The Love Of A Christian

Updated on March 6, 2010

How will they know us? By Our Love

I have been online for about 8 years. Jesus is my joy ministries has been out here about 6 years. I have come across love, hate and so much more. I have gotten nasty letters from others that claim to be in Christ. Well lets look at what Jesus did and how he loved us..

How will they know(unbelievers)if we are Christian's? By our love for each other..If all Christian's can do is put each other down and be mean and nasty to each other how are the unbelievers of the world going to know Jesus or have a relationship with him?

Sometimes I think I'll take all my contacts out of my address book except maybe 20 because I get nasty replies from those who claim to be christian or claim to be prayer warriors..what would Jesus think of our behavior?

Jesus loved us because he saw the way we need him, and he saw that we can do nothing down here without him, and all our words we throw at others really matter, words can kill out hearts and break us down..let's see how Jesus handled loving others the way we are suppose to.

John 14:23

Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

Jesus says above if anyone loves me he will obey me, that means also to love others the way Christ loved us and loves us.

Galatians 5:6

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

Love is a big word in the Bible, we are to express our love through faith because Jesus loves us and faith is given to all who ask for it, God will give us a measure of it as we ask.

Romans 12:3

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.

I think that some christian's may think highly of themselves..just remember you and I are what we are today, because of Christ..and only because of Him..in His love

Great Hub! This came up in my church a few months ago. Our pastor told us to go out into the community and help others in the name of God. There are so many hypocrite Christians out there who give the rest of us a bad name. Doing nice things for others in His name reminds them that we are loving, and that God Loves! Great hub, I really enjoyed it!

      God Bless,

      ~ Laura

Well I'm here on this one anyway Betty, So very true about LOVE, how can they tell if we have love in us, if we hide from telling the truth.

We are to be UP FRONT with the TRUTH, Jesus never went around hiding,he was up front with his teachings, and people could see that he had love for them.

And the more who stand firm are the one's to show others GOD'S LOVE.

      Love ya

Betty, this is the first hub I have read by you. It's a very sad but true hub about people who put themselves above others and criticize, judge rather than love and come beside. May God bless you dear one.. I like your name .. jesusmyjoy - it says alot about who you are! Blessings

Hi Betty...blessed to see you are back and standing your ground. If we have so much as a small crack in the armour the enemy makes it in and he can come in all forms. We are warned of this so often throughout Scripture.

As we grow so does our discernment and as always what is done in the darkness will be brought to light.

      Great Hub...

      Blessings

JesusmyJoy, What you have shared is sad but true! Some Christians can be quite brutal... There are those that no matter how much you do, or try to help them, they will misconstrue your sincere intentions. They can often also become very vindictive! This is when you must turn to the Lord. “Pray for those who despitefully use you!” And yes, keep some distance from them...

God really does see everything! The Lord has given us the “shield of FAITH” to protect us from “All the fiery darts…” It is at these times when you reach out and someone tries to tear you down or undermine your integrity you can identify with Jesus! They called Him some of everything yet, Jesus Never sinned or did anything wrong and He was treated terribly! "all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God!" We must seek to get "Better instead of bitter!" It is not always easy but one must learn to guard your heart! Just know “JESUS TRULY IS YOU JOY!” May the Peace of the Lord be with you! In His love & Blessings

Jesusmyjoy, tears but last for a night but JOY comes in the morning! Yes, there are always going to be those that call themselves Christian but live by their own rules and life. They have their end already. I agree with UG, "blow them off" God will deal with them. They are throwing their darts at Him...and will have to answer for it one day. Bless you for standing strong IN His grace. You are a blessing.

      Jesusmyjoy,

Jesus said, if the world hates me, it will hate you too. Be strong, and continue on in the work of the ministry, for the very ones who talk you down and mistreat you now, will one day come to you for prayer and to be lead to Christ.

      God Bless

jesusmyjoy, what you have outlined is a sad and unfortunate fact.

Let us encourage one another in His name and go on and minister to suffering humanity.

Thank you for sharing. Love and peace.

Betty, there's a song out there called,"Does He still feel the nails everytime we fail?" He does. The sad part is so many who call themselves Christians seem to delight in bringing back that pain continually.

      Betty,

I've already done some serious pruning of my email list. Funny thing is, those who didn't make the cut were all alleged "Christians" and ones who seem to think they've been given the "Gift of Judgement". Well, it is what it is, right? I just blow 'em off.

In reality, just "Be the Message." Preachers, frankly, are a dime a dozen when you look at someone who really lives the life. There are those who are absolutely serious in the pulpit and then I see them running down homeless people and discouraging "street people" from attending their church. Funny, last time I looked it was God's House.

      Thanks for another great Hub!!

When the community of believers reaches out to an unbelieving world, embracing them with love, we show the world how Jesus saved us and can save them, too :) Well done.
