The Manifold Wisdom OF God

The Manifold Wisdom Of God

Faith to raise the dead

We read in Ephesians chapter two about the Manifold Wisdom of God.

The word manifold wisdom means many and varied.I don’t really hear a lot of preachers preaching on the manifold wisdom of God, and yet maybe there is something that we are missing?

When you think of the word manifold in connection with God you arrive at something like this. There are many and varied aspects of God and yet without one of the many and varied aspects of God we cease to have God.

Let's take a moment and look at Ephesians 3:10, and while we are doing that, let's look at it in more than one translation.

New International Version His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms,

New Living Translation God's purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.

From this verse we can see that God wanted to display his multi faceted greatness through the church to all unseen rulers and authorities in heavenly places.

The exciting thing was that he is going to use the church to do that. Amen, that is you and me. And the multi-faceted greatness of God is going to flow through those who believe. This is done as we take our God given authority.

Once we begin to act upon the word of God as a believer all of the multi-faceted power of God begins flowing through us and the demons will tremble and scream. All day long God’s people desire more of God. God’s people want to walk in the power of God and have the life of God flow through us.

But I don’t see us seeking God from the standpoint that he is multi-faceted and so our search for him must also be multi-faceted. Let me give you an example, Hebrews 11 says that faith is the substance of things hoped for the reality of things unseen. I see and hear all day long God’s people asking for more faith.

Seeking God for faith is one dimensional, and while I see this happening all the time I also see a lot of disconnecting going on. In many cases faith does not rise as people pursue faith but rather as time passes and faith does not increase I see God’s people becoming frustrated, with still no answers to prayer.

Now the word says that faith is the substance of things hoped for. This tells me that without hope there can be no faith, now we are starting to get multi-faceted. The definition of the word hope is “a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.” Hope also has a feeling of trust. From this we can see that hope is alive, it has a desire and a longing to see something, and it is trusting in someone or something to bring the desire thing to come to pass.

The word faith is complete confidence, or trust in a person or thing; faith is a belief not based upon proof. In Hebrews 10:35 we are told not to cast aside our confidence.

New Living Translation So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you!

English Standard Version Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.Confidence, is an important ingredient in getting our prayer answered. Now hope faith and confidence are all closely related and yet I never hear of people teaching or preaching on the multi-faceted aspects coming together for the purpose of getting our prayers answered. In spite of the lack of this teaching God has given us a clue about the importance of multi-faceted qualities all relating together for the purpose of accomplishing a goal or mission in the kingdom.

Let's take a look at 1st Corinthians 13:13 and we will see the principle that I am making reference to.

New Living Translation Three things will last forever--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love.

English Standard Version So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Berean Study Bible And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love. Galatians 5:6 is another scripture that talks about the multi-faceted qualities being put together for the purpose of advancing the kingdom of God. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.

Berean Study Bible For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. All that matters is faith, expressed through love.

Berean Literal Bible For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any power, but only faith working through love.

New American Standard Bible For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.

So even though Hebrews tells us without faith it is impossible to please God, faith will not work without love. And if there is no hope then faith has nothing to take a hold of. And if we are not confident than we cannot trust and if we cannot trust then our gas tank is empty and we have no place to go.

For those of us who want the power of God in our lives perhaps we need to expand the areas of our search. A person can not have a complete meal with only meat. However with the proper balance of many ingredients one can enjoy a beautiful meal that will linger on the taste buds for a very long time.

As we pursue the things of God let us understand that there are indeed many aspects to the faith that pleases God. Below is a list of things we should be looking at if we want the mountains to move when we pray.

  • Faith
  • Trust
  • Love
  • Hope
  • Confidence
  • We must Believe
  • Obedience
  • Good Works

The Bible says the we overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony and that we love not our life unto the death. Revelation 12:11 In order to have true faith that pleases God we must understand that we are in a relationship with him, and that he has loved us since the foundations of the world.

Faith Actualizes what it realizes, but if there is no revelation than there will be no realization, and if there is not realization then there can be no activation. All of this happens as we experience God in a real relationship that springs from both sonship and love.

He views us as a house fit for a king. The thing that empowers us to walk as he walked is to understand that He loved us, and it is his great love for us that we have tasted and experienced is what has moved us to love and seek him.

That is why love never fails, for God is love and he cannot fail and he has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Romans 5:5. Truly our ability to believe, and obey and to do all of the other things that we will do comes from our understanding and experiencing his great love for us, and that we were created to be love even as he is love.
