The False Gospel - The Subtractions

Updated on May 5, 2017

The supposed gospel in the modern church system is not the true Gospel, but is proclaimed almost everywhere today. Many say, 'But my church preaches the Gospel.' Under closer scrutiny, the gospel in the modern church system is really only bits and pieces of the genuine Gospel that misses many of the key components that was given through Christ and the apostles.

Carnal man has stripped away its essentials to a more palatable 'soul-winning' version.

Unfortunately, the bastardized gospel is hidden in plain site where virtually all are unaware of the abomination that it is. Promoting another gospel and another Jesus has been conditioned into the masses as an acceptable product. We must sound the alarm on those who insist on the counterfeit, and admonish those who will listen to weigh and test all things through the filter of God's word.

During the time of the early ekklesia, error had crept in where men started to redefine, change, add and subtract new practices that deviated away from the genuine Gospel. Error started to choke out the purity of what Christ has done.

Today, the modern church system looks absolutely nothing like standard that God gave to His ekklesia through Christ, but has become a bastardized version of it.

Pure White Building

The Pure White Building

Think of a pure white building that we will call the pure Gospel. It is pure white because it has no additions, or subtractions.

What do you think happens when someone comes along and paints or adds a different patch of colour on the building?

It does not cover the entire building, but because it is on a backdrop of white, it will stand out. More attention is put on that colour than the pure white. As time goes on, others come along a spray on their own patch of graffiti, or symbolism upon the building also. What was once a pure white building is now cluttered with a collage of images and symbols that have nothing to do with the pure Gospel at all. The pure white gets lost behind all the man-made additions.

The unfortunate thing is that the name of the building is still called the 'Gospel,' but no longer resemblance to the pure Gospel. This alternative 'gospel' has been created in the image of man and no longer represents what Christ has done, but highlights what man is doing instead.

The antichrist gospel is an alluring and glitzy message that appeals to many. It has so many additions, or subtractions that it has become a tangled mess that has departed from the Spirit of truth. Many are in a spiritual slumber being lulled by Satan away from clarity of a sound mind and purity of thinking because they have allowed themselves to become enslaved in the bondage spiritual Babylon and its gospel.

The Bastardized Gospel

The bastardized gospel is centred on the agenda of man. It is a me-centred message that weakens, dilutes and undermines the true Gospel of Christ. The deception of the me-centred gospel is that it cloaks itself by using the same terms as the pure Gospel, but appeals to the carnal self. It is a gospel that is man controlled that promises programs to improve and motivate people to make them feel good about themselves.

The antichrist gospel abandons what Christ has done, the essentials of dying to self, confessing our sins, repenting and being made new in mind and spirit of Christ. The false gospel is in direct opposition to Christ because it focuses on man. It allows man to be in control and call the shots rather than Christ.

The antichrist gospel is shallow and cheap and focuses on man’s temporal needs. The counterfeit is easy to swallow and comes with first-class service with salaried clergy. There is a smorgasbord of activities to choose from. Everything from concerts, revival meetings, crusades, charitable duty as a means of attaining God.

The wolves in sheep’s clothing go ahead of God and make a lost soul a piece of merchandise for their own benefit. Once a gullible person enters into their four-walled environments, they are hustled to buy their latest religious wares. The bastardized gospel is mass-marketed with a never ending glossy assortment of books, CD’s, DVD’s and the many other forms of entertainment to add revenue to their corporate religious agenda. The CEO pastor gets giddy when new people come through the doors as potential members who will help fill the offering plates and pay for his salary.

The church podium is a means to embellish and promote ministries for the monetary. Money-making schemes bilk people of their money as they fall for the sales tactics of the clergy. Promotional stunts pull on heart strings to get emotions inflated as this is the opportune time to pass around the tithing plates.

Many unfortunately believe that they are to function in the same way as worldly organizations with board members, CEO’s and professional salaried staff for the Gospel to function properly. They view ministries as a vocation, or as a lucrative career choice.

The antichrist gospel is selfish and focuses on a sacred building. People herd in through the doors to partake in a warm and fuzzy environments to get admiration, accolades and feel-goods from their peers. Sentimental feelings take precedence over conviction of sin. They wait for their temporal fix of pablum from the pulpit rather than maturing by allowing the Holy Spirit to lead them to truth.

The bastardized gospel comes with membership rewards. The kingdom of spiritual Babylon has no responsibilities, just perks.

What has happened to the Gospel message of being obedient to the commands of Christ?

