer sign). Pisceans are very laid back and easy to get along with. With deep compassion, they help those in need and give generously without question. However when some Pisceans are faced with trouble, they’re more susceptible to engaging in addictive behavior whether it be drugs or alcohol. Even though this sign is emotional and sensitive, they can swim away without having to look back. Something that is much harder for a Cancer to do because their pinchers always feel safe holding on.

The Astrological world branches off in so many directions that there is much to learn and the information is endless. You can find a lot out about yourself as well as getting to know the other signs of the zodiac too. Information about your sun sign and sun compatibility make way for an intriguing method as to how you may approach different people. These are just generalized statements about each sign, but once you go in depth with them, it can teach you so much fascinating information that will have you wanting to know more.

Awesome! This was one of the few articles on here that explained Leo perfectly! You clarified us as the LIONS we are and not the little kitten some pseudo-astrologers try to tame us into. But I thought Taurus was the most stubborn sign, not Libra. And after Taurus, the other fixed signs.
