The Bible is Greater
The Bible is Greater!
The Bible is great!
66 books encompass the Bible. There are 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament. 66 books by 40 different authors composed over a very, very long period of time. When you consider the journey, the context, the comprehensiveness and the composition of the Bible it is clearly a divine miracle. That is right it is a miracle unto itself. It is not simply a book as some would suggest as it is God inspired. It has to be. There really is no other explanation. The prophesy is not and could not be some great coincidence. It is indeed the greatest book ever written and is clearly God inspired. It inspires hope and it should inspire great confidence. It covers more than several thousand years. Yet, the chapters, the verses, the passages and the messages all are all obviously related, intertwined and linked together. All linked together! Can you even imagine and contemplate that they are all linked together and the context of what that itself alone means? It is truly God inspired and directed. So completely encompassing and compelling. It is a prognosticator like no other. It really is. It is God’s plan and His ultimate “love note“ to us if you will. Boy He loves us so very immensely and so very intensely. It is agape love. It has no boundaries. It is enormous. He is our biggest advocate and our biggest fan.
The results speak for themselves. They clearly do. Is there any other book in history like the good book? I really don't think that there is any other book similar to or greater than the Bible. Not really even close. No where near. It is compiled and composed over many, many centuries yet each and every book build on each other and relate to each other. That can only be a God thing. The prophesy is so very amazing. There simply is nothing like God's word; absolutely nothing. There is nothing greater than God's word. Nothing even compares to it. Nothing illustates such incredible examples. It is the greatest book ever written. It is not just a book it is THE BOOK.
It is so very powerful. Jesus asks many times, “Have you not read?” Nothing gives us such inspiration. Nothing gives us such great teachings and life lessons. Nothing gives us such instruction. Nothing gives us such information. Nothing gives us such hope, grace, forgiveness, love and redemption. He calls it abundant redemption. It is a lesson like no other. It truly is and certainly especially when you consider the context. He chooses mercy over judgment for all of us. Starting with Genesis and going all the way through to Revelation, God gives us His plan for us and shows us His love and His incredible mercy. His mercy is unending. He provides the Savior in Jesus, part of the Godhead Himself, the Messiah and He alone is the answer for sin. All sin; yesterday, today and tomorrow. The history is incredible. It is our very own life manual. It is completely great. It is so very compelling. The prophesy is indeed downright incredible. It is perhaps one of God's greatest gifts to all of us. It is so very important to our salvation and our sanctification. The Bible is indeed a treasure. It is in fact the TREASURE.
The Bible has been banned and burned. It has been outlawed, banished, refuted, disrespected, disputed, debated, desecrated, questioned and ridiculed. It has been taken out of our schools and in many cases it has been deemed as inappropriate and politically incorrect. Scotland alone made it completely illegal and against the law to even possess, own, lend or quote a Bible for well over 150 years. (early 1400's to mid 1500's ). Somehow the Bible made it through the violent Crusades and other religious wars. Still, the Bible has withstood it all and it is still right with us just like always. It will always be with us. Just like our Lord it is always there and just like our Lord it gives us hope. Today's world needs the Bible and it's teachings probably more than any other time in the history of the world. The world is so very, very lost. Just look around or turn on the news. The Bible shows us how God wants us to treat each other and it's greatest message is to love one another. It is the greatest teaching tool of all time and Jesus is in fact the greatest teacher of all time. You and I will be long gone and forgotten and they will still be reading the Bible and they will still be talking about Jesus. They always will. Jesus tells us that " My words will never fade away." They never do. The Bible has been translated more than any other book in the history of the world. From Hebrew to Aramaic to Greek to Latin to English to Spanish. It has lasted generation after generation. There are many versions of the Bible. It does not claim to be a science, history or medical book yet all of the science, history and medicine in the Bible is and has been proven to be absolutely true. Biblical prophesy is amazing. You will find the ultimate encouragement throughout God's word ... The Bible. What an incredible message and what an incredible blessing. Moreover, what an incredible Jesus. We cannot take it for granted. So take a ride on Route 66. It is a journey that you will both need and enjoy. It is a journey you will indeed love. It is the greatest journey of all. There is nothing greater than God's word. Absolutely NOTHING GREATER ......
The Bible is indeed our life manual and Jesus Christ is the most incredible role model, teacher, mentor, example and Savior that ever exists. He is the perfect Lamb. Everything He does is done out of love. Remember Him in all that you do and remember His never ending love for you. After all, it is His word and it is His world and it saves each of us. He LOVES us, He adores us and He TEACHES us.
I really did not expect to write the following reference to the time element but I feel it is imperative and so extremely vital to understanding this.
So here goes. Let us first define the denotions of time. BC means Before the Birth of Christ. AD stands for Anno Domini which is Latin for “ in the year of our Lord. “ Again, based entirely on His birth. Some people think it means ( after death ) which it clearly does not. We are 2,018 years after the birth of Christ. Jesus lived 33 years. So we are 1,985 years after His death and 2,018 years after His birth. So that is where your time context begins and is defined. Contemplate that our entire system of time is based on the life of a poor Jewish carpenter. Time is defined by the life of Jesus. Based on His birth in a small town named Bethlehem ( The City of David ). With me so far? ... Great.
Digest it for a moment.........
OK, back to the time reference. This is of utmost relevance and importance. Try to understand this even from just a purely historical, chronological, conceptual, geneological and/or factual perspective. Not even necessarily from a religious or spiritual perspective. Understand and comprehend the context of all of this. Just how important it is and make the PARELLEL yourself.
