The Subtlety Of Demon Possession In This Century.

Updated on January 18, 2015

The gates loomed in the midst of what seemed a forest of various types of trees. You could see the outline of the house in the distance. The drive up the gravel path seemed eerie. My mind wandered.

I had been invited to a "get-together" of various people. As we entered, many eyes glanced our way and then back to the conversation they were having with the people in front of them. I felt a somewhat discomfort, but I always said that a promise is a promise. I had said yes to attending this wine party with people I barely knew.

Robert, the host, and his wife greeted us and called to a waiter who held a tray full of various wines. I reached for a glass but Robert quickly halted my hand and grabbed a glass from the back of the tray and said this was a special vintage. He exclaimed that I would never find this wine anywhere but in his home. I accepted the glass with a sense of foreboding.

We were introduced to several people and then I saw a man I had met several weeks prior. I settled talking with him about sports, agriculture, the economy and various things. During this time I was sipping the wine that did have a very pleasurable taste and seemed to awaken me to the surroundings. There were statues of what seemed to be demons along with artwork that was very intensely cult related in my opinion. My discomfort grew and I drank the wine faster.

My head was swimming and I felt entrapped. At that moment Robert and his wife came next to me and he exclaimed in a loud voice that he would like to introduce the guest of honor. The crowd of people started enclosing and they all seemed to be chanting. I heard Robert say my name and something about a witness of God. I looked up and all the faces of the people changed. They were demons and were attacking me with multiple weapons.

I jolted up in the bed. I was drenched with sweat. This dream was so real.

This dream came upon me quite some time ago, not long after I completely gave my heart to Jesus Christ.

I have wondered when and if this dream will ever happen or if I was "just dreaming" after watching something scary. No, I believe God has always been trying to tell me something by this dream and it has stayed at the front of my mind ever since.

When I meet people, I study them. If I enter their homes, I look at the art and various objects they have. I have met many people that have occult type figures, Ouija boards, and other various items that make me wary of them. It's guaranteed I won't drink wine with them.

This all comes to the point of this hub: is there demon possession in this century? The Bible claims there was in the "old" days, why wouldn't it be now?

My opinion is, there are many people possessed by demons. I believe it is more subtle now then in days past because Satan has used technology and science to hide it. "Take some Prozac, you'll be ok"; "Snort this line, it will make all good"; "Smoke this, and all is well". I see people whose mood will change from night to day in the snap of a finger.

Yea, Doctors , psychologists and others will say its just people, or sicknesses or some sort of thing like that. Well, I don't have a degree in any of that, but I have been shown some things by God that others haven't and I have news for you. Satan and his demons are roaming this Earth and entering people all the time.

We are in the last days. I prayed this morning asking God what He would have me write today. The Holy Spirit opened my Bible to Mark, chapter 13. I read the whole chapter and my eyes were opened even more. Verse 19 is in my heart and head because I know the days are short. They are words straight from Jesus: For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

We, as Christians grounded in the scripture can pray against demon possession. Don't fear the loser, yes, I said loser. Satan and his demons have lost already. When you feel someone may have possession, pray against it. Drive those demons out. That is what God wants from us. Prayer is our weapon, use it! The Word of God is our sword, use it!

It is my opinion that every one of us meet a person daily who is possessed in one way or another. Are you scared of them? Why be? Did Jesus ever say to be scared and run away?

You know, I have thought long and hard and I actually look forward to that dream coming true. If I'm getting attacked by demons, that means I'm not on their side but on the winning side. Jesus asked us to do it, so just do it!

Mark 13:34: For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.

The Prayer

Father God,

Thank you for giving me the strength and weapons to battle what faces me every day. Please guide me in the battle. I long for the day I am able to bow before you. Your love and grace is all I need. My faith is in you Lord so please keep me strong and show me daily what you would have me do.

In Jesus' Name I pray

Thank you for this hub Froggy. Thank you for praying to the Lord to show you what to write about. Many people do not believe in demons, but they are out there all right and sneakier than ever in these last days. I agree with you that we must pray for those whom we meet who clearly have a demon - a sure sign is they do not like the mention of Jesus. they will roll their eyes or change the subject or mock you and your belief in the King of Kings.

Beautiful sentence...I long for the day I can bow before you...Amen

Your opinion that "every one of us meet a person daily who is possessed in one way or another" may be valid. What do we do? Run from them or find help for them? Thanks for bringing this topic to our consciousness.

Yeah! I definitely agree with you Froggy, We need not to be afraid of anything. There is only one that we are bound to address our fear into and that is God. And so if God is with us, there's nothing else to be afraid of.
