Lies Disguised as 'Truth' in the False Church System

Updated on August 2, 2017

PlanksandNails' goal is to be a catalyst in encouraging the followers of Christ to pursue Biblical truth for themselves.

There a two groups of people that are manifest today that claim to follow Christ. One is called 'church' that is a religious system that incorporates the ways of the world and the other group are a scattered people called the ekklesia who are led by the Holy Spirit. The distinction can be made on who or what is their authority.

Are we to cast our votes concerning the issues of God or is there already a standard and guideline for the the followers of Christ already?

Why is it that what most people call 'church' is a religion of lip service that compromises the true faith in practice and behaviour?

The modern church system promotes a cesspool of false doctrines. It is not a spiritually safe place to attend religious buildings of business where man is in control instead of Christ.

Preachers shout from the pulpits that we can receive whatever we ask for if we have enough faith that essentially means sowing the monetary into their offering plates or buying the religious wares they are selling. We are told that we can take over the world for Christ before he returns and can attain great power and do even greater miracles than Christ and the apostles.

When people come to the realization that they have been duped with false teaching, they come out of the religious system more confused than when they went in. No one ever pointed them to simplicity and purity of what it means to be in Christ.

For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ. But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. – 2 Corinthians 11:2-3

Satan does not want people to know that Christ is our headship and covering. He wants you to believe that it is your Pastor. Those in the church system focus solely on the words of the their esteemed hirelings instead of abiding in God's word. The people’s affections lean more towards their clergy as their loyalty, allegiance and passions do not point to God through His Son. This is an epidemic within the church system today.

When we love man and their traditions more than we love Christ, then the genuine faith has been compromised. True love (agape) is about standing up for what is right without the fear of man. The world wants everyone to tolerate each other and not offend one another in the name of 'love.'

Unfortunately, this concept of love is counterfeit as it accepts blatant lies over the truth.

True love (agape) for God and for our brethren is being willing to rebuke falsehood. Many times this will bring rejection from others as pointing to the true Gospel will be foolishness to those who desire to justify their sinful behaviours. People don't want their sin exposed for what it is and will persecute you and others to maintain their rebellion against God.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. – 2 Timothy 2:15

The purpose of the religion of attending a religious institutional building is to substitute Christ for their own advancement of their worldly kingdoms on earth. They try to amass for themselves members who are used as merchandise for their different versions of Christ and seeker friendly doctrines. The things of this world are their reward where the people at the top make a lavish living off the backs of their members. All one has to do is to take a step back and look at what they do inside of their doors. Unfortunately, many are too blind to seeing what is happening right in front of their eyes.

The ekklesia are the genuine followers of Christ do not partake in the the religious carnality of the institutional church system. They have seen the thorns and thistles that the fake substitute produces and are often persecuted by others for standing against it. They understand that the Gospel is not a product of commerce where wolves in sheep’s clothing abuse the word of God for their own advancement by pandering and marketing their wares for personal gain.

“‘I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. – Revelation 2:2

You can bet 99.9% have never heard this above verse taught from the pulpit in the modern church system.

Has anyone told you that displays of power done in Christ's name does not guarantee that it is the work of the Holy Spirit?

Man pleaser
Man pleaser

It is only through the precepts of God’s word via the Holy Spirit that we can gain understanding of the false ways of the world. His word is the lamp unto our feet and a light to our path. Chasing after the false signs and wonders and miracles is the wide road that leads to idolatry. Having the mind of Christ does not equate with pulpit peacocks who boast of their good works with the latest fashionable spirituality as a means to attaining God.

Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defence of the gospel. The former proclaim Christ out of rivalry, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. – Philippians 1:15-17

It should be noted that Paul is speaking of two parties in these verses. One speaks truth with good intentions and the other speaks truth with evil intentions. It is imperative to understand that people might teach right doctrine, but with wrong motives. In contrast, there are those who have right motives, but teach wrong doctrine. There are those that may preach the Gospel correctly, but fail in discipleship. They can create great numbers in membership, but fail in pointing others to learn the ways and being obedient to Christ. The true Gospel is about preaching the genuine Christ and what he has done and making disciples.

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. – Galatians 1:6-10

The additives of the traditions of man appeals to everyone, but distorts the Gospel. Many do not realize that those who consistently practice a lifestyle that is not in alignment with the way of Christ are children of Satan. It should not be a question of not knowing whether it is or isn't of God. The truth should be ingrained within us to know what the leaven is. To be a leader within the church system requires laying down the sword of truth. Negligence and compromise is the standard to keep the monetary rolling. Acceptance and the accolades of man take precedence over the truth.

