The Spirit Realm-My Experiences

Updated on August 6, 2015

With The Paranormal

I’m sure a lot of people don’t believe in the paranormal, which made me a little reluctant to tell others about my experiences. However, whether you believe or not, the truth is the truth, and I’m not going to hide it just to stave off the remarks of those who lack experience in this area of life.
My first experiences with the paranormal involved only me with no other witnesses, so I'll be writing only about those events occurring when other people were around.

Because my dad was an Air Force man, and we moved from state to state, and country to country, he never bought a house, and we rented every place we lived. The good thing about my dad is that he always rented the best his money could buy, and because he had a high rank his best was usually great. However, in some countries, the best houses wouldn’t be so considered if they were here in the States.

I’ve heard that both a house, and a person can be haunted, which means they either stay in a house, and show themselves to anyone who lives there, or they follow a person wherever they go. Tara, my sister, and I have experienced the latter.

***Sounds Of Ghosts

We heard the sound of the front door open, and the shuffle of feet as they climbed the steps

Witnesses To The Paranormal

When Tara, and I were about nine years old we were living in a very large home in the country here in the States. It had four bedrooms, a kitchen, dining room, den, living room, and a very large sun room. There was also a huge entrance room, or foray where there were five steps up to the door of the living room.

One night most of our family members were in the den watching TV, except my mom, who was in the next room, and my brother Ryan, who was out with his friends.

We heard the sound of the front door open, and the shuffle of feet as they climbed the steps in the foray. Tara remarked that Ryan was home early, and we waited for him to come through the door, but he never did. We three got up, and walked to the foray, but there was nobody around.
I looked to my dad searching for answers, but his own face was blank as we returned to our seats in the den. We sat there focusing on what just happened, saying nothing for about ten minutes. Suddenly the doorknob to the room our mom occupied started to quickly turn back, and forth, and we wondered why she couldn't open the door. I got up to help her, but when I entered the room, my mom was on her knees dusting her knick knacks that sat on her shelves..
She turned, and asked me if I had a hard time getting in, and told me to tell Ryan that she had put his dinner in the oven to keep it warm.

We had all heard someone enter the house, climb the steps, and turn the door knob, we even watched the door knob turn. We didn't all imagine that we saw, and heard the same thing, at the same time, including my mom who was in an adjacent room at the time that the events occurred

It was real, and it didn't stop there. When people tell me that “it was all my imagination, because those things don't exist” I realize why they are saying this, simply because it has never happened to them.

***The Rocking Chair

The chair rocked back, and forth, and no one was sitting in it. Then, it stopped, as though someone had just realized we were watching them (it)

Our Second Encounter

Later that night Tara was asleep, but I found it hard to stop thinking, and lay awake in the dark.
We had a rocking chair that creaked kind of loudly if someone was sitting in it, and as I lay there thinking, I heard someone rocking back, and forth in that chair.

Restless I got up to go talk to whoever was in there. I was surprised to find all the lights out, and felt for the switch along the wall. Finding it I turned on the lights, and Tara had suddenly joined me there in the hallway. Looking in at the chair in the den, we couldn’t believe what we were seeing, and weren’t seeing. The chair rocked back, and forth, and no one was sitting in it. Then, it stopped, as though someone had just realized we were watching them (it). Across the hall we saw our dad come out of his room, because he too had witnessed the chair rocking. Mom, and dad got our pillows, and blankets, and we all slept in their room that night. Ryan had no idea what had gone on, and heard us talking about it as he tried to go back to sleep..

The Investigation

There never was one for ghosts, and spirits but our dad had people come in, and check the plumbing, electric, etc, and found nothing that could have made us think someone had entered our home, and rocked in the rocking chair.

Now And The Future

After that night I’ve experienced the paranormal more than several times, and each one has been eerier than the last

Christin It's so nice to know there are like minded people here on hubpages. Wow Now I feel better concerning writing about these things

I've always loved the remodeled older homes, and I would really be attracted to one that's haunted, residual or not. I'm pretty sure I've experienced both.

It's funny how when an entity shows up, I'm not afraid. Sometimes I experience an eeriness, but not fear.