What has happened to the Gospel message of fessing up and taking responsibility for our own sin?

What has happened to the Gospel message of the requirements for entering the Kingdom of God?

What has happened to the Gospel message of the consequences of stubborn disobedience?

The antichrist gospel is in complete opposition to a sinner knowing what a wretched mess that they are. It is complete opposition of having no hesitation about giving up a life that is yoked in the bondage to sin through the redeeming blood of Christ.

Most of all of today’s preaching subtracts from the purity of the true Gospel.

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. – Matthew 16:23

Many don’t want to hear that they have to bear the cross of Christ to follow him. Dying to our carnal self would take away all the warm and fuzzies that many are used to in the professional church service. People want a painless process that is filled with bliss and blessings. They ignore the pattern that Christ has set for those who truly believe in him. They don’t want to hear that there are conditions to salvation. They do not want to accept that we must take up our cross daily, crucify our flesh, deny ourselves and yield to Christ, our appointed Commander and Chief.

When the cross of Christ is removed from the Gospel, an antichrist spirit will takes its place. The visible symbol of the cross mounted on the wall in the church auditorium is the substitute. The distinction is that the symbol that hangs on the wall has been carved and manufactured by the hands of man. The same symbol is used in all the institutional churches today, but the irony is that it is also around the necks of rock-stars who openly mock Christ with their carnal seductive displays of vulgarity on stage. Many don’t realize that their graven cross exalts the time when the dark prince of this world attempted to remove Christ from the earth. The 'T' of the cross represents Tammuz and is the substituted that represents satanic victory. Many blindly fall before this graven image carved and hewn by the hands of man.

The substituted image of the cross is among the ranks of the phallic symbols of the obelisk and other serpentine fertility symbols. The modern churches, cathedrals and buildings with their phallic steeples are giving homage to a bestial antichrist gospel that serves those who want their the temporal needs fulfilled and their ears tickled.

Removal of the Blood of Jesus Christ

The modern church has contaminated the blood of Christ. The antichrist gospel gives man the authority to be the mediator between the people and God, rather than Christ. Their leaders masquerade around as the 'redeemers' by promoting their own ministries. It is only Christ who can regenerate our degenerate carnal selves. These false prophets make themselves gods among the men as 'bloodless Christs.' They become the necessity for the people over the efficacy of the true Gospel. The 'bloodless Christs' are the means of the gospel in the modern churches today.

Removal of Guilt

The modern church does not want to hear that they are guilty. The fact is that most are completely unaware that they sinning against God. They have chosen to follow the angel of light that enables free-will to live your life your own way with your own rules guilt free. The gospel of the angel of light is in alignment with spiritual Babylon (the kingdom of darkness) where Satan has complete rule and authority in their lives. We see the carnal blessings of many as Satan gladly rewards those who follow and seek after temporal blessings in their pious religious templates.

Removal of Conviction

Conviction is easily removed from the pure Gospel through religious achievements, activities and experiences. Somehow, the action of going to church, feeding the homeless and partaking in social justice initiatives washes sins away. The true Gospel has been replaced and measured by self-righteous religious activities, rather than by what Christ has done. The accolades of man hinder the Holy Spirit from convicting many of of their sin.

Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment - John 16:7-8

Removal of the Fear of God

The concept of tough love is a myth in the modern church system and has been replaced with an unconditional love that tolerates just about everything. God is no longer revered and feared. Admonishment, discipline, chastisement and even expulsion are replaced with, 'Jesus is a friend of sinners.' The 'Jesus' that is promoted is their homeboy who is an easy going guy who loves you just the way you are. In fact, you don’t have to change a thing.

The removal of the fear of God caters to a different god who accepts sin and everything else without the exclusive requirements of the true Gospel. It is a god that wants to keep those in bondage to sin under his dominion and control enslaved within spiritual Babylon.

Removal of Repentance

Repentance is the desire to leave a life that is in bondage to sin. It is a commitment to no longer participate in carnal activities of man. It is resigning from working for the prince of darkness with the ability through the grace of Christ via the Holy Spirit to leave and turn the things that are bound to Satan. It is not simply a mental assent, but also an outward action that manifests in a true believer. Without repentance there is no true believer, no conversion and no salvation in Christ no matter how many ways you want to spin it. Each man and woman must confess their own individual sins and disobedience towards God and repent of them. We must allow the Holy Spirit to wash us and have victory over our past and present sins.

Why is it that the gospel of the modern church rarely mention repentance?

