The Luke Warm Church

Updated on January 29, 2015

Jerry started in the trucking industry in 1978 and has spent most of his life on the open road as a Trucker Evangelist and Christian Author.

Picture a world where nothing is wrong and man has become hardened to God and sin is looked at as a bad habit.

Such is the Laodicean church standing up in the book of Revelation who claim to be rich, but are they?

This video shows a young man and what his life was like before conversion.

Which Class Are You In

We find people in this church who have a saving knowledge of God but are too attached to the cares of this world and are afraid to let go.

They have been deceived into thinking that they have found the perfect balance and have the best of both worlds.

These people are lax on moral codes and have reasoned themselves into stating that God is not governing or judging his creation and that there will not be a reward for obedience or punishment for sin.

This church has been turned over to her pleasures.

This church is taking it easy with their casual approach to life.

They have appointed themselves to subdue the world instead of being a light to it.

How can they be a light with all their hidden heresies?

They are confident in their own strength and wisdom.

How can we identify this church and are we apart of this world church system?

This system has ruined many men and women of God by their compromising ways.

This church tries to rationalize or justify and explain away their behavior but the Lord says they will be spewed out of his mouth.

They are not bothered that others are in misery.

They attend service to be entertained and leave more entertained than elevated. The bottom line is some want a weekend experience that does not cost them anything.

Some of these people can quote scripture, but it does not make a difference in their life style.

They want a neat religion that they can control and they do not want the kind of preaching that comes forth to break up the fallow ground and the creases of sin that revival may break forth.

Some leaders in this church are involved in power and politics trying to build their own kingdom.

This church has no desire for bible study and someone coming to Christ is an embarrassing moment for them and if someone would shout a-men, it would be like being in a library.

Their life evolves around money and no one had better come near it or they will feel their wrath.

They sit in service but their mind is on other things. They have no blessed assurance for they have lost their joy.

The Consequences of Backsliding

Conclusion

My writings are not to pass judgment nor will I engage in an argument here or anywhere else.

I am just a watchman trying to help someone find their way and get some hope in a seemingly hopeless world.

John writes the Letter to the seven churches The faithful and true witness.. You are neither hot or cold you are lukewarm . I spit you out of my mouth. Your riches are nothing.

These seven churches would be represented in the church down through the epics of time.

Laodicean means conditional is lukewarm and a people are judged.

"I caught a glimpse of Glory and I am longing to be there."

The Midnight Hour

Was this hub a wake up call to how far the church has moved away from the condition and power it was born in?

Some of the messages we get from the church leaders are misleading, they give us the impression how lukewarm the church is due to bad leadership. They are obsessed with power and material possessions. They interpret scriptures to suit their own desires, which is very wrong. The church should not lose its passion, the passion of doing the work of God and saving souls. We should ask ourselves what personal relationship we have with God. Are we reviving our lives spiritually so us we return to the Lord? Let us face the reality about our spiritual needs, let us not be misled by our own ways of being lukewarm. By returning to the Lord, there is hope for Laodicea and Laodicea could be you or me.

Morning Deb... for many people today they have a false sense of well being when they leave a church after a service. Far to many churches are teaching only the warm fuzzy stuff about what it really means to be a Christian. Religion is something man has created, what I mean is it is all about a personal relationship with Jesus and has nothing to do with a massive impressive building or creating a complete entertainment scene in worship. This all costs and the tithe people pay could be better used to help others rather than feed the machine.

I think a good example is a mega church was built a few years ago in a city close by. It has turned commercial in many ways with a Starbucks, McDonalds and a massive book store that remains open for the duration of when sales are optimum. To me it looks very similar to the temple Jesus disrupted. What a shame our faith has turned commercial as well.

Give me nature, a Bible and some quiet time with God and His creation... it is all I need, no trappings just reality.

      Hugs and Blessings

I don't appreciate the lifestyle that some "pastors" adopt of extravagance and being all about money. It seems they are acting like rock stars and it is a real turn off. I don't see how any of that behavior helps others. It makes them seem like big fakes. Why not be real with the people? No one is perfect but we can help each other.

I like the way Gail that you spoke of putting God in a box. 5 also like the way you got straight to the point. My hub is about awakening the church to the reality that we are not here to stay and this lifestyle of self ambition and being self-centered is not the way to win a soul to a better way of life.

We do not want anything to interrupt our fast paced life and we can see that in all the church doors that are closed for evening service. It seems that I have more friends that have done went on to meet their reward than I have here. All I can say is Gail, God help us to wake up to God and eternity.

Thanks for your comment and it is well noted. I feel that we are on a downward spiral to judgement if we do not wake up and repent.

THIS IS A GODLY WAY TO EXPLAIN THE LAST DAY CHURCH. YOU CANT PUT GOD IN A BOX AND PULL HIM OUT WHEN YOU GOT A NEED. GOD NOT A JACK IN A BOX. YOU NEED GOD ALL THE TIME.WHEN THE WORLD SAYS BOW WILL YOU BE SO WEAK YOU WILL BOW?NOTHING WE OWN IS OURS TO KEEP. SO DONT HOLD ON TO YOUR BLESSING SO TIGHT IT SLIPS OUT OF YOUR HAND FROM THE WORLDLY SWEAT OF WORRY. AMEN.