A genuine leader will speak up and stand on truth no matter what the cost. The standard of Scripture can address any issue; therefore, no one should submit to the bullying tactics, peer pressure, nor appeal to the relative opinions of man. All thing should be filtered through God's word.

Many commit spiritual suicide by walking through the doors of the harlot church system. If people are not taught to test everything and hold fast to what is good, there will always be deception.

Although something may work, it does not necessitate being the truth. It must be tested first on God’s standard. The many false revivals that are promoted today are advertised based on people’s own personal experiences rather than the testament of the words of Christ and the apostles found in Scripture.

You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”? – James 4:4-5

The harlot church commits spiritual adultery. Their gnostic doctrines bilk people of money by promoting that you can discover the great secrets and mysteries of God. If you buy their books and attend their seminars with their special anointed speakers, you will be able to attain the higher echelons of God.

Many fail to understand that there are no new revelations and the purpose of God through His Son has already been given to us.

Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works – Revelation 3:22

One of the evilest forces seducing those within the church system today is the Jezebel spirit that is led the masses into spiritual adultery. Pastors have become spiritual eunuchs who are controlled by her power and seductive ways.

If more people had the attitude to examine Scriptures and filter all their questions, feelings and opinions through it, they would not be swayed or captivated by seducing spirits and every wind of doctrine.

Unfortunately, not many have the fear of God within them to contend for the truth no matter what the cost. The eternal destiny of many are at stake. People must be willing to reject and disregard people who teach falsehood and do not hold onto the precedence of the teachings of Christ and the apostles. We are called to persevere to the end. If you are not persevering in the faith, then it is not the genuine faith.

Does the church you attend preach feel-good messages to appeal to the audience every Sunday?

      Ove Lackell,

H.A. Ironside preached reformed theology and Calvinism. This type of theology does not trace back to Christ and the apostles.

Most "Pentecostal churches" do not believe in ETERNAL SECURITY!

And if they do not believe in that precious foundation, they have totally misunderstood what Jesus did when he died on the cross.

ETERNAL SECURITY BY HARRY IRONSIDE explains this beautifully!

You have used Philippians 1:18 out of context.

The difference is, in the surrounding context of the verse is that the preachers that Paul spoke about in Philippians simply used Paul’s imprisonment for their own benefit and preached the TRUE GOSPEL with ill motives. Yet, they were still preaching the TRUE GOSPEL.

You cannot use this verse as a justification for the preaching of a FALSE GOSPEL, FALSE DOCTRINES and a FALSE CHRIST. The premise of your comment falls flat when you have clearly have not rightly divided the word of truth.

Your comment is a good example of the reason I wrote this article.

Do you remember? 1 Timothy 2:15 was quoted in the article.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, and their talk will spread like gangrene. -- 2 Timothy 2:15-16

You failed to put the scripture from phillipians in context. Philippians 1:18New International Version (NIV)

18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

Yes, and I will continue to rejoice,

The question you need to ask yourself is have you put to death the sinful nature in your own life? Things like greed, lust, idolatry, covetousness? Can you not see the truth of you own motives for this article? Use some discernment on yourself. Many of the statements are correct and seem very intelligent. But you are going to be in for a shock. Ask God to show you how he sees it. You've not really asked him yet or waited for the answer you have used your own understanding. Your still viewing things as a human through your eyes view through Jesus eyes. Are you really better than anyone else? As the scripture says " what do you have that you did not receive? Your going to have to start from the beginning again. Do you have the power to save yourself? Does the lord not know whose are his? Was it not decreed a long time ago that the weeds and the wheat should grow together? And is the lord not still the author and perfector of our faith? As I say start from the beginning, at the cross. Your revalation is incomplete. You published this article in haste, you are selecting scriptures to support an argument that is biased toward a point of view that does not take into account so many other scriptures. Many have tried to conclude this subject regarding the church system but no man is able to conclude correctly. Only when Jesus returns will the old order pass away. For now we wait patiently and humbly and remain patient with our brothers and sisters who the lord will save by the might of his own arm. This article has spiritual pride all over it and what's interesting is you have failed to see it in your own heart.

      Philippians 1:18New International Version (NIV)

18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

Yes, and I will continue to rejoice,

Well done! I grew up in a denomination.....My father became a minister in it. Though he was humble and did away with the title Rev. And truly had a heart for the people.... / Then got married and ex and I were a part of husbands home church. All of life centered around church. Started to see false teaching. Then we started singing at places that asked us to and sometimes for ex to preach a message. Then he decided to enter the ministry. Fast forward.. Left Babylon...

The truth will set us free but the truth in the church has become a abomination because most churches is only a bisness.