Repentance isn’t a vague acknowledgement at an altar-call, or feeling sorry that you have sinned.

The problem today is that most have no guilt for their sin because they believe in inherited sin and believe they were born this way. Sin is treated like a disease that you got from birth and you cannot help it. You just join the religious crowd and feel sorry for yourself being void of believing you can have victory in Christ in this day and age.

Removal of Purity and Holiness

Christ was a perfect example of a man who was pure and holy before his Father. He practiced self-denial, self-control and gave up his rights and aligned them with the will of the Father.

The Holy Spirit does not take residence in a defiled vessel that hasn’t been washed clean. We cannot follow the example of Christ, nor expand the Kingdom of God without fulfilling the requirement of being holy and acceptable before God.

The counterfeit gospel says that if you just say that you have accepted Christ, then that is good enough. In fact, all they say you have to do is recite the sinner’s prayer and you’re good to go. It even gets simpler, you just have to raise your hand, make your way to the altar and bow down before their graven symbol of a cross that hangs upon the wall and make your decision to accept your own 'personal saviour' before a salaried official. After that, just come at least once a week and fill the offering plates to be deemed what they call a 'Christian.'

This is a false and counterfeit gospel.

You can add all of these things into the mix, but without self-denial, the acceptance of Christ means absolutely nothing.

The gospel of the modern church makes money from selling you their wares that will enhance and make you thrive on their terms. You may be exalted and esteemed within the religious system, but the true Gospel is about the denial of self. It exalts and esteems the work of what Christ has done, not the self-righteousness of what man is doing.

Removal of Christ as Lord

The reality today is that the church board is lord. They decide matters of the faith with pre-decided agendas. The matters of worship are proclaimed upon a platform that caters to an audience that wants to be entertained. Everything is scripted and scheduled to a 't.' The sophistry upon the pulpit is spun in a way that audience can place their orders off the menus and submit them to their version of 'Jesus.' All we have to do is ring our little dinner bells and 'Jesus' will cater to all our carnal temporal needs.

In contrast, the ekklesia are led by the guidance and authority of Christ, not a church board. The word of God is the final authority in all matters of the faith. Christ has the absolute authority over his body in all matters. His followers walk in submission to his commands by doing the work that he has commissioned them to do.

The church board and committee are deemed as counterfeit replacements. These imitations allows man to be in control instead of Christ.

Removal of the Holy Spirit

The counterfeit antichrist gospel puts man in place of the leading of the Holy Spirit. The professional, salaried priestly class with their glittering titles have become the in-between instead of Christ. Church members have become solely dependent on these middle-men who give themselves esteemed titles and are regarded with king-like status. They usurp the ministry of the Holy Spirit and deem themselves teachers, counselors, annointers and comforters who believe they are the ones appointed to guide us in their truth.

But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and YOU HAVE NO NEED that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him. – 1 John 2:27

Christ is the only one we are to run to for redemption. He is our Comforter, Counselor and the Spirit of truth who is available to all without any man-made mediators getting in the way.

Counterfeit ministries consist of proud unrepentant sinners who usurp the ministry of the Holy Spirit, and set themselves upon high pedestals in man-made temples.

The true and pure Gospel of Christ has been systematically removed from the modern church and replaced with a man-centred “gospel” that has been given a makeover to suite the carnalities of the people. The leaders and the people that attend these buildings on prime pieces of real estate on every other street corner are under the influence of the hierarchical structure of the worldly system ruled by the prince of darkness. It is a diversion from the true Gospel with all the subtractions and deviations from the foundation that Christ and his apostles died for.

PandN- Thanks for explaining. I have no clue how to unshare a Hub. I don't know if there is some kind of "Shared by" icon that you click to share a Hub. Heck, it's possible I could have done someting like this myself without realizing it. I sure hope not. To address your second question, it's not a page per-se, it is what you would normally see before you click into one's Hub. Simplely the Title, the name of the writer's, then immediately following it states " shared by PlanksandNails. I hope this helps.

Thanks PandN for letting me know. Blessing.

P.S. In the future if you see that I may have done something like this would you please let me know?

Thank-you for bringing this to my attention. I have been scratching my head and wondering why I could have unintentionally shared a hub. In fact, I really don't know how to share someone elses hubs. The only thing I can think of is that when I use my tablet by scrolling through a hub and touching the page, I would have unintentionally hit the like, or share tab on the screen. Is there a page where you can go to unshare? Also, where is the page that you can see the shares of others? I would never promote, share or like any article that promotes false doctrine. I get your concern. I think I know what article you are in disagreement with ("bishop") and I concur with your concerns as well. Again, thank-you for adressing this.

