Continuing To Walk With Christ

Updated on January 1, 2011

The End of 2010

As the year is coming to an end I find myself looking back and going over all that has happened this year. I find that this year has probably been one of the best years in so many ways - when you measure happiness you usually weigh out the differences between the good and the bad and when the good exceedingly outweighs the bad then you know it was good. I have met so many new and wonderful people in my life this year that I am so grateful for. I found Christ as my savior and my life has become new and exciting. I feel so blessed in my life and I never want to lose that. Every day I walk in His grace and I know that I am safe because the Lord is always with me. “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.” Psalm 56:3 I cannot imagine a life without Christ. God and the Holy Spirit - it is so fulfilling to know each day He is with you, helping you, and loving you, holding you up along the way. I pray for everyone to feel God's love around them, it is so powerful and peaceful.

Christ is My Hiding Place

Songs speak to me in so many ways as they represent meaning through the lyrics. A song that we sang in church this past Sunday has been on my mind all week and it brings me to bow down in prayer for the Lord as He has made so many changes in my life all for the better. He saved me and led me to the path that I so willingly followed to be with Him because of His love for me. I may have lost some friends/family along my journey with Christ but in all actuality I have gained twice as many that are more like family than all the others who have left me. I look at the end of this year as a new beginning to next year, to be with Christ everyday as He is my hiding place <3.

My Hiding Place - Sovereign Grace Ministries

Father of love, who planned the way
To rescue me, who’d gone astray
Sending Your Son, forever blessed
To live my life and die my death
For me who’d raised my angry fist
For me whose life is like a mist
I broke Your law, You gave me grace
Jesus became my hiding place

Blinded by sin, I hated light
I loved the dark, my soul was night
I ran toward hell at frightening pace
So smug without a hiding place
I fled from You, but You decreed
And almighty love arrested me
You broke my heart, drove me to grace
Jesus became my hiding place

How I recall awakened fear
My guilt would not let me draw near
I looked to law, but found no friend
No hiding place, I stood condemned
But then I looked upon a tree
There Jesus hung instead of me
My heavy load gave way to praise
Jesus became my hiding place

Though thunder roll and lightning crash
They cannot move me from your grasp
Though outwardly I waste away
I rest in You, my hiding place
Though mountains fall into the sea
You will not loose Your grip on me
Until the day I see the face
Of Jesus Christ, my hiding place

What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying?" Matthew 18:12

Raised with Christ

“You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah” Psalm 32:7 This song to me represents where I was, who I was, and who I have become. “if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind” Ephesians 4:21-23. The old desires which were corrupt I have put away; the new attitudes in my mind which are "created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness" have been put on. These things did not automatically happen at my salvation, but are something that I worked on with my own will.  It is a work within yourselves that never ends as love can only grow stronger and stronger with the Lord.

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3 We all have a tendency to seek matters according to ourselves, but we need to focus on spiritual matters because all earthly things are no longer when we have renewed our minds to revelation knowledge from God, to fill our minds with what God says in His word, so that His word DWELLS within us. Unless we renew our minds we cannot enjoy a relationship with God. God says that we are blessed with all, supplied with all, sanctified, and redeemed. It is not how often you have gone through the word that counts, but how often the word has gone through you. Renewing our mind is the replacement of our old values with new, the revealing of God’s word within us.

New Year's Resolution

My New Year’s resolution is to become closer to God each day that He brings new, to pray always and share my burdens with. To ask for help in times of need instead of trying to handle things by myself as He never leaves anyone alone. To learn through God to be more humble as I walk in His light, and to have longsuffering to everyone, even enemies. To go out and help the lost, to build greater faith in believers, to help edify the body of Christ, and to bring light to those around me. To grow, to love, and to live in Christ as God has intended for me to do so.

I ask you today, what are you going to do in the New Year to reflect the love that God has given you?  He is with you always.
