The Path Least Traveled
The barbed-wire fence loomed before me. Curiosity was emitting from my pores. This land held many treasures if knowing where to look. skirmishes had happened all over this area. I have always been an antique/old stuff collector and dealer. Civil war
I strolled down the path entering the dense trees that made a part of the Ozarks.A small and lively fawn bounced through the trees after smelling my scent. She was headed straight for her mother, the large grayish doe I spotted standing at the bottom of the hill. I smiled at the beauty of nature.
As the trees grew closer together the path suddenly became a confused mess. There were five paths splitting off the one. A decision must be made. I looked at the five and immediately chose the second one from the left. Why? Because it was the path least traveled. The weeds had overtaken it and you could tell no one had been down that path for a long time. In front of me was a stick that looked perfect to help my go through the tick infested woods. I hacked through the weeds and found clear spots and then more weeds. After traveling down one hill and up another. On the way down, in front of me was an old dump. Staring at me was a 1937 Pontiac. I had found Heaven!
I gathered all my pockets and hands could hold. Old soda bottles, depression glassware that wasn't broken, and then I looked in the glove-box of that Pontiac and found a coin purse that was dry-rotted and some coins fell into my hands. Silver quarters and an old Indian head penny were in it.
All by traveling that path least traveled, I found treasures.
I have found another seldom traveled path too! I will tell you about it.
Didn't Die For Nothing
He could have been the top Pharisee. He could have ruled Jerusalem and even taken rule over the whole world.
He traveled the lonely, least traveled road. Before He did, He asked those of us who understand to do the same. His road started in Bethlehem and ended at Golgotha, but really never ended. What did end though was the bondage of sin for each of us. An open invitation to be with Him in a glorious eternity. His free gift to us when He gave Himself as a sacrifice for the sins of all human beings.
Why do people still choose the other paths?
The world says to take care of you and yours and the rest can worry about themselves. We all, at one time or another, have been caught in that trap. We worry about safety, thinking we actually have control. I, like many of the disciples, want to do what God wants, not what people want. I would count it an honor to be put to death in a fashion of one of our patriarchs for following Jesus.
My life is by no means perfect, but I long to be just like Jesus. By studying His Word daily and by prayer and fasting, I know that the Holy Spirit will guide my path and give me the faith to do whatever and wherever God is leading me.
I am going to follow the path least traveled.
I will go unto those who need me and who are hungry for more of Him. In helping to feed, I will be fed. In stepping out in faith, no evil can befall me. At all times, I will be in my Savior's loving care. He will charge the Angels to protect and defend.
Many would say, "doesn't your family come first?" To which I will tell them by my family and friends seeing my faith and blessings will come to believe and will give their hearts to Jesus.
Is God calling you? Are you hiding in what you consider a "comfort zone?" For some that "comfort zone" won't be very comfortable in eternity. It's easy to say you are a Christian, or you believe. Heck, even Satan believes.
The Holy Spirit has been at work in my life. God has put a blessing in my life. Her name is Maria and God has His mighty hand on her. He has brought us together in a very special way, so that the two of us can do His will. I am being led down a very seldom traveled path. Many will not understand and will speak negative. Some will understand and will be blessed in so-doing. To do God's will is much more important to this frog than to my own or someone elses will.
So tell me could or would you?
God Wants You Too!
When we were born, God gave us missions. A few will obey, some will just go part of the way and many will ignore.
Do you even know?
Do you even wonder?
God will show you; read His Word, pray and ask Him. He will show you.