PandN- Just so that there is no misunderstanding on my part I need to ask a question. You just shared ( for a secound time) a Hub in which I have strongly opposed the writer opinion. When one shares a Hub I take this to mean they are in agreement with it's contents (and this could be the misunderstanding on my part). Although it is within your right to share I don't understand your motive or reason in these two cases. I have not noticed that you have done this to others so I'm trying to understand why. I don't want to misunderstand your motive in this so will you please give me some clarity here?

The clergy love their titles, but fail to notice in the epistles that Paul and the other Apostles addressed themselves by their first name and identified their gifting and function after. It wasn't the other way around.

The egos of the clergy would be crushed if they were addressed without a professional title before their name. In fact, many demand it. What if you called them a "servant" before their name? Quite simply, it would be a slap in their face.

The sad reality is that the man-made world of organized religion has completely different ideology and structure than the one Jesus Christ died for. They are in opposition to all who they feel threatens their sense of importance.

Get used to it as we contend for truth of the true Gospel. These same religious spirits stoned Stephen. Those who are anointed by the Holy Spirit will bring fear to the religious spirits that sit in seats of governing authority that do not belong to them. The governing authority belongs to Jesus Christ only.

But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking. - Acts 6:10

PandN- Your comment to Lifegate is very true. In the Kingdom of God the title of Pastor, Pope, Bishop or whatever other rank of clergy they choose to wear has no value. I mentioned that in another Hub recently and the "Bishop" deleted my comment. In false churches, the clergies love their titles.

I believe that once we become true followers of Jesus Christ we are ALL called to be ministers of the Gospel with the gifts God has given us. What many fail to understand is that the modern "church" focuses on the titles of man, rather than ALL believers being functions of the Gospel. We are functions of the Holy Spirit who is in us. Those who make career choices of the "gospel" attempt to put themselves in a different class than everyone else. Unfortunately, they fail to understand that in the Kingdom of God there is no clergy/ laity structure whatsoever.

All true believers will have headaches and heartaches because each one of us has our own cross to bear. When you ask a clergy member in the "church" what they do, they say they are a pastor, bishop, apostle, teacher, etc..., identified by what they are paid to do. They have made a career (salary) from the "gospel." A true pastor (adjective) is a function of the Gospel, not a professional label, or title (noun). Paul was a tent-maker by career (salary) , but an Apostle as an nonsalaried function (servant) of the Gospel. Many have it backwards; therefore, what they do is in vain. Most will hate me for saying this, but anyone who is salaried to serve is a lover of money no matter how many ways they spin it; therefore, disqualified as a true minister of the true Gospel. Salaried "pastors" create members, but ALL those who function via the Holy Spirit is what creates true believers and disciples.

The Word of God is what qualifies the descriptor of the function that is NOT an ordination title. The Gospel is NEVER a career (salaried), but the function of the Holy Spirit that is in you and every other true believer that heeds the instructions of Jesus Christ without pay for the Gospel.

      Hi PandN,

" They view the Church as a career choice, which is a good way to make a living." No disrespect intended, but I had to laugh when I read that line. No one in their right mind would ever choose the ministry unless it was in God's plan, in which case there's no escaping it. I realize the ones you are talking about have not been called and therefore, don't have the headaches and heartaches that must go along with the ministry as we are called to suffer and follow in His steps. The true ministry is one "career" that no one would ever accept in the flesh. Yet in a fleshly way, many choose it. They may seem to be successful on the outside, but inwardly, well . . . .The call to the ministry is a work of God upon the individual; not something we can pick and choose on a a whim. Thanks for another spot on hub!

I believe we are in a time where the religious "gospel" of man must be systematically dismantled and exposed for the abomination that it is. We have the Word of Truth in our arsenal and the instructions of our Commander, Jesus Christ. I believe that there are many reprobates in spiritual Babylon, but there are still many who are still salvageable. These are the hardest people group to reach with the pure Gospel as they have been conditioned through man-made tradition. Time is quickly running out. This religious world of man is a spiritual wasteland filled with garbage, and so many people are rummaging through it trying to fill themselves up with temporal things. They will always have a gaping hole inside them until their eternal need is met. The Holy Spirit needs to rag-doll them with the truth.