Thank you Christin I hope you stop by again

Something else we share in common. I've seen spirits my whole life and have had open communications with some also. Most aren't harmful and a lot of times homes are filled with the residual energies (not conscious of you) types of hauntings. The house I live in now is one such place. It was built in the 1800's and has had many families who loved her, worked here, died here. Some become attached to the place where they experience so much emotion and I think even though their consciousness may move on, a piece or signature of that person remains.

We have doors that open, feet that shuffle. Sometimes you can hear the voice of the man upstairs talking. For me, it's a very normal part of life, but for many it is very off putting for sure. Thanks for sharing your experiences :)

Thank you for your guidance and good wishes. I always like hearing from you Manatita

I have to remain an "A" student for the next 4 years to get into law school so that I can become a criminal attorney, so that later I can run for judge. School is a must

Fine. Keep going. You're saying the things that I wanted to tell you, even to the point about school. Watch and pray, continue to discern and follow the inner voice. God speed!

      Thank you for commenting Manatita.

What I have written, is just a small part of my experiences. It is when I draw close to God that I experience these things most, along with dreams with a messages, and other things. I see them as a sign for me that I am becoming more spiritual. During the time my life is filled with worldly concerns, such as school I begin to lose those abilities.

      What did Paul say?

"Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith" Romans 12:6

I always focus on God not the gifts. The gifts are a by-product that I love and accept

      Matthew 6:33

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Interesting article, Perhaps you have a gift. These things are small matters for spiritual people and may come for different reasons.

For what it's worth, it is always better to focus on the Goal. These are small experiences on the way and can sometimes side track us if we are not careful. The wise way is to keep walking along the path of Light, and not look back. Still, if you experiences were meaningful, utilise then and then move on.

On till such time as you're merged in God, the way of Yoga is to keep going, as Siddhis (miracles, clairaudience, clairvoyance) and others, can get in the way of progress. Still, you have my love and best wishes. Keep moving forward. Much peace.

Thank you Alaster, I looked it up and read that it's the Irish, and Scottish. This is interesting. Are Celtics just natural mediums, and psychics? I didn't know

Stop by as often as you'd like, and tell me more. I'm sure there's a lot I don't know, but would like to :)

      Oh, is Alaster your name?

If your dad has Irish descendants MonkeyShine75, you and Tara definitely have Celtic roots as the Irish (except, for one example, some lowland Ulster Scots, or Scotch-Irish as they're called in America) are a Celtic people. Thank you and I hope you do check -out some that interest you. I'll follow you on HP to keep up with what your publishing.

My mom was Greek, and my dad descended from the Irish, so I'm still not sure :) I'll have to look up Celtic

Most welcome you are, Monkey Shine75. Do you have any Celtic heritage? Some research points to that heritage, and one or two others, as having, for some reason(s) as yet unknown, to being more likely to pick-up on or experience apparition phenomenon. Got several stories on my HP site and more on Mists and Moonlight Weebly. Would be most happy for your thoughts on any of them in the comments.

Alaster, thank you for reading my hub, and for the very interesting story about the child ghost, I really enjoyed reading about it. I don't know if ghost, and entities will appear to anyone, only those with a special gift, or both. I know for a fact they can be around, and only one person will be aware of it, and others in the same room won't.

My twin sister Tara has experienced the same things I have, and we have had our own separate experiences.

Please stop by again Alastar, and tell me of any stories you have, I love hearing from like-minded people :)

Your a good writer and should find many believers interested in your paranormal experiences/stories here on HP. Intriguing experience y'all had and you're right about these entities sometimes following people. I'm researching a case in this area right now where a small girl who died about 80 years ago followed a teenage boy home from the cemetery where some of the young folks were hanging out. Giggling in the toy closet, toys and other objects moved around etc are just some of the phenomena taking place in the home. These things have been witnessed to by many people, including skeptics. The girl only communicates with and appears to the youngest child in the home who she told how she came to be there. Researching another unrelated child haunting about 30 miles away which is similar with that young boy child actually following someone from the original house to the home of the person of interest. Whether these are the actual children's spirits or entity imitators...who knows, but it seems the former.
