The Church and... Introduction
A little explanation...
is required before I start publishing the articles contained in this series. Each one starts with a quote taken from the former President Jimmy Carter’s book called Our Endangered values.
At no time will the articles attack Mr. Carter, that is not the purpose of the writing of these articles. It is just that in this book Mr. Carter has made key statements that need addressing.
These quoted statements are not original with Mr. Carter, he just happened to place all of them in one source that made it very easy to access and quote. I have heard many other people say the same words.
So by stating that these quotes come from his book is not attaching any accusation towards Mr. Carter but merely recognizing where we got the words. The quotes could have come from anyone.
The topics of each quote may still be controversial or anti-biblical despite the many different churches and denominations that have altered their biblical position to accept these ideas.
The topics covered
by the quotes from Mr. Carter’s book include pastoral leadership, fundamentalism, true believers, church & state, judging, inclusive & exclusive, unchanging dogma & social issues. Plus, the topics of secular science, discrimination, same sex preferences, healing, and evangelism.
These articles will not be written or published in any particular order. There is no need for that as each topic can stand on their own outside of these series. They are all equally important and one doe snot stand higher than another. Also, each article will start with a quote and page number from Mr. Carter’s book.
Each issue needs to be dealt with by the church in hopes its ministry to the unchurched world, and the hurting believer improves. I trust that God will teach you much through this series. When the word church is mentioned it strictly refers to the true Christian church and not false religions and cults
Keep in mind that as I write,
I search for the truth and strive to follow the spirit of truth in each topic. No interpretation is being applied to Mr. Carter’s words or biblical verses.
Jesus said we will know the truth and he did not say that we would know or can use interpretation. Please do not try to interpret the words written for you will be reading into the topics things that were not intended to be said or said.
Contrary to former president Clinton’s determination of that it is how the receiver perceives it that is important, any communication depends on how the speaker or writer intended his or her words to be heard.
If there is any misunderstanding then the onus is on the reader to clarify what the they do not understand and not falsely accuse the writer or speaker of things they did not write or say.
The intent of the author or speaker is key not the eisegetical interpretation on the part of the reader. In other words, if you do not understand a point or two, ask. Don’t assume, leap to a conclusion or read into the written words in this series.
Thank you for taking time to read the different topics found in this series
Since I have limited church pictures, some duplicates will be used. Sorry about that