Let us first examine cruciifixion and its history. The very first crucifixion takes place in Greece in 479 BC ( 5th century BC ). The Athenians are the first to practice this horrific torture process for capital punishment crimes and executions. Crucifixion is next used by the Phoenicians from approximately 450 BC to 150 BC. ( 300 years ). It is introduced in Rome in 150 BC and they perfect this vicious, torturous, sadistic and violent execution process. They employ crucifixion and even develop methods utilized in the process to the extent that it becomes extremely difficult even to breathe and the victim would ultimately die from asfixiation. Rome utilizes this cruel torture technique for more than 500 years. Finally, the emporer Constantine abolishes it ( Crucifixion) in the late 300’s ( 4th century AD ). So, from strictly and simply a historical and contextual perspective, it ( Crucifixion ) is not even invented or utilized until 479 BC. It lasts roughly 900 years.
Now, let’s examine the biblical as well as the historical prophesy. Specifically Isaiah 53 and it’s reference to the Savior. The prophet Isaiah writes his Book of Isaiah roughly 700 years before the birth of Christ. Keep in mind once again crucifixion has not yet been invented. Maybe even longer as his ( Isaiah’s ) life span is 60 years ( 740 BC to 681 BC ). The book by Isaiah is and has been very well documented and researched. It is included in both the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Septuagint. Certain Psalms also exist in the Torah ( Hebrew Bible ). The book is acknowledged as being authored centuries before these scrolls but included in them. Are you with me so far? .... Good. So Isaiah is a prophet and he foretells the future. He is so accurate and on the mark that it eventually leads to his very own demise. Many became very scared and afraid of his prophesy, predictions and foretelling. Fear of the unknown. They end up sawing him in half at the waist. Ouch!! Below I will label Old versus New Testament Bible verses but first I I want to highlight some of the words used in this prophetic writing. So here goes:
Despised, Rejected, Stricken, Smitten, Afflicted, Wounded, Carries, Sorrows, Chastised, Laid, Stricken, Offered, Pierced, Oppressed, Slaughter, Cut, Bruised, Poured, Death, Grieved, Offered, Labored, Served, Numbered, Bore, Intercession, Justified, Satisfied.
Each of those are mostly verbs and are what your Savior has done for you. That is how much He loves you. Thanks be to God.
Next, we will examine Psalm 22. This passage is written and authored by King David. This is written more than about 10 centuries before the birth of the Christ. Wow, are you understanding this? The Psalms are dedicated to the Lord by David. The defining word Psalm is an Ancient Greek derived word meaning the strumming or playing of instrumental music.
It is based on the Greek word Psalmos. It even sounds like songs. The Psalms are found existing in each book that is referenced after it sequentially which include but are not limited to the Septuagint and the Dead Sea Scrolls. They are also included in the Quran ( the Islamic Bible ) and some exist in the Torah ( the Hebrew Bible ).
So that is the context for the Psalms being included and contained in those three historical references as well as the Quran ( Islamic ).
King David lives from 907 BC to 837 BC. He lives to the age of 70 ( 3 scores and 10 ) as the Bible puts it. He reigns as the King of Judea for 40 years from 877 BC to 837 BC. He begins his reign at the age of 30. Similarly, Jesuus begins His ministry at the age of 30. Psalm 22 begins with the phrase, My God, My God why have you forsaken Me! ( Eloi, Eloi, Lama Sabachthani ). These are the words of Jesus from the cross that are prophesied 900 years BEFORE His arrival and more than 400 years BEFORE crucifixion is invented by the Athenians. Woe!
Here are the referenced words from Psalm 22:
Forsaken, Anguish, Cry, Scorned, Despised, Mocked, Encircle, Trouble, Surround, Tear, Death, Poured, Bones, Melted, Dried, Pierce, Divide, Fulfil.
900 Years before Christ and 400 years before Crucifixion. Are you getting this?
In summation, the most recurring theme in the Bible is love. God is great and His Bible is great. Moreover, His Love is great. It is quite outstanding and astounding. Look how He adores us. His love is awesome. Completely agape love. GOD LOVES US !!
In conclusion, and I don’t mean to oversimplify, but it really comes down to simple math. David and Isaiah ( the writers of Psalms and Isaiah) could not have possibly known about crucifixion and certainly could not of known Jesus. They are indeed amazing prophesies and you and I are given amazing grace. I want to apologize for the length of this Hub/Blog. The more this is researched the more prophesy is uncovered. You need to read both Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 and note they are 700 and 900 years Before Christ BC respectively. So you have some homework. All of this is history. It cannot be altered or argued. It happened. Maybe instead of history it should be called His/ Story. The Bible is God’s ideation for His people who He loves so very dearly. The Bible is not provocative. The Bible is not news. The Bible is deliberate. Very deliberate. The Biblle is TRUTH. The God honest truth. God says what He means and He means what He says. The Bible is great. Really great! Below are some verses to consider:

Luke 1:46 ( New Testament) the context of this by Mother Mary is quite amazing. She is 13 years old and visiting her cousin Elizabeth. She has not yet been visited by The Holy Spirit. She is not yet pregnant with Jesus but the Angel has announced to her the coming of the Messiah and how God has favor on her. She writes that ALL generations will call her blessed. They surely do. You
And Mary said: My soul magnifies the Lord. And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant: For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. For He who is mighty has done great things for me. And holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
1 Peter 1:35 ( New Testament) Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
Revelation 21:4 ( New Testament) And God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.
This is a fantastic acronym. It really is so true. The Bible is the:
Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth
It truly is just that.
God bless you always.
He loves you!
