The Greatest Love Ever Known
What is the greatest love humanity has ever known? God's ultimate and intimate love for us couldn't ever be measured.
What is the greatest display of love one could ever do for another? Sacrifice or lay down your life for someone else to live. That is the answer. For love is thinking and acting for the betterment of someone else and not thinking or acting for yourself. How many people would sacrifice their own child to save someone else’s life? I can tell you in full faith that nobody would ever dare think of such a thing. But, God did with His son Jesus Christ.
John 3:16 (KJV): “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Jesus deeply loved His disciples and all of us, as well. God knew that the only way that there could ever be salvation was to send His only begotten son like a lamb to the slaughter. There isn’t a person on Earth from the past, present, or even in the future that could even come close to that kind of love. But, that’s why God is our heavenly father and Jesus Christ is our savior.
John 15:13 (KJV): “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
John 10:18 (KJV): “No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.”
Jesus knew that He had to make the sacrifice for all sins. And He knew that with each passing day the moment was drawing closer. Was He worried and stressed out about it? Yes! But, His love for humanity motivated Him and God’s divine power gave Him strength to accomplish what no other man could ever do. Save the world.
At first, Jesus was wanting the heaviness of the world’s sins from being placed upon Him. Just remember, Jesus was human. The sheer stress of what was taking place was so much more the what He or any man could ever bear. It was only by the hand of God, through one of His angels, gave Jesus strength to carry on with the task that God has called Him to do.
Matthew 22:41-44 (KJV): 41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
It was after all, prophesied that Jesus Christ would be beaten and then die for our sins.
Isaiah 53:4-5 (KJV): “4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:14 (KJV): “As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his
Jesus was beaten badly and so much that He almost died before carrying the cross. The many who looked upon Him were astonished, not only of His many wounds, but, also of His strength to carry his own cross to His certain death. A man named Simon helped Jesus to carry the cross the rest of the way through the streets of Jerusalem after when Jesus fell a few times from being weakened by His wounds and the heavy weight of the cross. And then to the final stop, the place of crucifixion, Mount Golgotha. Simon and Jesus were yoke fellows for only a short time. The memory of this moment must have lasted the entirety of Simon’s lifetime.
It was not the Romans who crucified Him. It was not the Jews who denied Him life. The is no blame for any group. God’s will, will be done, no matter what. It was only our iniquities that beat the stripes on Him. It was only our sin that needed cleansed by the blood of a sacrificial lamb, known only as Jesus Christ.
For God to give His only begotten son to die for our sins. And for Jesus Christ to willingly lay down His life to be the sacrifice. For this truly is the greatest love ever known.
For those who don’t know Jesus Christ. Call upon His name and be saved.
Please say this prayer:
“Father God,
I know that I’m a sinner. I believe that you love me. And I believe that you sent your son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for my sins and arose from the dead on the third day. I ask that Jesus come into my heart and forgive me of my sins. Please send your Holy Spirit to guide me throughout my life. I thank you Jesus Christ for forgiving me of my sins. And I thank you for setting me free this day, that I am born again. In Jesus Christ name. Amen.”