I believe for their to be victory is that those who are in the army of Jesus Christ must know what they stand on, which means that our swords must be sharp. Some of us are sharpening stones, while others are sword wielders, both are just as important as a skilled swordsman with a dull blade has little effect. We all have seeds that we can plant, but without living water the seeds mean absolutely nothing. The "gospel" of the Antichrist spreads their seeds and uses sewage to make them grow. The pure Gospel requires pure living water for anything to grow and flourish in God's Kingdom.

We need our brothers and sisters whom Christ has brought together to proclaim the pure, undefiled Gospel no matter what the cost. People's eternal destinies are at stake. It is a rescue mission for those who don't realize how lost they are? That is why we must be bold enough to proclaim the truth whenever and wherever the Holy Spirit leads.

You are right. Revelation speaks of the bastardized "gospel" of organized religion

For all nations have drunk the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich from the power of her luxurious living.” - Revelation 18:3

I am blessed you are part of the cause contending for the true Gospel and fighting for truth. Not many are willing to carry their own cross and allow Jesus Christ to be in control.

It is a great privilege to know someone who has left the religious system of man. Because you did without abandoning the Word of God, you are sharper and sounder in the true faith. The distracting voices of carnal man are no longer longer there, which makes it much easier to hear the instructions of our Commander. I consider you a fellow soldier in Jesus Christ with a unique gift and ability to dispense truth. Thank-you for sharing your experience.

charlie 3 years ago from From Kingdom of God living on Planet earth. between the oceans

Wow Brother PN you have it nailed here. cant wait for the 2nd part.

Every person professing to be a CHristian needs to read this.

Our writing styles are very different but we agree it is time to purify and separate the TRUE church from the churches of men. But how do we reach those that have bought the lies of complacency and dependency on the false church instead of the Lord? Going to “ church” has become a status symbol and is more important to the hirelings ( so they get theirs), than BEING the church as Jesus commands. Let those that have an ear to hear, HEAR.

The problem is people have been so indoctrinated with the false love taught by the hirelings that they cannot see the difference because the TRUE is not very comfortable and down right painful at times, but they must learn it is the ONLY WAY. Jesus said "I did not come to bring peace but a sword." Being comfortable is not one of the things He promised us. The cross we are to bear is heavy and rough hewn so it will not bring comfort , but it will bring the peace of the Lord Jesus. The hirelings are promoting a false peace between God and man , and this is NOT what Jesus brought.

When these false ministers are saying, God loves you as you are, God understands, and promoting their methods of pleasing god ( the god of self love and acceptance) Jesus is crying out to those who will listen “come out of her my people”. Where they are saying No rules, God says here are the rules you MUST live by to please Me. Oh where are the faithful men actually called by God, we need them.

I believe the 18th chapter of revelation can be applied to the "churches of men" because it fits with this teaching very well. They are selling all the things mentioned, yes, coffee shops in the lobby of their edifices (can't let them be without their hearts desires), emergency food supplies ( can't trust God to take care of you, let us help), jewelry ( as a reminder of the church you are bound to), and all manner of stuff.

Rev 18:2-8 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury."

4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 6 Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. 7 In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, 'I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.' 8 Therefore her plagues will come in one day — death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her.

Heb 3:15 "Today, if you will hear His voice,

Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion."

PandN- While I was studying last evening and I came across this verse that spells out everything you just said. But of course it is not as detailed.

2 John 1:9 (NKJV) states: 9 Whoever transgresses and does NOT abide in the dortrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and Son.

Your Hub really helps to understand the difference between the true and false Gospel.

I do believe there are some within the man made churches who realize that something is worng with in the "church" they are attending , that something is not right about the doctrine they're hear. They have enough decernment to realize something is not right. But the fear of of disfellowship pulls at their strings and they feel their is no where else to go. And therefore feel trapped. The fear that by somehow leaving the " church" as they know it that somehow God will abandon them completely. There are some who sense the false doctrine but the fear of leaving is greater than the fear of staying.

This happen to me many many years ago. But I finally stood up to the elders of the church a challenge the doctrine an number of times. Point out errs in their doctrine and was told that my course of direction can cause my disfellowship. What went through my mind then was if a pastor of a "church" can stand there a support even the slightest bit of untruth then this can not be a man of God. So in the middle of the service I finally walked out and never looked back.

I did not feel good about it at the time, I did feel lost that there was nothing there to guide me any more. But at the same time I still had my bible. Nothing could take that from me. AND THAT MADE ALL THE DIFFERNCE IN THE WORLD.

Thank you for another fine Hub and for sharing it with us.

      Your bother, graceinus.