I call these churches government established "jesus franchises."

Yes, everyone believes that the pastor is their covering and they are released from personal responsibility, financial stewardship or speaking out against false or incomplete teaching. When the pastor is greedy or squanders collection money, the majority of people (including my husband) say, "oh well.. The Lord will judge him. That's not my problem. I am supposed to give."

I strongly disagree with that position. Everything is our problem. We will be judged for not judging the pastor, I strongly believe that.

What it comes down to is knowing the distinction of what behaviors lead to carnal mindedness. Someone who has a carnal mind is controlled by their fleshly desires. Someone who lives in a lifestyle of entertaining their fleshly desires is a slave to sin.

When Jesus Christ forgives us of our sins, He also releases us (sets us free) from the enslaving power sin has over us. Our minds are transformed and renewed from a carnal mindset to bringing everything captive to the obedience of Jesus Christ.

A true follower of Jesus Christ that abides in Him will change from a probable lifestyle of sin to IF you sin. IF means that there is no longer a probability of continually sinning because the power of Jesus Christ (grace) in us gives the ability to do His will by being able to live in a lifestyle that holy and righteous before Him. IF we sin, we have an advocate; it is not WHEN we sin. WHEN means that we are most likely to.

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. - 1 John 2:1-2

God’s true grace not only forgives us of our sins, but empowers us to live a life for Him free from the bondage of carnal mindedness. The only way to overcome a carnal mind is through the blood of Jesus Christ. It is only by the work of His power in us that will enable and give us the ability to do His will.

Masturbation is a sin when it leads to carnal mindedness. Carnal mindedness leads to carnal behaviors. A lifestyle of carnal behaviors is a lifestyle of sin. Those who are sinful are of the devil ( 1 John 3:8).

The desires of the flesh are in opposition to desires of the Holy Spirit. That is why by the grace of Jesus Christ we must crucify the flesh daily. (Galatians 5:16-23)

The modern "church" caters to carnal unconverted "Christians," not real ones. When the leaders preach a dumbed down "Gospel" and use carnal means to do it, it creates carnal men. To keep them attending the building, they must to resort to greater carnal means to do it. The modern "churches" are filled with unconverted carnal people who ignore the small percentage of those who sincerely want to follow Jesus Christ. Bilking people of the one true God ignores true worship and impoverishes them. Scripture is not being lived out in corporate "Christianity" whatsoever. It is a man driven agenda.

Those who want purity, truth and Jesus Christ MUST leave the building; He does not dwell there. Staying among them will result in starvation. For those who truly want Jesus Christ will allow Him to be in control rather than men.

      Neil Braithwrite,

Today's corporate "church" is no different than the money changers in John 2. The distinction today is that the temple system does not apply to the true Church. We are temples of the Holy Spirit. The carnal system that steeped in the traditions of man will continue to carry on, but God does not dwell there. Corporate "churches" are devoid of the Holy Spirit: therefore, to drive the money changers out them would be a superfluous endeavor.

The true Gospel is a reflection of what Jesus did and the result of His grace. He drives out the garbage and fills His temples (people, not buildings) with the Holy Spirit.

("Who, in Jesus' name, has the courage and conviction to drive them out?")

I believe the hardest people group to reach are the people who have sold their souls to corporate religion. These people believe that they can attach Jesus' name to anything and it is redeemable practice. All the additions to the Gospel God considers them an abomination. The true Gospel has absolutely nothing to do with what man does, but everything to do with what Jesus Christ did. Adding to what Jesus has already done says that what He did was not good enough.

I have to agree that the modern church is going downhill and that there are many church leaders out there stepping away from the tried and true faith that comes solely from the Word of God. Worldliness is being mixed with Scripture to make the church experience more appealing to the backslidden Christian and the unsaved religious attendee. I am still baffled why hardly any churches, except house churches, practice the participatory meeting structure outlined in 1 Corinthians 14:26-33.

26 What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up. 27 If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. 28 But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God. 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. 30 If a revelation is made to another sitting there, let the first be silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. 33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.

The story of Jesus “cleansing the temple” is the only incident anywhere in the scriptures where Jesus actually resorted to violence. Jesus was obviously very upset with the unscrupulous business dealings going on in the temple - what Jesus called “His Father’s house.”

What was it that made the man of peace, love and turn the other cheek snap and go off that day in the temple?

In today’s corporate church, pastors and church leaders take money from the congregation and spend it as they see fit. They majority of it is spent on things that have nothing to do with spreading the gospel or ministering to the body of Christ or the needy. It’s mostly used to build and maintain buildings, pay salaries and insurance, purchase musical instruments and audio/video equipment and technology, pay mortgages, pay for marketing and advertising, and the list goes on and on.

