In the previous article I mentioned sun signs, elements and qualities in relation to astrological compatibility. A rule of thumb so far is that signs in the same elements work well together because they share similar natures and temperament. Also signs within the same quality group, though different and share a less easy bond can connect because they are in similar positions in the zodiac wheel. In this article I will talk about polarity and masculine and feminine energy.

Each sign has a polar opposite sign. This is called Polarity each of the twelve signs are put into pairs with six pairs in total. Polarity represents signs that have contrasting and dueling natures of which can be potentially beneficial to and complement that sign. Think of it like opposites that attract. The opposite signs pair are Aries and Libra, Taurus and Scorpio, Gemini and Sagittarius, Cancer and Capricorn, Leo and Aquarius, and lastly Virgo and Pisces.

Each of these signs has the qualities that their opposite signs can learn from. An example is the pair Cancer and Capricorn. Capricorn is an earth sign so they are stable and practical, even so they can be cold and unemotional. Cancer on the other hand is a water sign so they can be emotional, too emotional at times. These signs are opposite because there basic natures are contrasting, even so they have something the other sign needs. Cancer can warm up Capricorn and allow for the natural expression of emotion and Capricorn can ground the overtly emotional Cancer.

Masculine/Feminine Energy

Another factor is Masculine and Feminine Energy. Fire and Air element signs have masculine energy. In the zodiac masculine energy are the initiators, dynamic, and extroverted. Water and Earth element signs have feminine energy. Feminine energy are more receptive, practical and introverted. It doesn't matter if you’re a male with feminine energy and a female with masculine energy, it refers to energy, not sexual orientation or how masculine and feminine you are. More than likely we have a combination of both masculine and feminine energies in our Natal Charts.

Basic Rules of Measuring Sun Signs and Compatibility:

There is some logic to compatibility and attraction in astrology. If you notice that for the polarity sign pairs share the same quality and energy. An example would be Leo and Aquarius, they share the same quality which is fixed and though different elements, fire and air, they share the same energy which is masculine. Basic Rules for using sun signs for compatibility are that Fire and Air, the masculine energies are good together and that Water and Earth, the feminine energies are good together.

For compatibility on the basic level so far the factors to look for and consider is element, quality, polarity, and energy. Stay tuned to the third and final part of the Basics of Astrological Compatibility series. I hope you enjoy this article. If you have any questions or opinions comment below.
