The Absolute Secret for Winning Battles

Updated on August 22, 2011

I have been through some really rough battles. It felt like being in Iraq with no weapons right in the mist of the battle field; bombs exploding everywhere (rejection letters and foreclosure notices) and guns being fired directly at me (utility shutoffs and creditor threats.) My life felt like it was being constantly and overwhelmingly attacked. I just wondered, “How do I survive this outright war against my life? How do I survive these vicious attacks?”

I finally found the answer!

I have learned to trust God completely. I have learned that God will shield me from all harm when I do not fear and totally trust Him!

From the Holy Bible (King James Version):

2 Chronicles 20: 15

Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”

Ephesians 6: 10 - 11

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

I picture God in front of me with my arms wrapped under His armpits, my hands holding tightly onto His shoulders and my head held down resting against His back as I follow Him with full faith through the war zone. He ducks and dives and swirls and pushes forward. He victoriously slays all evils trying to attack. He is determined that He will get me to my destination safely, and I completely trust that He will do just that!

From The Holy Bible Deuteronomy (King James Version) 1: 30:

“The Lord your God which goeth before you, He shall fight for you, according to all that He did for you in Egypt before your eyes.”

Yes! I get to witness the Lord fighting my battles . . . How amazing is that?

I tried to fight my battles alone, and I got seriously wounded. I have always believed in God, but for some reason, when times got tough, I felt like I needed to jump in and defend my territory. I thought I was tough. I thought I had some power. I thought I could defeat all the evils coming at me all by myself. I got whooped! I finally decided to return home and get my Father (The Almighty God.) I returned to my battles with God, and you know how we get when we know we have something bigger with us that we know can easily defeat our enemy. “What are you going to do now?” We yell powerfully and confidently from behind our protection.

We all of a sudden feel fearless. “You think you’re all that! Bring it on! Bring it on!” You know what I’m talking about! Like when punks or hoodlums reveal their guns to their enemies or a child shows up with the bigger sibling who could easily defeat the BIG bully, they come to the battle feeling fearless, powerful and confident. This is how I feel when I show up to my battles with my God.

To get through my horrible battles victoriously, I had to learn some truths. First of all, I had to learn that I have no territory to defend! Everything belongs to God. He is just letting us enjoy it.

One of the most important things I had to learn was to simply be still and quiet and have total faith in the ability of God. It’s like a horror movie when the hero comes to rescue the damsel in distress. Doesn’t it irritate you when the damsel in distress continuously screams and cries out while the hero is trying to rescue her? “Shut up!” most people yell at the screen. Her loud screams distract her rescuer from doing what he needs to do to get her to safety. That’s exactly what we tend to do when we encounter difficulties. “Oh God! Help! I’m scared! What am I going to do? I can’t take it!” This can be extremely distracting to God. It delays the victory. When God is working hard to get us to our victory, we need to be quiet and trust Him completely! We need to listen attentively for any instructions He gives and comply promptly. This is the absolute secret to guaranteed success . . . Unwavering faith in God and total obedience to His commands.