Jesus drove the money changers out of the temple – today, the money changers run the “church.”

Who, in Jesus' name, has the courage and conviction to drive them out?

      Dear Planks,

I have a question concerning a different topic to this particular hub. My question is, Would you consider masturbating a sin?

    • PlanksandNails profile imageAUTHOR

Very good points. Most TV ministries are charities that have ulterior motives. Some of the worst "charities" in America have been exposed for contributing less than four percent to their cause. The IRS grants them "charitable" status with tax exemption, yet they bilk people of their money by pulling on their heartstrings and using guilt in their solicitation. The CEO's, including "church" leaders get a six figure salary, but are shown to contribute next to nothing to the cause. What an exploitation to their tax exempt status. It is no wonder that these same corrupt people promote the false doctrine of tithing too.

Thanks for adding to the theme as they are very important details to consider. God Bless.

That is a good question. Unfortunately, many attend "spirit" led meetings that are not led by the Holy Spirit. They call it a "church" meeting and even use Jesus' name, but their ulterior motives are from the traditions of man. True disciples of Jesus Christ, including those God has called to be leaders must learn to yield to the Holy Spirit, which includes every day tasks. If one cannot do this in their own personal life, they cannot do it as an undersheprherd. Spiritual responsibility in discipling others absolutely requires the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

When "leaders" are not led by the Holy Spirit, the result is the modern "church." Scripture reflects the unfortunate results:

The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit. - Jeremiah 2:8

Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees... Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. - Matthew 16:5-12

Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts - Luke 20:46 (Mark 12:38)

For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered. - Jeremiah 10:21

Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD. - Jeremiah 23:1

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. - Colossians 2:8

By simply referencing a few Scripture verses reveals the result of the modern "churches" that are called church that have abandoned the Holy Spirit. The Bible that is the authority on all matters of the faith easily exposes the counterfeit.

The reason so many "churches" go through a depression period when their pastor leaves, or has to step down is because the "church" was led by the pastor, not the Holy Spirit. The "church" often splits up as a result.

My challenge to every pastor is, what would happen if you were to leave your leadership role? The result would reflect whether the people were discipled and whether you followed the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Although, many will disagree with me, I believe that having a single pastor authority is wrong, even if they are claiming that they are listening to the Holy Spirit, and representing what God wants the church to do.

The reason is that is that there is no real difference between "church" and the papacy of the Roman Catholic church?

Even with all the teaching of trust, love, and edifying one another still will still create a lack of faith in the Holy Spirit because believers are never given the opportunity to function in their gifts.

Most pastors are all about protecting their authority and title, and asserting it.

The Early Church structure had an Antioch-style arrangement. The members of the body were not on the outside, like the modern "church," but on the inside, where mature leaders led by the Holy Spirit kept the new converts safe. In contrast, the new converts in the modern "church" are unprotected; therefore, they are not in a position to be discipled and educated in the essential doctrines of the faith and encouraged to seek the direction by the Holy Spirit of what role their gifting can be utilized in the body of Christ.

      My question is,

When do you see a new convert at the center of the body? They aren't, they sit at the sidelines watching until they show their works for approval by the pastor. Does that sound like family? It is more like a humanistic corporate system.

Why is it that only the pastor must be the only one baptizing? Aren't all believes called to do it? Yet others do not learn to be part of functioning as part of the body of Christ.

A revival in a locality would require pastors to humble themselves to their proper role in the body of Christ and make Jesus Christ the Head. Additionally, this would require all believers to take on their God given responsibilities and function. This would render the pastor to functioning as a servant, which many would detest.

How will we know whether we are doing thing God's way? It is often called persecution and perseverance. It requires getting off the playground and on to the battlefield.

Pastors need to fully understand this next statement,

Christiandom must NOT be put under the authority of a pastor and/or pastoral leadership, but the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ given by the Almight God, the Father.

That is the distinction between the true Church and the counterfeit.

PandN- I would like to mention the TV ministries we see today are just as bad if not worse than the ones on street corners. TV ministries are a billion dollar a year industry. So instead of "going to church" one can be spoon fed false doctrine while watching TV. And if you pay such and such amount to their ministry you can be a "GOLD" MEMBER FOR ONE YEAR"!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Good Morning PandN,

I like your opening statement, "There a two types of churches that are manifest today. One incorporates the system of the world, and the other is simply led by the Holy Spirit." I would however, question whether the first mentioned is even a church at all. This was a very clear and readable hub. Thanks.
