The Perversion of Self

Updated on November 1, 2015

The Perversion of Self

People are not born to be evil, but they may have a strong tendency to do evil things. They may be tempted to do so by outside influences. Of course, this normally remains a choice for each individual. However, if left unchecked, people are likely to pursue a lifestyle that is detrimental to themselves and others.

For example, many people get caught up in sexual perversion, or gluttony, or greed, etc. Some even become psychotic and harm others. Often we hear news reports about someone who goes on a killing spree.

Unfortunately, the world is becoming an increasingly evil place to live. That makes it more difficult for people to live the right way. What is the enemy that is causing this problem? Many people feel that their needs or desires are more important than those of others and act accordingly. That causes problems for those who want to make things right in the world.

In a perfect world, people would be honest and fair, and they would not want to harm others to satisfy themselves. They would live their lives in balance so that the needs and desires of all would be equally met. But we are not perfect, and many tend to be selfish and place their agenda above that of others.

Many people believe that satisfying oneself is the main purpose of life. They may believe the perversion of self is necessary to achieve that purpose. If so, then they are more likely to give in to the temptation of doing wrong.

People are often misguided and tempted by evil influences; does that not make them responsible when they choose to pervert themselves? People normally have the ability to make their own choices; that means they are usually accountable for their choices. Still, many blame their environment or others such as their parents, their siblings, their friends, or society in general for their bad choices.

A major problem is that perverted behavior is becoming more commonplace in the world. Many who are perverted have lost their sense of moral values, and are just on the edge of becoming criminals. Many of them will most likely turn to crime to satisfy their desires. A person who is immoral can often be easily tempted to commit a crime. And now, unfortunately, moral values are on the decline and crime in the world is increasing. Is there any way to "fix" this situation?

There is an intensifying conflict in the world between good and evil. Many people have warped ideas concerning our existence and what is right and wrong. So is it possible to make things right in the world? People have different suggestions they believe would make things right. Many believe that science and technology will eventually solve our problems. Others believe that having enough material wealth is the answer. Still others believe that religion has the answers.

The insurmountable problem is that people are imperfect and continue to pervert themselves. Therefore, the sad truth is that they cannot come up with a good solution for the problems that stem from immorality in the world. Therefore, crime, and war, and the killing of innocent people cannot be stopped.

Although the situation in the world seems hopeless, many have found hope in their religious beliefs. Most of them believe that God, who created human beings, has made a way for us to overcome the world, and find true happiness.

Many try to discourage belief in God by promoting Atheism. This belief, however, lacks any reasonable explanation for the creation of life. If God does not exist, then how were human beings created? Again, Atheism does not provide a reasonable answer. Neither does it provide a solution for the negative effects of perversion.

Some people believe in God, but they blame Him when things go wrong. Although God created humans, He created them with free will and the ability to make their own choices. Unfortunately, many people have perverted themselves and become immoral; then they often make bad choices that cause things in their lives to go wrong.

Can people stop perverting themselves and do what is right? They definitely need help to get themselves into a normal lifestyle and live the right way. Can science and technology help? Many scientists have good ideas and have helped make remarkable progress in the quality of life. But they are imperfect and cannot solve the problem of immorality.

If people had enough money, would that help them to become perfect and avoid becoming perverted? No, because money can only improve the quality of our material life. It cannot change the way we think and act.

Many people realize that life is more than materialism and worldly pleasure and not just about satisfying oneself. They pursue avenues of improvement for themselves including a healthy diet, exercise, such as aerobics or yoga, and meditation.

Some people get involved in some type of religion for spiritual improvement and guidance. They do this because they are searching for the truth about life. They realize that perversion of self is wrong and that the truth could set one free from perversion. And if they know the truth, they could better decide the path they want to take in life.

The Bible contains the truth. God inspired certain men to write the Bible, which is God's Word. In the Bible it is written about the creation of the world and human beings. And about God's moral laws for us to live by. Because God created us with free will, He knows that some might choose to break those laws that were meant to be good for us.

When people break moral laws, they must suffer the consequences of their actions. The world today is in an increasingly chaotic state caused by those who break God's laws and pervert themselves.

The world is headed for destruction, but the Bible reveals God's plan to save us from that impending disaster. The Bible tells about the life and death of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Jesus was born as a human being and did not sin during His lifetime. He spent His life teaching the truth about the way we should live. He fed the hungry, healed the sick, and performed many miracles.

Jesus died for our sins; then after three days He was resurrected and returned to Heaven. If you believe in Him as your savior, He will help you to live the right way. He can help you to be free of perversion, live the right way, and be saved from destruction. Then someday you will live eternally in peace and happiness.

In Summary, people have a natural tendency to do evil things. They are often tempted to do so and sometimes get caught up in different types of perversion. Because of that, the world is becoming increasingly evil, making it more difficult for those who want to live the right way. Perversion can also cause people to become selfish, which causes problems for people who want to make things right in the world.

In a perfect world people would not want to harm others, but we are far from perfect. Many people are selfish, believing that satisfying oneself is the main purpose in life. When they believe perversion of self may be necessary to achieve that purpose, then they are likely to do wrong.

People are tempted to do wrong, but does that not make them responsible when they pervert themselves? Although they are usually accountable for their choices, people often blame others or their environment for their bad choices.

Perverted behavior is becoming rampant, and many who are perverted are losing their sense of moral values. An immoral person is more likely to commit a crime and, because moral values are on the decline, crime in the world is increasing. Therefore, the conflict between good and evil continues to intensify.

Many have warped ideas concerning our existence and what is right and wrong. Some have suggestions they believe would make things right. Many believe that science and technology will eventually solve our problems. Some believe having enough material wealth is the answer, and others believe that religion has the answers. But people are imperfect and many pervert themselves; therefore, they cannot solve the problems stemming from immorality.

The Bible is God's Word of truth. Within its pages it is written about the creation of the world and human beings, and about God's moral laws. God created us with free will and knew that we might break His laws. When it happens, we must suffer the consequences.
