The Mind of Christ
The Natural Mind is Emnity with God
We have the Mind of Christ.
Philippians 2:5-8, Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who although He existed in the form of God did not regard equality with God, a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself taking the form of a bond servant and being made in the likeness of men, and being found in appearance of man, He humbled (emptied) Himself by becoming obedient, to the point of death, even death on the cross.
It is imperative to understand that it was always the intention of God to worship God, therefore the scriptures says that the Father is seeking true worshipers those that will worship Him in Spirit Truth. This comes from the understanding that we are sons of God by the very nature of our identity and the answered prayers of Jesus Christ in John 17, “Father make them one as we are One” is key to this understanding, it is even more critical to understand that the Trinity lives to serve each other. The Godhead never extends requirements for the Household that they themselves are not already practising, there is no competition among them, neither is there any hierarchy. Now the way we speak is indicative of how we think, the question then remains, how should the sons of God think?
Let’s start by understanding that we have to put to death our souls, which has emotions, will and an intellect and overcome the worldto then take on the mind of Christ. This spiritual mind also has emotions, which is worship, and a will, which is to do the Fathers will and intellect which is wisdom (Seven Spirits of God). So the spirit has a mind too, it called the Mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:11-16, For who among you know the thoughts of a man except the spirit of a man, which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God, no one knows except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit who is from God, that we might know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them because they are spiritually appraised (discerned). But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no man. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.
Philippians 1:27, Only conduct yourself worthy in the manner of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm, in one spirit, with one mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel. So it seems that there is something called the Gospel of Christ which Paul was driving home to the Philippians. What did this gospel consist of largely? Philippians 1:29-30 For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, experiencing the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear to be in me.
READ: Philippians 2:1-4, precedes the first text that we read which Philippians 2 vs.5. Selfishness is the number one indicator that you do not have the mind of Christ. The entire passage of Philippians 2:6-8, deals with the humiliation of Christ for the purpose of dying. It is brought forth as an illustration of humility. This humility is expressed in the thoughtfulness of others. And then comes the illustration of how Christ humbled Himself and in His death He thought of nothing else but others. Although He was God incarnate and He could avoid death, He did not do it for the sake of man. He allowed Himself to die in His manhood. The word “existed” shows continuation from His life in the eternal, he did not consider being equal with God has something to be forcibly grasped from God. His essence of Deity was not something He took at anytime but that it was something that he always had and never lost. He emptied Himself voluntarily. John 17:5 provides the meaning of the very words of Christ Himself. “And now glorify Me together with Thyself Father, with the glory which I had with Thee before the world”.
If we had to read the literal translation of Philippians 2.6–8, it should read like this. Who (Jesus Christ) being having always been in the form of God. He did not think it robbery to be equal to God, but Himself, He emptied, when He took the form of a servant, when He became in the likeness of a man and when He found Himself in the shape of a man. He humbled Himself when He became obedient until death, the death of the cross.
Ephesians 2:1-6, ...and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in heavenly places, in Christ Jesus. What has been raised up? Your renewed spirit mind is seated with Christ in Heavenly places. To have the mind of Christ you too must leave your heavenly position, and in humility and servant hood you must put to death your soul and overcome the world too. When you decide to leave or have settle on this issue, then the Father sends you to the world. But you must also display practical servant hood and death to self by how your serve your brothers and mankind.
Then the mindset of Christ can be summed up in the following way. It is an identity that you are a son of God, sent from the Father to put on display the nature and the character of the Father to the world and whom God the Father sends your way by the Holy Spirit, you have oneness with the Father, spirit to spirit. You live to serve the Will of the Father; Jesus said the son of man did not come to be served but to serve. Now you have also emptied yourself of charismatic spiritual pride, your soul that wants to run the show and you have put to death and have overcome the world by not building your life on the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, you are now poor in spirit and the Bible says, Blessed are the poor in spirit for there’s is the Kingdom of Heaven. You are now in the Kingdom and Kingdom is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.
At this stage in your life you are not concerned with the cares of this world, you are being led by the Holy Spirit moment by moment day by day. You are not living this life but Christ is living it through you. You have spiritual authority and power that attends this mind of Christ. Michael and his host attend to your commands. Your prayers are not about providence and protection, they are decrees that are uttered by the Spirit to activate Kingdom agenda. You rule and have dominion as a King and Priest, you are a son of God, Jesus Christ is your brother, and the Holy Spirit of Truth is your connection to the Family or the Household of God. In the Kingdom there is only Father and sons.
John 14: 16-18, And I will ask the Father and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever, that is the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be with you. I will not leave you has orphans; I will come to you.
Lamentation 5, This is the cry of a son that has lost his identity. We have lost the mind of Christ. When Adam fell he lost his identity, he lost his father and he lost his spiritual Christ mind and became an orphan, living by his soul governed by the world. When you are a son, you have the mind of Christ, you and the Father are one and you live in the Kingdom.
