The Wedding Banquet

Updated on December 29, 2010

The kingdom of heaven is like a king who gave a wedding party for his son, the king sent out his servants to invite the guests to the wedding party, but the guests didn't come, again the king sent more servants saying,"Tell the guests,'Look,I have prepared the dinner, the steers and fattened calves have been killed, everything is ready"!.

However, the guests didn't care, they left, one went to his field, one went to his business, the others grabbhed the kings servants, insulted them and killed them.

The king was very angry, he sent out his army to destroy those murderers and burn down their city.

Then the king said to his servants,'The wedding party is still ready, but the guests were not worthy enough to come, so, go to the street corners and invite whosoever you can find to the wedding party.' Those servants went out to the streets and gathered up everyone they could find, good people and bad people, then the wedding hall was filled with guests.

The king entered and looked at the guests, he saw a man who was not wearing the wedding clothes, the king said to him 'Friend, how did you get in without wedding clothes?, the man did not say anything, so the king told his servants to tie him up and throw him outside in the dark, where there will be much crying out and grinding of teeth."

( this portion has been hard for me to understand for a long time, but when I checked into the history for that time it came very clear, others may have had the same problem, but back then the master of a wedding feast, well it was his place to supply to the guests wedding clothes so that others would know that they belonged to the wedding party,) so this man must have thought that not changing into the wedding clothes he would be alright to get in, isn't it the same for us, not putting on what God has given to us the wedding clothes for us to join up with Jesus, and the only way that we can be with him is that we MUST change our way of life, is to get out of our old clothes (ways)and put on the robes that God wants to give to us, so we must change if we want to be the receiver of erternal life.)

Many people are invited, but few people are chosen.

this as taken from Matthew chap 22, v. 1- 14.
