The Dragon Rider: A Poem

Empty to fill; fill full of empty. –Ray Grigg

You are the rider;

I am your dragon.

At my birth

As my eyes opened

You, I saw first

So that you then

By destiny became

My dragon rider

I followed you

No matter where you went

I could not live without you

I grew with you

Taking me everywhere you went

Showing me

Everything you saw

You grew with me

All the lessons from the places

And the people loving us

Or refusing to love us.

You grew with you

Learning a most important lesson

Loving you and I.

The past way was the best way

You could know of

From what to you was taught

By others while you grew

Now with your adult dragon

It’s time

For you to be

Your teacher

To choose what’s best

For you and me.

You know my strengths

My crankiness forgiven

I know your strengths

Demandingness accepted

We will journey

With your eyes closed

Mine swirling

Into the beyond

Beyond space and time

Where dreams are born

And then come back

Believing wish is done

Coming back, indeed

A few seconds, a few years later

Dreams are deeds done.

On your pants you peed

That was your first ride

To the beyond,

As Anne McCaffrey said

Now no more afraid

Of the beyond

It is the black hole

Unconsciousness, where all is one

Your soul.

Your soul, your passion

Your shining star

To dreams fulfilled

If you can ride

Dragon-back everyday

On me to the beyond

It is my privilege, Master

Any time, any where

Your wish is my command.

I am your mind.

“Jung equates the unconscious with the soul, and so when we try to live fully consciously in an intellectually predictable world, protected from all mysteries and comfortable with conformity, we lose our everyday opportunities for the soulful life. The intellect wants to know; the soul likes to be surprised. …” –Thomas Moore

Thanks for the heart-warming words, tlmcgaa70! I can imagine what beautiful words and topics you yourself present on your hubs. Let me hub-hop over to your pages.

Nice to meet another dragonrider fan. Am looking forward to the day I lay my eyes on another rider book.
