The day the Earth stands still

December 21, 2012. The day the Earth stands still

Religious communities and fearful people like to believe that the world will soon come to an end. Will this actually occur? Will the Earth come to destruction or will humanity be cleansed from this planet? We have caused so much damage to this planet it would be a good deed to all living creatures if our race were to be "removed" from the equation.

There is evidence that tells us the world will end in 2012. This evidence is not based on actual facts but the predictions of an ancient race. The Mayans predicted long ago that the world will end in 2012. Just when the new millenium hit, everyone expected the inevitable demise of our planet. Will this be the same outcome December 21, 2012?

Overexaggerated Fears or Hardcore Facts?

Due to recent history, we have been known to take things too seriously. Maybe there is divine intervention that will take us from this planet or just natural phenomena. Maybe we just want to believe the end is near to keep the hope of survival within us alive. It may not seem like a good enough reason to some, but this thought can help many people live on until the end. There are thousands of people out there dealing with suicidal thoughts and hard lives, only waiting for the end to come so they won't have to deal with life anymore.

Unfortunately, there isn't much evidence to support the theory that the world will end in 2012. Maybe the planet will be destroyed soon due to the practices of mankind, but I doubt there will be a set date on such cataclysmic events. Lets take a look at some things that could bring upon the apocalypse.

The Inevitable End

Earth's destruction
Earth's destruction

Nuclear War

It is a fact that if a nuclear war were to break out between the world nations, the end will come for all living organisms on the planet Earth. It may not completely destroy the planet but it will wipe out all existing life forms that are present on Earth today.

Fear of a nuclear war is very real. In recent history, there has only been one incident in which nuclear bombs were used in battle. This was when the United States of America dropped nuclear bombs in Japan and killed countless amounts of people, innocent and guilty.

The point of this hub is to explain the end result of human nature. We are the cause of so much damage to the planet, with industries pumping poisings into the air destroying the Ozone. We rely so much on things that are slowly damaging our planet and can't seem to find a better way to live life.

Global Warming

Global Warming

Global warming is a very real threat that could bring upon the end of all living organisms on the planet Earth. Because of all the things we use in our economy, we are destroying the planet slowly, bringing upon irreversable damage to the atmosphere.

We could probably stop this from happening if we were to make a change in our lifestyle. Stop using industrial poison pumping devices and start going green. Electricity would be a better alternative than gas. Get rid of the gas stations. Stop throwing trash in the streets. While increasing our technology, we have actually decreased ourselves. Being placed next to our ancestors, their lifespan would probably be much higher than ours. Their enduring of cold weather would probably give them a higher tolerance than we do.

8 years ago from here, there and everywhere

Rumors of an apocalypse in 2012 are being spread by people in order to make money. These rumors promote negative thinking, pessimism, panic and fear, and give people who want to do destructive acts a platform or reasons for their actions.

Thank you for this hub, I invite you to read my hub "2012 - The Big Hoax".

Yes, this seems to be ongoing, much like the fear of 2000 event.

There are in fact a few events that might occur according to the scientific community..aligning of the planets sometime in that time frame.

We do not know what the effect of that would be.

But the earth has been here for a long time we have no means to gauge that. We can speculate only.

The point is that whatever happens, we have one life to live in this body. We only live one day at a time and we make the best of it.
