The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Is Not Mormon's Church

Rodric's opinion of the Restored Gospel's doctrines change as more revelation comes. In the meantime, reasoning and perception rule the day.

The president of The Restored Church of Jesus Christ has issued his latest words to the world and the church. President Russel M. Nelson has said that it is improper to refer to the Lords Church as the Mormon Church. The prophet has said that we should not refer to ourselves as Mormons or LDS.

Mormon doesn't have a church. Heck, Mormon is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ. Mormon is a great prophet and military leader who helped produce one of the most remarkable records of all time, The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

This is what President Nelson said:

The Lord has impressed upon my mind the importance of the name He has revealed for His Church, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We have work before us to bring ourselves in harmony with His will. In recent weeks, various Church leaders and departments have initiated the necessary steps to do so. Additional information about this important matter will be made available in the coming months. Church Newsroom

So, I, as a member of the Church will no longer refer to myself by the name of the man who has a sacred book of scripture named after him. It was a nice nickname while it lasted, but I am ready to move on and follow the council of the prophet.

President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Nobody Cares President Nelson!

That was the first bit of reaction from those in the church who see this as an unimportant action for the 94 aged prophet to consider. The Lord impressed it upon President Nelson's heart to move forward with this action as it has been in the making for a long time.

If I wrote a book, The Book of Rodric: Another Testament of Jesus Christ (I did write one though, so...), and wanted to use it to prove to the world that Jesus Christ did live--because I have years of history in that book so that the world could discover it if they just read it--I would not want the believers of that book to call themselves Rodrics!

Inquirer: So, what religion are you?

Me: Rodric

Inquirer: Oh, are those those people who believe in eating fried chicken and watermelon squares while praying to Star Trek characters?

Me: Rodrics believe in Christ and we only worship Him, not Capt. Jean Luc Picard or James Tiberius Kirk! We only look at Star Trek movies and series and cosplay.

Inquirer: I heard that y'all have to eat chicken every day and that watermelon is supposed to be like a sacred food that you can only get in Summer.

Me: Well, most Rodrics do like fried chicken, but I can eat watermelon anytime it is available. Cosplay is not secret, just fun. We do it when we get the chance.

The reasons we have stumbled so much is because we were too busy hiding behind the name of a man so that the implication of our position as Christ people did not convict us more of our need to do His will in helping the poor, healing the sick, raising the dead, and showing forth wonders where we go.

What is Wrong with Mormon?

Nothing is wrong with him. He died a long time ago. Lucky for us, we have the book that has his name on it.

Seriously, there is nothing wrong with the name Mormon. It represents, however, a bastardized version of the Restored Gospel is the problem. In his name, Mormon's name, there is a cultural movement. There are books and sayings that suggest you might be Mormon if you... (add what you will.)

Calling myself anything other than a Saint in Christ's Church minimizes what that means. If I want to call myself by another man's name when I made a covenant in Jesus's name, I am going a whoring as Isaiah said of the ancient covenant people.

Paul said it all when he said that "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ" Romans 1:16. Paul is a supporter of the name of Christ and the use of it in referring to Christ's people.

Mormon is an ancient prophet/apostle who testifies of the resurrected Jesus Christ. THAT IS ALL.

During the October 2018 General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Prophet said:

Thus, the name of the Church is not negotiable. When the Savior clearly states what the name of His Church should be and even precedes His declaration with, “Thus shall my church be called,” He is serious. And if we allow nicknames to be used or adopt or even sponsor those nicknames ourselves, He is offended.Satan has had a field-day for the last two centuries trying to distract people away from the real message of the Restored Gospel by obscuring the meaning of it by the name of that good man. The Correct Name of the Church

Satan has had a field-day for the last two centuries trying to distract people away from the real message of the Restored Gospel by obscuring the meaning of it by the name of that good man, Mormon.

Jesus said the reason why is:

Verily I say unto you all: arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations; And that the gathering together upon the land of Zion, and upon her stakes, may be for a defense, and for a refuge from the storm, and from wrath when it shall be poured out without mixture upon the whole earth. Doctrine & Covenants 115:4-6

That is good enough for me and it is Jesus's voice speaking directly to a modern prophet, Joseph Smith, regarding this latter-day.

Again during the General Conference for the Church, President Nelson taught,

What’s in a name or, in this case, a nickname? When it comes to nicknames of the Church, such as the “LDS Church,” the “Mormon Church,” or the “Church of the Latter-day Saints,” the most important thing in those names is the absence of the Savior’s name. To remove the Lord’s name from the Lord’s Church is a major victory for Satan. When we discard the Savior’s name, we are subtly disregarding all that Jesus Christ did for us—even His Atonement. (The Xorrect Name of the Church).

Who but Satan and his machinations would want to take the Christ out of His church? The Saints belong to Christ, not the LDS, Mormon, The Church of the Latter-day Sants or any other substitution.

Snake! LDS are trying to shed their Mormon name like a skin!

No matter how we package it, that is what it looks like. We are trying to get away from being called by the name of a man when it is not the church of that man. In the book of Third Nephi in the Book of Mormon, Jesus Christ answers the prayers of his disciples in ancient America when there was contention about what to call the church. The disciples prayed about it, and Jesus responded to their prayer with this:

And how be it my church save it be called in my name? For if a church be called in Moses’ name then it be Moses’ church; or if it be called in the name of a man then it be the church of a man; but if it be called in my name then it is my church, if it so be that they are built upon my gospel. 3Nephi 27:8

All I have to do is replace the name Moses with Mormon, and that is what we have going on today. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not Mormon's church. It is Jesus's church. It has been from the beginning.

Wanting to have us called by the person whom we worship is not trying to deny who we are. We are finally admitting to the world emphatically who we are. We are Christ's chosen people. We have been hiding behind Mormon's name long enough.

Why not set straight the Past?

As much as the past matters, the present matters most. If we as saints of Christ cannot get our minds wrapped around the fact that we are, in fact, the saints of Christ, then how can we clear up what happened in the past.

The reasons we have stumbled so much is because we were too busy hiding behind the name of a man so that the implication of our position as Christ people did not convict us more of our need to do His will in helping the poor, healing the sick, raising the dead, and showing forth wonders where we go.

This is the time to step up and show that we are truly a people of wonders in the name of Jesus Christ and not just another denomination of Christianity trying to fit into the box of platitudes. Our future is riding on admitting who we are so that we can repent and move on from what we have been. It means we cannot hide that we claim to be the only true and living church on the face of the earth with which the Lord is pleased.
